2023 and I'm here for the beauty of this song. This world is getting lost and all I want to do is go back in time.... To a simpler time. So glad music can take me back when reality can't. I'll come back over and over for this band and her voice. Thank You Alison Krauss and Union Station. Today's music isn't the same
I totally agree.....she's so good......she opens her mouth, and it's over....damned good musicians with her as well......dobro player is too good......way too good.....JHFC.....wonderful.....
This song is pretty damn near perfect. Yes I know it's a cover, but the reworking is genius and the playing superb. And I am thankful to have lived in a time where I can listen to a true angel's voice. I'm not religious in the slightest but I know when I am listening to an "angel" sing!!! Alison to me is the best ever and I've heard them all. Peace!
I agree that her vocal abilities such as Range, tone, vibrato, and technique are Very much polished as a learned artist who are the music because like pure life it's just so simple and almost second nature and comes like life to a newborn,... Naturally
Nigel Millican it is one beautiful, haunting voice....chills me every time lol. and her and her band are flawless, even live....they could lay that track right down as a studio level recording. ridiculous talent
The amazing thing is, the original of this in the 1960s was an upbeat tempo song -- what this lady has done is show how the lyrics are definitely sad, and this song has found its true home whith this rendition. Bravo.
@@scottmurdock01z The Foundations briefly had a member named Arthur Brown -- yes, the same one of "I am the god of hellfire!" fame. Arthur Brown and Alison Krauss?
Disagree with your assessment entirely. The tempo of the original is pretty much the same, likewise slow, but different key. Perhaps it *seems* more upbeat because it has horns. Both versions are great. And I wouldn't call the lyrics "sad," since the singer's denial of the end implies the potential for domestic violence or stalking, like The Police's 'Every Move You Make.'
Allison's spine-tingling voice has only gotten stronger over the years. And I'll admit to being in love with the guitarists' melody, the slides and bends. And don't get me started on that dobro player...
I don't know how many realize that this rendition is over 15 years old. A friend gave me a disk of mp3s back then and this was on it. At that time I had never heard of Alison Krauss, but I was blown away by her voice and this beautiful version. As many have said, she has the purest, smoothest, most velvety voice I've ever heard.

How can you not fall in love with Alison covering a 1968 pop hit from Britain's The Foundations and making it her own. Great work from the band, harmonies that you wait for, and, let's face it, she's lovely. Played often at KTMO in the mid-90's.
I wish we had more music like this. This is pure music and Alison is like no other singer. She’s genuine and puts her soul into every song. I think she must be an 😇.
Her voice flows effortless, no-frills but many little flavours, her tone is pure fresh water...... She puts true emotions through the most plain mastery....
What's really affecting here is [1] she's singing in a crooning near-whisper (listen closely---the sound of her breath is as loud as her singing), not in a room-filling voice; that makes it more intimate & [2] she's really syncopating the lines in an anticipatory way, which, though it's a very relaxed performance, gives it a strong feeling of urgency.
When I use to travel all over Texas on Vacations ( ... before I became disabled and vehicleless ... if that's a "WORD"...
