We had a lot of solar power and always took 20 gallons of extra water over what our rig held. If anyone came in and parked within sight of us we packed up and hit the road. I agree with Sondra. They probably did get tired of rescuing ppl and just put the signs up. So thankful for their experience and wisdom, and of course the ride.

I really enjoyed your video this was the first time I've watched it brought back a lot of memories I was born and raised in Las Vegas and spent a lot of time at Lake Mead and all around that area thank you very much enjoy yourselves and we will enjoy these videos keep up the good work
Well at least you were able to back your extra-long rig out of your site despite not being able to go forward....Most all RV parks are not designed for a long large RV that has any type of motorized vehicle pulling the RV or pulling a large toad behind them. The big RV owners won't find much real space unless you invest in a luxury RV resort where you own the site and have the $$$$$ to throw around for your RV, By the way you have a beautiful set up right down to the tiny smart car on the tractor - very clever! I manage a small older (1960's) RV park down in WIllcox Arizona and I can safely park a 45' diesel pusher with either a toad or a trailer on the back end, in my 50 amp pull-thru sites, but it's gonna be a full spot with a 90 degree left hand turn with zero room to spare until you hit the chain link fence as you pull forward to exit. It just takes going slow and having a spotter, and it's an easy thing to get back on the road again. I have never had anyone complain about the tight fit or damage from running into anything so I guess the sites are long enough! Enjoy your stay at lake Mead while the water still exists because something tells me that it may be history by 2050, if not sooner. Willcox is on one of the last natural sweet aquifers left in the state (water from the tap is delicious, no filtering needed) but all of the large agricultural farms in this area are sucking it dry as we speak, which is heartbreaking. It's mostly to water cattle grains, corn, Pistachios, wine grape orchards, etc. Actually, the Vineyards in this area have award winning wines that beat out California and French wines year after year with more vineyards popping up all the time due to the micro-climate here. Personally I'd rather drink clean fresh water than wine any day of the week!
We just left there. So much fun. Now we are at Vegas tt . Came here to get an Adventure membership. Maybe we will see you at a park one day. Have fun safe travels
Just missed us... by a few weeks. Adventure Pass gives you access to way more parks... some years we'll add it depending on our schedule. Safe travels and hope to see you on the road.
Just want to comment on the nice quality of your camera work and views, inside and outside while driving. Love the drone footage also. Do you control the drone from inside Voyager while you are driving or do you set up a scene and drive back thru for the recording? Love how with stormy clouds forming, you are walking thru narrow slot canyons! What could possibly go wrong? Top of the hill would look better later in the day with side lighting/late sun to bring out the textures over the cloudy sun when you were there?
Much appreciated! While in motion, I fly and Sondra drives... the tricky part is the recovery of the UAV. Thanks for the tips... sometimes the sun does not cooperate.
We are watching this from our campground in Cortez Florida. You camped at the Lake Mead recreation area where we did. At least you got to see the burros. All we got to see was the burro poop!😂 Valley of Fire is Awesome!!! Loved it and we want to go back. We are really enjoying this video! Great job! Jim and Sue
@@bigtruckbigtravels we only come down for the month of April. Gotta start out in Quartzite and then do a little skiing with the fam at home. We don’t have horses anymore but getting away in March and April avoids the “mud season”! We binge watched a couple episodes last night. Jim does the thumbs up on the TV and I do it on my phone through our Gypsy Mountaineers. We double up!
Those front tire issues are tough. I've had a few of them, back when I was a single rear drive. Hopefully your dual tandems had enough bite and you dug enough ramp for the front to gently rise. Would Coach Net come all the way out there?
We have enjoyed watching your channel since my brother, a former long haul trucker, recommended your channel. You guys are funny on this video!! My wife and I (both retired) have been out in Southwest for 3 months and you guys must be stalking us because youi are going to many of the spots we have done after we did them!!! 😉 We were at Death Valley the day a few weeks ago when it was raining hard that allowed you to kayak there, after which we were in the Las Vegas area (Boulder City) for a month and did a LOT of hiking there, including Valley of Fire twice which allowed us to do most all of the hikes there-- Gorgeous piece of God's creation!!! HOWEVER-- you guys got the EASY version of the 7 Wonders loop. We went a few days after the heavy rains had hit Death Valley and the Nevada area, so the SLOT CANYONS you nicely just walked through were all filled with water and we all had to bushwack up the side cliffs to bypass the flooded slots. Safe travels :)
Oh man! That's a lot of water in the desert! Glad we hit the weather just right... though you guys got some very unique views! Thanks for watching the channel.
