  • Today I am sharing how I am planning the SLOW START to our homeschool year for the 2024 - 2025 school year! Do you plan a slow start as well? Or do you just jump in on day 1?
My name is Jerilyn and welcome to OUR HOMESCHOOL TABLE! I am a mom of three kids! They are currently ten, three and one! I taught Kindergarten for six years before I began staying home. We started homeschooling in 2019 and I love sharing about all things homeschool, curriculum and planning!

Do you start your homeschool year slowly or do you jump right in?

We don't officially start until mid/late September because all hands are needed on the farm. We start all subjects at once, but I like the idea of a slower start.

@@quackersplatfarm That makes sense! I have good friends that are canning for the good part of September and then start in October! I love the flexibility! 😃

We started our slow start this week! We do some math throughout summer (half lesson a day) and just added science and history in, and at the end of august we’ll add LA, do full math lessons, and a couple other small things 🤗

Thank you for your slow start ideas. I would be interested in hearing how you balance your responsibilities with your mental and physical health and household duties along with homeschooling, really struggling to make it all work ...

@@ezekielfenjavandehei3189 That is a great video idea. 😃
I will say that the only way I keep even a little bit of sanity is to have Quiet Time for all my kids every afternoon. The nappers sleep and my older daughter has to do quiet things in her room until the nappers wake up. That is my time to film/edit videos, read, watch TH-cam or even nap. It has been a sanity saver.

Just last night I was looking over things and was thinking the same thing about Sonlight and came to the same conclusion. So we’re gonna start that a few weeks ahead of time and go from there. Love seeing how you have Sonlight and everything set up!

@@jerilyn-ourhomeschooltable it went great! We had one rough day (Thursday), but today was great. I think 4 out of 5 great days is teeth good for the first week back.
