    I own the 2019 CX-9 Mazda and I must say it's a wonderful car. You will not be disappointed with this vehicle. Parts Content 90% Japan, Engine: Japan, transmission: Japan, final assembly Point, Hiroshima Japan. This should be a very reliable vehicle.

      Kinder Wischmeier I had a 2008 Mazda CX-9 and these 2007-2012 were terrible with transfer case issues. The same drivetrain made it through to 2015. When I bought it, it was unique compared to Pilots and Highlanders everywhere.

      The Telluride is really nice. But you are absolutely right! This interior is insane, especially considering it's entering its fifth year. This goes to show how far ahead of the competition Mazda was when it designed this interior.

    I timed it perfectly because I was just thinking about you doing a review of this beast! As much as I love the Aviator, it's way too expensive and you can get this one so much cheaper. With that being said Mazda has gone bonkers! The beautiful interiors are flawless. And for the Signature and GT I love the captain's chairs in the 2nd row. I think this may be my dream vehicle!

      Joey Chitwood And therein lies the problem. I live in Tampa, Florida which is a good-sized city and we now have no Mazda dealership in Tampa. I have to either drive 10 or 12 miles to Brandon, Florida or Wesley Chapel. That’s a little disappointing🙁

      Joey Chitwood a bit of encouraging news for those of us that live in the City of Tampa. I saw where a Mazda dealership is opening up in between a Honda dealership and the Chrysler dodge dealership in Tampa on Dale Mabry Highway. I believe it’s called Westshore Mazda. Looks kind of small though

    • @joeychitwood6004

    This is a good review. However there are some issues. The "extensive" update happened in 2019, not 2020. 2020 only has a few updates such as the +10TQ, optional 2nd row captain's chairs, and the motion sensing tailgate...really they just made a lot of the features that were standard on higher trims to become standard on lower trims. 2019 is where the big changes happened - they added Apple/Android integration, made expansive suspension changes/sound deadening, the 360 camera, and a few other things.
    Also a few details you got wrong...the 2020 no longer has the auburn interior option, which is the one everyone raved about...not sure why they cancelled that. And the "aluminum look" is actually real aluminum, and it doesn't get swapped for wood on Signature trim like you stated...the whole design of this vehicle was based on some specific things that you disregarded in this review. They took a lot of pride using real metal and wood on the interior, not "aluminum look"...
    But aside from that this is a fantastic review, thanks for your hard work. I'm just nitpicking because I just spent weeks researching all of this stuff before deciding to buy the 2019 over the 2020 due to my desired color choice. Bottom line, if you want the auburn (reddish) interior, you can no longer get that in the 2020 model, and in my opinion that dramatically lessens the appeal and draw of the luxury interior.

    • @limaecho
      @limaecho 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Other issue is that Mazda is still considering 3rd row as a cargo area rather than passenger area, because 3rd row doesnt have any air conditioning ports, leaving in a tropical zone or in spring o summer season that area is going to be hotter than 2nd row, materials are good but ti doesnt compete with other 3rd row suvs, mazda cx9 is more a like than older station wagons, that only added 3rd row and nothing more else. Great review.

    So... pretty much the same as the 2016, my CX9 has been great with a couple of details that I hate,
    1- the wheels started peeling so I'm assuming their paint job sucks.
    2- the right quarter panel developed a crack near the headlight.
    3- seat adjustment and lumbar support is not great.
    4- storage space is pretty much nonexistent.
    Besides that it has been great almost 120k miles trouble free, good mpg and good handling.

      My 2012 cx9 GT clocking 176,000 miles. Only 12 mpg. Rides very rough despite new tires. Left window motor burned out. Power seat and power moon roof switch burned out. Sway bars broken three times. Arm rest cover broken. Blower fan replaced three times. AC is good but leaks water on the carpet. Replaced headlight bulb just twice. Rear lift gate broke but opens with remote. Interior still very quiet, Bose is outstanding. Can't update gps cause they don't use gps CDs any longer. The V6 motor has lots of power despite only two tuneups. Religiously change synthetic oil. All the light bulbs haven't ever burned out. Backup cam a bit dark but works. None of the leather throughout the interior have tears.
      I'm iso a 2020 similar model. I wonder what I'll get for a trade, or should I sell it outright? Ps. Never been in a collision. Oh, it's great on snow but hairy on ice. Lastly parking break has never worked.

      My wife has one and I actually see a lot around this area, but we have 5 mazda dealers in about 25 square miles and most of them are actually good dealerships, which the dealership experience is often very poor with this brand.
      It's not perfect, nothing is, but we've had ours about a year and a half, zero issues, it looks great, feels more expensive than it is and for this type of vehicle is fun to drive. Would definitely recommend unless you just have to have more cargo area.