New subscriber, as seeing the Spacecraft & Volvo, I thought it was Todd & Sheila in theirs, but then saw 'Valley of Fire' and thought I'd watch, so thanks for the uplifting video! Having driven many a Volvo rigs, and most every other brand on the market, it made me feel good sitting in the seat with Sondra holding the camera! Some years back, a group of us (4 couples) drove from home (western Canada) down to Utah, with our ATV's in the Moab area, and did some long day exploring on our quads, having seen LOTS of red rock, and it's beauty. Lots of slot canyons, sand, cactus...but no Burro's or wild cows! We have many memories, as we toured down there four different times in Utah, and that was back with our F450 dually, Arctic Fox slide in camper and pulling our 18' enclosed trailer. We've moved to a Class A Tiffin now, so we spend more time in southern Arizona now, splurging on some RV resort time, and enjoying all the amenities. We still love to hike, and I very much have enjoyed Photography for decades, so I get some long walks in the desert in, when time allows, and this year the desert was very 'green' with all the winter rains, and not as many flowers as last year. Soon hope to go with the same group over to check out souther South Dakota, see the Teton's, Yellowstone and Glacier National park. As I'm sure you've seen, the diesel prices in some locations is crazy expensive, with California being ridiculous, so we rarely travel through that state any more unfortunately. Nonetheless, I'll be catching your video's from time to time now, and see what direction you're taking from one place to the next. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for finding us. Those are great trips. We volunteered for 4 months in Yellowstone and thoroughly enjoyed it. We couldn't believe how green the desert was this year. Thanks for the comments and safe travels this year.
I love Stewart's Point! Do that exact drive several times a year. We get right out above the water (I've got a 32' bumper pull). Excellent choice! Be careful in monsoon season, storms come rolling off the hills and gusts can get bad, my buddy had his 5er blown off its stands, and almost rolled.
Last Fall we boondocked a couple weeks at the other end of Lake Mead by Government Wash. We camped on the edge of an escarpment, here: 36.12518, -114.8358. We enjoyed our stay and the many visits to Henderson and Vegas. I like the gas struts on your array. Our small 620w side array is liftable (with gas strut assist too), but our 4,400w rooftop array is fixed. I didn't want to climb on the roof of our coach to lift panels at my age. Though we look to be close in age (I just turned 68 today), you two appear to be in much better shape than us. There's no way my wife could have put that ramp out like yours did, kudos to Sandra! Our 35ft Class A is a lot smaller than your rig so our rooftop array, which is 15" off the roof, shades our entire roof, allowing a cool breeze underneath for less heat load on our A/Cs. Our AT&T Wi-Fi worked great at Govt. Wash. Not to rub it in, but the thing about boondocking in a lighter rig like ours is that we haven't got stuck yet, in the last 6 yrs. FT, boondocking in some pretty iffy places. In fact, we've been living completely off-grid for the last 18 months. We sure love the freedom our solar gives us and I'm sure you feel the same. We saw a couple coyotes, bighorn sheep and a few partridges at Govt. Wash, but no burros, and that's no bull. We didn't do Valley of Fire because they don't take America the Beautiful Pass like the Lake Mead Rec. Area does, and we're cheap. What can I say? After giving very generous donations to the one-armed bandits in Lost Wages, we were in low budget mode till we left. Seriously though, I think the buffets took as much of our money as the slots, but we're not complaining. We enjoyed hiking Valley of Fires vicariously through your video though. You saved us 15 bucks plus getting hot and sweaty. Thanks.
OK. So, I have one question. While traveling down the highways and Interstates, are you required to stop at the weight stations, and have the rig weighed, just like other big rigs are?? Just curious.
Great question, Richard. No, we're a private truck, not commercial and thus we bypass the weigh stations. Actually, they don't want us in there clogging up the lanes... ask us how we know! 😆 🤣
If possible, always try to fuel up in the early morning because the fuel is colder and always fuel up around half tank. When your fueling always use the slowest click and never fuel fast. Trust me you will get more fuel for your money. You can research it, I hope this helps.
