With how that last speech was sounding, I really thought Colin was about to come out to the team, with what Ted was talking about, about being yourself and not caring about what others think if you believe.
I think the message impacted everyone in different ways, and we could kind of see why they chose to show different characters taking in what Ted was saying. The idea of Colin coming out in that moment honestly didn't cross my mind. But, like Roy and others, Colin was applying the speech to his own situation for sure. -Andrew
@@ItTakes2Takes , seems that Sudeikis wants to address issues like that in sport. Wasn't the cast's appearance at the White House about the mental health thing they started talking about in S2? I know Jason loves sports in general, played basketball in college, etc. Was it Charles Barkley that said something like, 'You've all played ball with gay guys, you just didn't know it.' Seems like as we the public are becoming more & more allies (or at least, tolerant) of LGBT+ people, there's still a taboo against them in sport. And I hope this isn't a slur against them..but damn. Colin either needs to learn to drive, or just go buy tix to ride the Underground. 🤣
I noticed how Roy mentions 4 am is when people are least prepared to defend themselves, yet he takes Jamie to train at 4 am which I find interesting and will probably come in to play later on in the season. Edit:I also forgot to mention while this may be a stretch I got a theory that when Henry said “I should’ve followed your advice” he might’ve meant he followed Jack’s advice.
This is great episode. Teds speech gave me a feeling that this episode is the end of part 1 of season 3. Noticed Zava said You can do anything not We can do anything. He knew he was going. The Nate / Jade looks like a good call. I think she will make Nate meet up with Ted to talk through things.
I interpret Jade’s view of Nate a little differently, but your perspective is totally valid. I think the notion that she knows who he really is could be true, since she works at the restaurant and it’s such a family staple for Nate. That said, I think her perspective is less that she knows who he is and more she recognizes he’s putting up a front and isn’t impressed. Most women are aware that men trying to impress us are compensating for something they perceive as a weakness, and we’re usually put off by this because we don’t know what’s behind the facade. So when Nate gets dumped and lets the facade drop, Jade is moved to do something nice for him, and the two manage to connect because both of them are letting their guard down for the first time.
The part of the prediction that no one seems to be talking about is that Rebecca is supposed to end up upside down in the water (but safe)… I think that’s going to come up in the next episode (while they’re in Amsterdam)
"If the boys are (expletive) gonna stand around watching (expletive) Zava all (expletive) match, we should make them buy (expletive) tickets." -Roy Kent As a fan of the game, I'm with Roy on this one. It's more common than people think on a team that has hired a superstar. The player 'Zava' is mostly based upon (IMO) actually played in Los Angeles for a couple of years, and that's pretty much what happened there. Situation was a bit different - Zlatan had a knee operation or something, and only came to the US in the first place so his agent could say to Euro clubs, "..see? He can still play!!" He never cared about the LA Galaxy, he just wanted a place to audition (pun intended!). Earlier in the series, Roy actually mentions doing something like that ("..or play in America, where I'd dominate, by the way..") when he has that late-night conversation with Ted about being benched. Goldstein & Hunt are both *huge* soccer fans, and often 'borrow' story ideas from the past & present of the real game. At present, Zlatan is playing for AC Milan. Big, big club. I think we're going to see Zava again, maybe even at Man City or West Ham.
Great review and awesome speech by Ted Lasso at the end. But I have to say, a part of me is kinda surprised at the writers for brushing off the fact that his former counselor and ex wife are dating. Maybe it’s because they don’t want Ted to look jealous or petty, but something should at least be said from an ethical or even legal standpoint. At least realistically speaking. I mean, I think Ted did say that he had a bad experience with a marriage counselor in season 2.
My take on Zava is that he comes up with pretentious BS to rationalize his impulsive decisions. He “retires” to extricate himself from a losing team, but since we know that Jamie is putting all this effort into being better than Zava, I have a feeling that Rupert will lure Zava out of retirement to play for Westham and thus set up a showdown for the end of the season. Or maybe this really was the last we see of Zava.
Richmond still owns his contract. Rupert would have to buy it, but Zava going to West Ham seems too obvious for this show. I'm pretty sure he'll be back, but I hope not in a way we expect.
I haven't been on board with the Rebecca/Ted romance speculation all these years. With that said, I'll admit that I always get a little uncomfortable when it seems like they could be teasing us with it. But in the case of the interaction you're talking about, I do think that scene simply added to the whole idea that Ted and Rebecca have a special (platonic) connection with one another. -Andrew
@Skarbie Well But do you think a tv show would show that just because it’s what happens when people are close? I just think co workers/friends wouldn’t have that kind of connection.
@@ItTakes2Takes if it’s so show would keep them just like normal friends. Why always bring out their connection? I don’t know maybe it’s something I wanna believe in.
I hate saying it because I love the character, but I think Sassy is going to die. Rebecca is Sassy's daughter's godmother. That is how Rebecca becomes a mother.
My wife JUST mentioned that this prediction is going around. I don’t buy it. It’s possible that the motherhood “prophecy” is connected to Nora, but I don’t know that she has to become a legal guardian of a kid in order for it to happen. It could be figurative. Anyway, killing off Sassy feels a bit dark as well. -Andrew
@@ItTakes2Takes It does feel dark. I'm not positive I'm right, but isn't Sassy the type of secondary character that could impact both the main protagonists...Ted and Rebecca?
