    Thoughts on adjustable sensor after you watched the video? Should more mice include this?

    • @8020Alive
      @8020Alive ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No. The balance shifts and that's not good.
      Would love it up top ONLY if they could design it with 50 / 50 balance. 1 step forward 1 step back.

    • @UpgradeLemonade
      @UpgradeLemonade  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@8020Alive depending on your grip style and choice of placement the weight shift is very very minor in feel while ' in game ' if you fingertip like myself then yes its going to be more obvious . but target audience is claw/palm.

    Imagine you're drawing a circle with a pencil. If you hold the pencil near the tip, you have to move your hand less to draw the circle. If you hold the pencil at the end, you have to move your hand more to draw the same circle. The circle size doesn't change, but how much your hand moves does change. This is similar to the mouse sensor position here and that metaphor helped me understand. The sensor is like the pencil tip and your hand is like where you're holding the pencil.

    Hey I hover around 33cm /360 as well too :D At least for overwatch I am. In Valorant its a lot slower of a sens. Did you find yourself aiming better in OW with the sensor higher or lower? This got me thinking to look at my mice and see which ones ive aimed with best and my ec2a might be the one i aimed with the best and its positioned the lowest. Lamzu mini and Pulsar xlite v2 mini are more higher and mid positioned. Nice video thanks.

    • @UpgradeLemonade
      @UpgradeLemonade  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I tested it in OW and honestly a lower position was nicer imo. I really like the stability it brings to the faster 33cm sensitivity. It's like an interesting balance

    What I would love to see from most of these mice manufacturers, since they are already developing their own software, would be per application settings. Especially for something like the polling rate. I don't want to go to the software, or hardware button every time I play competitive, but I also totally don't need 2K or 4K polling when I'm browsing the web.

    • @UpgradeLemonade
      @UpgradeLemonade  ปีที่แล้ว

      GWolves actually has a setting called advanced power mode that does just that. (You can check out my HSK video the last one) but it doesn't really work consistently lol . Essentially it lowers polling to 500hz when not gaming and when in game it boosts it up to 1k,2k, or 4k depending on the setting you pick

  • @jakeufps
    @jakeufps ปีที่แล้ว +13

    Splendid review, Lem. The slam click prevention is really smart, and you've generally opened my eyes a lot when it comes to the StormBreaker. I thought that it was going to be a magnesium cash grab, but seeing how they've taken the release serious with all the delays and with 4K incoming as well, I truly believe that there are some people behind this project that genuinely care.

    The movable sensor is great .. but they should have had threaded inserts in the plastic and used non countersunk screws ... not a good design. The benefit is that you can set the sensor right to the plane where you would rotate your wrist, so you don't get unintented mouse input from turning the mouse slightly while swiping.

    • @UpgradeLemonade
      @UpgradeLemonade  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ya they can improve on the implementation but the effort to even implement this is more than most manufacturers attempt to do in their mice . I'm sure we'll see updates to this design as Pwnage keeps using it

    I looked at the paper too and it seems a bit flawed to me because all participants were used to a sensor positioning around the center from their regular mice and they were not given much time to adjust to the different sensor positions. So it could just be that they performed better on what they were used to. It'd be interesting how much the participants can adjust to different sensor positions after months of use.
    I guess with this mouse you can experiment yourself although the sensor positions possible on it are nowhere near as extreme as those in the paper.

    • @UpgradeLemonade
      @UpgradeLemonade  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah the study wasn't perfect but it's more data than we normally get regarding new mouse tech haha. And it really is more of a difference in feel than you'd experience vs some of the other stuff I mentioned.

    My biggest concern is software support. Will Pwnage provide any routine updates at all or will they release a Stormbreaker 2 when the latency on the mouse becomes uncompetitive? They did this with the symm/symm 2 years ago. Looks like they have software updates now but it was infuriating when I had my Pwnage mouse for a year with no updates and terrible latency compared to every other brand.

    • @UpgradeLemonade
      @UpgradeLemonade  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah hard to say but I hope they continue supporting it well into the future. That said with LDAT click latency average of 0.6ms that's insane considering some 4K are hitting around that and this is only 2K atm. Haus Gaming is getting his video out maybe next week? So he can confirm if the click latency is true to that #

    • @Steamrick
      @Steamrick ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Given that they're already sub-ms latency - I don't think that you can rationally argue that it even *can* become uncompetitive. Even halving the latency just means another 0.3ms latency. There's a lot of other points to address before that even begins to matter.