Thank you so much for the trip to see the seven wonders! This was a fun trip, especially with the all the “bull poop” going on! David are you sure you hurt yourself loading the bikes? I think you just wanted to see if Sondra could do your job! She sure fooled you! Don’t underestimate the power of a good woman!! 😂❤❤❤
No comment, Marian on how I hurt myself! 😆 😆 Sondra was a trooper and did great. I was hoping for funny content but she came through with flying colors!
Just found your video. We love camping but have not been able to go for quite a few years because of taking care of sick elderly parent. I think we are heading out west maybe in September. On your hiking you did what kind of distance was that you walked probably. We have a Country Coach an it needs to be used 😂😂. Enjoyed your experience in this trip . I will start watching your other videos. Thanks
Oh wow! You are wearing a Clemson Tiger shirt 😳😊. Both our sons went there😍. Hubs wants to know what you mean by boondoggin. I am sure I spelled that wrong🤪. The scenery in this video is amazing🥰
Thank you. Our daughter graduated from Clemson and we used to live in Greenville. Boondocking is basically camping in the wilderness with no hookups available. You are completely independent and off-grid.
You got me, you got me good with the neighbor joke! I was like what?! They came over and pooped outside of your RV, all three of them? I was like, get ready for it, but my hint up the road didn't click because there are people out there that I would not doubt would do such a thing lol. So glad it wasn't Bull.....Love that spot and glad you are there when Lake Meade has much more water in it. Speaking of Lake Meade, we have one, of many, lakes called Lake Meade in good ole' Suffolk VA. It's fairly big but nothing that size. Gotta get back and finish this! Well, thank you for the natural beauty as usual (even the slots) but it looks like another axle needs to have it's own drive gears? I'm sure the rear one's pulled you out of that, but I'll have to wait and see....you cliffhanger lovers!
😆 🤣 there were hints early in the video, KB... but we thought it would be funny! Glad you enjoyed it... may be another "hanger" next week. We had two interesting weeks on the road!
Very nice Video! Boondocking is the only way to go! I have been Boondocking full-time for the past 40 plus years and avoid campgrounds, campsites of any type like the plaque. There just no respect for others anymore like there use to be. I don't like to be in eyesight of other neighbors or people because of the crazy things they do like you have mentioned in your video. Really like Your Rig and RV. Keep up the great job enjoying life out there. Stay safe and God Bless.🙏🏻👍
I learn so much from your videos, and it all fires my imagination. "Valley of Fire," "Poverty Flats," and "Maverick Saves Us 2 Cents" sound like names of Johnny Cash songs. Who knew: - there was a national day for meatballs? God bless us all on National Meatball Day!.😊 - Lake Mead was once lakeside dwelling? Now it's overrun by poopy asses and wild cattle. No bull!!😂 - there was so much wildlife to be photographed in Fire State Park? Every missed opportunity makes you say, "Gosh darn it."😂 - part of being on the 7 Wonders Trail was wandering as you wondered what the 7 wonders were? The trail is littered with ironic signs. - being outdoors could inspire so many Dad jokes? Sondra was "lichen" it, and "you rock," David! Just so you know, I reference your videos in my Transformative Education sessions. You're a rich source of ELA, Geography, History, Math, and yes, humor.😁 Until next Thursday, God's willing, safe travels!👍🏾
Thank you very much. Appreciate your support each week and we're honored that you can find parts of the videos as useful examples in your sessions. Rock on!
Wow, David and Sondra how gorgeous were all those rocks. I hope you didn’t take them for “granite”. As for the wild cows, I think that’s “Bull”. 😂 keep the dad jokes and great videos coming.
About the sign, you are not disobeying what is stated, it only says you are not on the trail, it's doesn't say that you can't explore further, not even any mention of danger, apart from getting lost I suppose. Awesome videos, I must watch more, thanks for sharing.
Wow. You have Prevost owners, Toter owners, giant toy hauler owners, and they all roll in feeling like they are king shit. Then you show up in that rig and just makes all the others rethink their decisions. Amazing unit. Beautiful... Good for you two!!!
We found Valley of Fire during a Vegas trip. Beautiful area, and who knew so close to the madness on The Strip. Hope you "Shale" return sometime soon! (groan). Travel safe, and I'll watch for the next one. Cheers! Pete in Arizona - KI7LIL
Your camp area at the lake looked wonderful! And those wild critters are great entertainment! Loved the footage of your hike. Curious why you don’t carry walking sticks in case of a slithery encounter? (Yes, snakes freak me totally out 🫣) Those slot canyon trails are so beautiful! Thanks for taking us along!❤️~ Wendy
Thanks, Wendy, for the comments. Sometimes we carry walking poles but we just stay alert on where we walk. Sondra is always on the alert for ALL wildlife! I'm not crazy about the leg-less variety!
