Lego needs to hire this guy so he can design and bring back the space classic.
But his designs are too complex to be reasonably priced

It's good how he even mentions 'play features' during the interview. It's what the kids rly need to jump start their adventures.

These are great designs. He has retained the style of the originals while making them a lot more detailed. A lot of designers take the color scheme from the old Space line but abandon the original look of the vehicles.
Benny from the Lego Movie would go crazy when he sees this.

Coming back to this video after the announcement of the update of the original Galaxy Explorer by LEGO, as much as I love the new design by LEGO, I'm still seeing things about this version that I love... especially just the sheer size of it. If Alec is on Rebrickable and has instructions for this build available for purchase, I am definitely interested.
If I ever see the updateed version of the Lego Galaxy Explorer, I will buy it.
What with lego seemingly starting to make sets to cater for afols now, they would do very well to release some new classic space sets like this. The nostalgia these sets bring is priceless. I would buy them all day long!

I love Alec’s work, always so detailed and with many brilliant play features! He’s a member of my LUG, the LondonAFOLs, and has a bit of a reputation for “swooshing” things which hasn’t always turned out well! 🙈 Glad to see there was no spontaneous disassembly while he was showing you his models here 🤣😁👍
So cool! I always love when people modern-ize the 80’s classic ships. I love the tank in the back of the ship, and that he made sure to keep the red wheels.

I recognise a lot of these from old Space sets I drooled over in catalogues as a kid. Very nice homages.
I so much liked the weapon-less Lego space series of the 80s. This guy really nailed the feeling of these times and brought it to the build technique and sheer size of 40 years in the future. some weeks ago I rebuilt one of my playsets of that time for my 4 year-old daughter. Now I need to tell her stories of the lunar landings for bed-time stories. A new generation of explorers? :-D
I love seeing all these classic space Mocs! It would be awesome if LEGO would remake them sometime soon :D

Great detailing on the undersides of the ships! Love all the use of the curved dishes and cone pieces.
A friend of mine had that original space ship when we were kids. I always thought it was so cool with the splitt end and ramp. When we played with Space LEGO that ship was the center of mine attention.
The 928 immediately pops childhood memories into my head.

I used to spend hours making one awesome megaship from my many, many space sets but as much as I don't like to admit it, I think this guy's got me beat!

My nephews still have my original version of that ship. I saved my blue Benny fig but the ship carries on to the next generation. LEGO ROCKS! 🤘that new build is AMAZING!!! Structure is always the hard part detailing is the fun stuff. He nailed both!!!!

This spaceship is AWESOME
Oh my god this is perfect. My uncle is the last in his generation and I'm the first in mine, so he is thirteen years older than me. He has the galactic voyager from classic space and I have the stellar recon voyager from m tron. Seeing both these ships being this amazingly reimagined is fantastic. My favourite beyond the brick video so far. I feel emotional!

Amazing work. Great realistic details, fun design and playability. I still have a built version of thar classic ship. My favorite as a kid. Something magical about how you could unload a car from the back.
I am always surprised at how well some Lego manufacturers implement their own ideas. With Lego bricks you don't often see such a good and clean structure. Bravo

This young guy is an amazing designer.... I am 53 now and remeber having the 918 and later 924 back in 79-80.... I always dreamed of having the 928 but it was way to expensive for my parents to buy for me as one purchase.....,,,Manaymnay yaers later I bought all the classic sets from 78-87. I really wish Lego will bring back the Classic Space era, as the did with the 10497 from last year

I had all of those old sets. Then my kid got a hold of them and lot all the directions and some of the parts. MY favorite toys as a child in the early 1980's

OH those childhood dreams. I remember when I got that big ship in Xmas present as a young boy.
And that first modell definately need to be a Lego Ideas set together with the two other ships in that series. I think many of us whom where a kid in the 70ties or 80ties will rush to buy them. Johan.