    10 days later, what do you think it's worth buying, is there anything annoying wrong with it? How long is the battery life?

    • @UpgradeLemonade
      @UpgradeLemonade  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yeah still very much worth buying! nothing has come up with my unit that changes the video recommendation. In terms of battery its hard to gauge I charge it like once or twice a week (I cycle between various mice) The only competition this may have this year is the Lamzu Thorn or Xlite v3 but we'll have to see what comes of them (next few months)

      if you keep your fingers really straight on the right side and need a lot of space there like most cs players, or if you do a carpal stabilized rather than pincer claw, ergo is probably better/ more comfortable. if you value vertical range of motion, care about weight being as low as possible and a flatter/lower mouse go for the ulx. the sides don't slope in too much on it either so u might be able to work with it too even w/ straight fingers but won't have as much space as an ergo.

      Yeah, the shape itself is very suboptimal for fingertip grip. You should mainly check out small ambidexterous mice like G-Wolves Hati S/G-Wolves HSK and their iterations, Xtrfy M4 with the lower hump, Xtrfy MZ1/MZ1 Wireless (well, these are not ambi, but almost), Razer Viper Mini, Pulsar X2 mini, Lamzu Atlantis Mini, Ninjutso Sora etc.

      @@LogPile444 Tried both, and still having a Skoll SK-S (Mini, Sakura Edition).
      Shape-wise it's almost exactly the same as the Xlite v2 mini, just considerably lighter with its 48 grams. Omron (20M)s, but a crispy implementation, removable micro USB/USB Type-A paracord with medium stiffness, plus you can set everything on the mouse PnP with physical buttons (except debounce time, polling rate indicator LED activity and fine tuning of sensor resolution). And the usual G-Wolves tin box inside the thick carton, with loads of extras inside (bonus PTFE feet, 2 x TTC Gold or Pink switches, a pretty nice grip tape set, a dust cover ("bag"), a brush and a Chanel scent pad for the nice smell).
      You can also try out the Razer Orochi V2. It's a pretty decent mouse for fingertip and it stops at 66 grams, if you use a 7,5 grams Energizer Ultimate Lithium AAA battery. Or you can opt for a Finalmouse Starlight S-12 S. Or the fingertip god Zaunkoenig M2K.

    I don't get it, why don't they make the scroll wheel out of aluminium and where is the free-scroll mode(in 2023)? But, I guess, this product is particularly designed to be used by gamers. Also, it would be nice to get the MINI version of this mouse.

      Ya it's very FPS focused . But a mini would be dope

    why not put the sensor to the right position regarding the study and save up some weight and reduce probability of breaking parts?

      @@UpgradeLemonade sorry I'm not native, may be I didn't express myself properly. I'll try another way. if there a studies on proper sensor positioning,l and the majority of tested subjects had it centered, why not put the sensor where the vast majority had it positioned? you could save the weight of the mechanism and there would be less parts that might break e.g. the screws or that plastic that holds them.

      @@kil1337 ohhh I see what you mean now, sorry! Yes most mice do this but as a mouse enthusiast I really appreciate companies pushing innovation and giving users options beyond what we normally see to dial in performance. It does introduce more failure points yes but we'll just have to see how it holds up over long term use.

    WARNING: This company's customer service is bad. My mouse arrived broken and their support had me in an infinite loop of questions and taking 3 days to respond to each answer. After weeks of going through that, I finally got them to let me send it back for a replacement, but now they won't respond and it's been over a week. I'm not sure what options I have for getting my money back.

    The moving sensor seems like a cool idea but at second thought it seems like changing dpi can do the same thing and its done without a screwdriver.

    • @UpgradeLemonade
      @UpgradeLemonade  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not quite, cause then you'd physically be moving the mouse more ( if you had a lower dpi) by adding distance to your swipe. Plus their are benefits to higher dpi with 4K and lower latency. Regardless it's more about praising something different that adds another layer of personalization Making another ergo mouse is a bit boring and safe

      It can't have the most exotic materials and unique tech and be the same price as the others , doesn't work like that lol
      That said Dav3 is solid option for $150 or wait for new Pulsar xlite V3 coming soon should be in the $100-150 range