Hey John and Robin from Oklahoma weekend can relate to your parking issues. We always have a parking lot full of people staring at us. We have a four-door single axle freightliner with a 40 foot fifth wheel with one more bet you can’t get in there ha ha

We stop at Apple Annie's in Wilcox for some deliciousness. Would we fit in your park? We like the area in that part of Arizona. Thanks for watching.
Sondra you did a hell of a good job with the ramps ? Lol👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
They looked heavy and awkward. Way to go Sondra!
She did great... not very funny video content but a great job!
Good job! This video ROCKS!
Woohoo, Peter! Nice.
You guys are funny 😂 I love watching u guys !
Thank you!
FANTASTIC VIDEO WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PLACE !! WOW !! I LOVE YOU GUYS !! BE BLESSED BE SAFE 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👊✊👍🙏
Thanks so much, really means a lot to us.
We are watching this from our campground in Cortez Florida. You camped at the Lake Mead recreation area where we did. At least you got to see the burros. All we got to see was the burro poop!😂 Valley of Fire is Awesome!!! Loved it and we want to go back. We are really enjoying this video! Great job!
Jim and Sue
Thanks, Jim & Sue for the comments and appreciate your time watching the channel. That is a neat area. Florida is a nice place for winter.
Another great video. Thanks.
Our pleasure! Thank you for watching the channel.
Those front tire issues are tough. I've had a few of them, back when I was a single rear drive. Hopefully your dual tandems had enough bite and you dug enough ramp for the front to gently rise. Would Coach Net come all the way out there?
Possibly but we were off the road... none in the area... very uneven ground as well. Helps to disengage traction control... which we didn't!
Wow! That's crazy winds! We'll watch out.
Really enjoy 25:46 25:48 seeing all your adventures, thank you for sharing. can't wait to see where you go next
Glad you enjoyed it, Brian. Thanks. We're always on the road so more to come. Thanks
Thanks.
Sounds like a great trip. Govt Wash is a good location. Nice wattage on the solar array and it does help to shield the roof! Thanks for watching.
Thank you. That's makes complete sense. We'll try it!
David I think the joke was on you!! 😂😂
Another entertaining video with interesting views and a cliffhanger at the end!
Hope you enjoyed it. Thanks 😄
Great video "and that's no bull"😅
😁 love it!
Good to see you ramping up Sondra’s training 😅
A little bit of cross training... she's a trooper!
Love your humour, another happy blog. Thankyou. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Glad you enjoyed it, Kate. Thanks for watching the channel.
Thanks
Thanks, Kathy. The hike was about 5 miles not too much elevation gain.
"No bull" ...........LOL I love a good pun. :-) Thanks for posting.
Glad you enjoyed it and happy that you enjoy the puns too... there's going to be more of them! 😆 🤣
Star trek episode in the rocks was near Aqua Dulce in Vasquez Rocks California.
Thank you. There was a plaque on the trail which referenced Generations movie for this state park.
I was getting scared, so i subscribed..lo l😂 great video. Safe travels
Awesome! Thank you! 😆 🤣
There is no truck more comfortable than a Volvo to spend years driving! I have owned a fair few and loved them all.
Love your rig!!
Thank you, Yvette. We love our rig (home) too. The layout really suits our travel/lifestyle style.
@@bigtruckbigtravels Total admiration for you guys!!
I drove OTR for 10 years (my 50's). Never again! I am a homebody!
Stay safe and much love!!
Beautiful scenery! 👍❤
Yes it was! Thanks for watching the channel.
where did you get the cables to connect through the cat 6 connection both cables
jack
will be there in about 3 or 4 weeks
I modified the Starlink cables by cutting them and putting the cat6 connector on them. They are the same, Elon just has a unique connector.
Sending support, love, and kindness from Lexington, USA.
Thanks, Brandy. We need all the help you can send us! 🥰
Beautiful place Awesome video
Thank you very much!
Thank you been watching you both now here from Cathlamet WA state.
Awesome! Thank you!
I love you all. Non stop dad jokes, puns and double ontrondras.