    • @michaels7984
      @michaels7984 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@asherkothapalli it's ok. Its tighter than some of the larger vehicles in the class, has more of a cockpit feel to it. It's not bad, just takes a little more adjustment to get it where you want. Although we have a rear facing car seat behind the drivers seat, so I imagine it will be quite a bit better once we can switch that to a forward seat.
      Regardless, I've driven it for 300+ mile stretches on trips and have been pretty comfortable.

    great job young men. now for the car, Mazda is the most that needs a panoramic sunroof since it is on the compact size for 7 seaters so it looks dimmy without the panoramic sunroof. 6 Speed for 2020 is so behind, 2,5t engine is not what driver expect when throttle even with high torque again it is a 7 seats vehicle, a 3.0t or a direct injection of 3.5L will suit better. Mazda cx90 ain't cheap and in 2020 this high end car deserves 10 11 or even 12 inch screen. beside that it is really a great car. thanks for the review.

      Panoramic roofs mess with the dynamic driving experience and make vehicles heavier. Mazda places a lot of emphasis on the driving experience.

    The infotainment screen is ugly. Not sure why Mazda insists on having it stick up like that. It’s awkward, intrusive and looks like an after thought in the design.

    Recently test drove one of these. Fit and finish were very nice. Handling was great. But the accelerator pedal would "click" everytime you'd press it down more than 3/4 of the way down. I pulled over and saw that there was a plastic tab built into the side and bottom of the pedal and would strike part of the raised floor by design. This was ridiculously annoying and seemingly unnecessary. The salesman said that was built into the car to let you know when the turbo was kicking in. ("Right")... Also with the tailgate closed you can see that the passenger's heads in the 3rd row would clear the rear glass by barely an inch.

    • @gray25xt
      @gray25xt 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's the "Accelerator kickdown switch" and I agree it's annoying. It has nothing to do with the turbo, the turbo spools almost immediately in this car for low-rpm acceleration. The switch you speak of is an MPG saver and prevents full throttle unless you floor it completely by activating the click you speak of. That's typically when the transmission downshifts and you get a burst of power. Yes it is annoying I'm considering removing mine.

    Not sure where you got the length of 192.9" shown in the video. The CX-9 is 199" in length making it among the largest midsize 3 row crosovers on the market. It's even longer than the VW Atlas and is shorter than only the Dodge Durango and buslike Chevy Traverse. To go with that length it has the least interior space of any vehicle in the category. "A little bit less (cargo space) than other cars in this class" is a significant understatement. At 71.2 cubic ft it has less cargo space than a KIA Sorento that is 10" shorter. The Telluride has 87 cubic ft of cargo space and the VW Atlas has over 98 cubic ft. Each with a shorter length than the CX-9. In fact, the CX-9 has less overall cargo space than a Honda CR-V. "A ton of space"? Hardly.
    The shortcomings of the CX-9 don't stop there. The Mazda and the Subaru Ascent are the ONLY three row midsize crossovers that don't offer a six cylinder engine as standard or as an option. And it stands alone offering a now aged six speed transmission. Why? The answer is simple. As the smallest independent mainstream manufacturer on the planet Mazda has to "make do" with the same engine/transmission combination in the CX-9 as in their compact crossover (CX-5) and midsize sedan (Mazda6) each of which weighs far less and where the engine/transmission is far better suited. When and if Mazda completes development of their rumored in-line six cylinder engine, the CX-9 (or its successor) may be more competitive on this score.

      @stephenhendricks103 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kdomster9141 The issue with the CX-9 is not its overall size. It's the fact that it's among the largest midsize 3 row SUV's with the LEAST interior space. An appallingly inefficient design.
      Obviously, "people buying the CX-9" overlook that fact. But the fact that the CX-9's sales have been declining for over a year suggests fewer and fewer "people" are willing to do so.

    • @stephenhendricks103
      @stephenhendricks103 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kdomster9141 So you're point is that you don't value what most consumers value in a 3 row crossover. There are a number of vehicles that provide superior handling for a single driver or four passengers including several from Mazda. But what you want is a vehicle with no more passenger and cargo space than a Honda CR-V. That's your right. Obviously, though, there are relatively few consumers that make that choice.

    • @stephenhendricks103
      @stephenhendricks103 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kdomster9141 A "niche, enthusiast oriented vehicle"??? OMG. ROFL. The CX-9 handles relatively well for what it is but it's a massive three row crossover not a canyon carving sports car. I doubt that's much of a "niche" for "enthusiasts."

    • @stephenhendricks103
      @stephenhendricks103 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kdomster9141 On the contrary, I'm looking at the class of car in which the CX-9 falls -- midsize three row sport UTILITY vehicles. It's a class where virtually every competitor offers more passenger room, more cargo space, and (with the exception of the Ascent) a standard or optional V6 engine.