Thank you. It doesn't stop! Lol 😆 😆 Appreciate your comments.
Thanks. We prefer the solitude of dry camping too but sometimes we need to be in hook ups.
I learn so much from your videos, and it all fires my imagination. "Valley of Fire," "Poverty Flats," and "Maverick Saves Us 2 Cents" sound like names of Johnny Cash songs.
Who knew:
- there was a national day for meatballs? God bless us all on National Meatball Day!.😊
- Lake Mead was once lakeside dwelling? Now it's overrun by poopy asses and wild cattle. No bull!!😂
- there was so much wildlife to be photographed in Fire State Park? Every missed opportunity makes you say, "Gosh darn it."😂
- part of being on the 7 Wonders Trail was wandering as you wondered what the 7 wonders were? The trail is littered with ironic signs.
- being outdoors could inspire so many Dad jokes? Sondra was "lichen" it, and "you rock," David!
Just so you know, I reference your videos in my Transformative Education sessions. You're a rich source of ELA, Geography, History, Math, and yes, humor.😁
Until next Thursday, God's willing, safe travels!👍🏾
Thank you very much. Appreciate your support each week and we're honored that you can find parts of the videos as useful examples in your sessions. Rock on!
Cheers from snowy French alps. Yep,we do watch your channel too , down here. 👌
Oh my & Bonjour mes amis! Are you still in winter? Love that area. I have a cap from the Mont Blanc area. Thanks for watching the channel.
Wow, David and Sondra how gorgeous were all those rocks. I hope you didn’t take them for “granite”. As for the wild cows, I think that’s “Bull”. 😂 keep the dad jokes and great videos coming.
Woohoo! Ok, Mike that is a "solid" pun with the granite...I may steal that next time. 😆 🤣 Thanks
Stewart’s point is a cool place. We camped out there with our old toy hauler years ago.
Very cool area. So much nicer than we had expected.
About the sign, you are not disobeying what is stated, it only says you are not on the trail, it's doesn't say that you can't explore further, not even any mention of danger, apart from getting lost I suppose. Awesome videos, I must watch more, thanks for sharing.
😆 🤣 that's very true! Thanks for watching the channel.
Wow. You have Prevost owners, Toter owners, giant toy hauler owners, and they all roll in feeling like they are king shit. Then you show up in that rig and just makes all the others rethink their decisions. Amazing unit. Beautiful... Good for you two!!!
Thank you. Prevost are nice, I love their slides.
what beauty of landscapes
It was gorgeous!
Mavericks ROCK!!!!!!!!
Yes! Hopefully, not ON the rocks!
We found Valley of Fire during a Vegas trip. Beautiful area, and who knew so close to the madness on The Strip. Hope you "Shale" return sometime soon! (groan). Travel safe, and I'll watch for the next one. Cheers! Pete in Arizona - KI7LIL
It's a cool area that you never want to take for "granite". Thanks 😊
I was out there the same time you were. I remember seeing your camper.
That is sooo cool! Small world.
10:57 "Poop play by play!" 😂😂
Lol 😆 😆 that was funny!
Clemson ?? Really.. You need a Florida State Seminole shirt!!😁enjoyed ur video.
Thank you!
Do you have to pull into truck scales having a rig that big and that will qualified for a commercial travel
No. Since we are registered as a private truck then we can bypass weigh stations. Thanks
Hey John and Robin from Oklahoma weekend can relate to your parking issues. We always have a parking lot full of people staring at us. We have a four-door single axle freightliner with a 40 foot fifth wheel with one more bet you can’t get in there ha ha
Thanks for sharing, John & Robin. You know exactly what we're talking about! Safe travels, maybe one day we'll see you on the road.
My wife and I really enjoy you two's travels😊 had our Whataburger today😊😊
That is awesome! Hope you enjoyed it. Appreciate your comments.
I think you guys have the best videos out there.
Thanks, Scott. We appreciate your comments.
Thanks again for this week and really laugh about the title!!😂
Glad you enjoyed it! We got some chuckles too! 😃
Another great video love when your on your hikes
Glad you enjoyed it. Lots of fun. Thanks for watching the channel.
Just were did you get the rig from and who made it please tell me about it was it mobile estates
We designed it and SpaceCraft built it over 5 years ago. Our first trailer was a mobile suites Houston.
@@bigtruckbigtravels funny thing I designed it 20 years ago
