Where are manufacturers getting their info regarding people actually liking touch screens all over the place? I absolutely cannot fathom how a person would prefer a touch screen to a dial or button in regards to climate controls and seat adjustments...
I know how you feel, I can’t even imagine trying to faff with a touch screen, taking my eyes off the road when I just simply want feel for the button to change the airflow...

I might be biased but this "coupé" SUV looks quite handsome (compared to X6), the roofline & its height it's just in the right proportion 👌🏼i so like the interior it's slick & modern, but still imma stick with my statement that in general "Coupé" SUVs are stupid.
@Cave Edico there's a few main reasons, 1st the proportion it's so awkward (look at the bmw x4, x6, or tesla model x), 2nd you don't get the practicality of a suv because of the roofline cuts the rear seats & boot space, 3rd people who bought coupe wanted a low driving position which again you don't get that in those vehicle because it's suv

Yes, it does save money, but it's more complicated than that. By using fake exhausts, manufacturers can, for example, use different rear bumper designs without needing to change the design of the exhaust system. For example, the S-line and non S-line versions of the Q8 will have different bumper designs but use the same exhaust layout. Also, many cars that have minor rear-end collisions will just need to replace the rear bumpers and not the entire exhaust system (dependant on the damage of course). There are also other factors related to thermodynamics/physics, but I don't know too much on that but I am sure you can research it if you are really interested. In the end, it is cost saving and really doesn't make much of a difference, to be honest. You might think the fake exhausts look ugly, but a potential buyer might not care at all about the fake exhausts. It is just aesthetics, and there are significantly more important factors to consider when buying a car than how the exhaust system looks. If they can save money whilst not negatively impacting sales, then why not do it?
The Audi Q8 is a beautiful SUV. I like the fact that the Q8 is very spacious in the back and have two USB ports and a 12 volt jack. the dashboard and the infotainment of the Q8 are awesome. the Q8 design is gorgeous. I like the fact that the Q8 four wheels turned when you make a turned.
Lucky enough to have been able to buy one of these. Went shopping for a Q7 but a Q8 was in the showroom next to it. It was like seeing a pretty woman at a party and thinking ‘you have to come home with me tonight’. Unlike previous situations when this thought has crossed my mind, this one did.
I know the voice commands work for the heated seats on my A6. I ordered a Q8 yesterday so will find out in a few months if it works on a Q8. Saying "Set heated seats to level 3" usually does the job!

Frameless doors. I had these on one of my cars and I wasn't a fan. When the doors are closed (most of the time) you can't even tell they're there and when its frosty or icy, they can stick. This is really unnerving when you want to open the door in winter and they can't slide up/down that little bit that they're supposed to so that they can fit the seals. If anything they are now something that I would avoid on a car. Great review though, keep them coming!

As a short arse person myself I love an electric seat that raises you up high, one important aspect though is not the proximity to the sun visor but the closeness to the AIRBAG, which obviously has the potential to do you serious harm in the case of an accident, for this reason I would suggest the electric moveable steering wheel which in my opinion should be standard is worth paying for the sake of your life.
Mat you say that the automatic gearbox has a delay, you said this about the volvo’s as well but pretty much every normal automatic car has a delay like that except for the ones that use ZF gearboxes. Everyone who drives an auto knows that you dont floor it immediately when you see a gap, just press the pedal down in a linear way and the car will respond just fine and quick enough to get in the gap.

I think Audi are doing it right when it comes to their new design(except for the tips in some models..), as well as compared to Merce or BMW.. And just the way that they went for the frameless door windows!

Maybe it's just me but I've noticed that over the years western car manufacturers have slowly conditioned us all that it's okay to spend a _significant_ quantum of funds, that historically we might think best reserved for hand crafted luxury cars, on mass market, Chinese robot constructed, flimsy supermarket sweep trolleys, such as this Q8. I'm not saying the Q8 is terrible, quite the opposite, and yes, people need yachts, but is the Q8 anywhere near £65,000 of parts and labour??? Is the X7 really the same money as a half decent old Rolls Royce???? Is the super simple Flymo electric lawn mower with Ikea interior Tesla really £100,000???? Really? In nearly 2019????? You could actually forget this Audi and instead purchase two terrible houses in Liverpool for £65,000. And then, to sprinkle on some salt onto your heavily wounded bank account, Audi then have the gall to hand over a 'base model' for £65k, meaning this robotically constructed contraption will probably come with stiff wooden bench seats and a rubbish transistor radio sounding audio system. The thing will then depreciate like a block of lead falling off an ocean liner, see the SQ7, and Audi won't cover the 'gap' with their insurance policies because they too know it's really only worth half of whatever they are actually asking. If you think these tin cans are somehow well constructed and worth the, frankly, outrageous asking prices, go look at the TH-cam video of the near £100k R8, pampered and barely a decade old, with a _common_ fault of a huge crack in the *chassis* . Reminds me of the Mercs that ending up needing new suspension as part of a *service* . Unbelievable. Price gauging at its worst if you ask me and I wish Clarkson, May and Hammond were still properly around to help keep these guys honest. Seems the Japanese cars are starting to make more sense as time goes on...
Basically you completely IGNORED the costs of designing, the whole manufacture infrastructure (which is often billions of dollars for EACH series/model), freight, advertising and all the operation expenses for a car company to exist and survive.
This looks good. The x6 looks like it's got a botched plastic surgery on it's "back end" . And the GLE looks like the designer forgot what he was designing after the b pillar.

According to a buddy of mine who works at audi corprate, their is not going to be a RSQ8 at least not in US, they say it will take sales away from the Urus, but the Sq8 is coming and I can't wait for that.
I really hate the cruise control stick . Those controls should be on the wheel. I always mistake that with the turn signal stick. Also at VW I mistake those controls for the audio volume.
Matt on point, infotaiment is much easyer and safer to use in Audi Q7, with rotary wheel and you dont have to take your eyes of the road so much and I really hate touch screen and streaching your arm all the time. I drive the new A4 with MMI plus, virtual cocpit and that system is great and safe !

You could actually forget this Audi and instead purchase two terrible houses in Liverpool for £65,000.
And then, to sprinkle on some salt onto your heavily wounded bank account, Audi then have the gall to hand over a 'base model' for £65k, meaning this robotically constructed contraption will probably come with stiff wooden bench seats and a rubbish transistor radio sounding audio system. The thing will then depreciate like a block of lead falling off an ocean liner, see the SQ7, and Audi won't cover the 'gap' with their insurance policies because they too know it's really only worth half of whatever they are actually asking.
If you think these tin cans are somehow well constructed and worth the, frankly, outrageous asking prices, go look at the TH-cam video of the near £100k R8, pampered and barely a decade old, with a _common_ fault of a huge crack in the *chassis* . Reminds me of the Mercs that ending up needing new suspension as part of a *service* . Unbelievable.
Price gauging at its worst if you ask me and I wish Clarkson, May and Hammond were still properly around to help keep these guys honest. Seems the Japanese cars are starting to make more sense as time goes on...

Basically you completely IGNORED the costs of designing, the whole manufacture infrastructure (which is often billions of dollars for EACH series/model), freight, advertising and all the operation expenses for a car company to exist and survive.

I really hate the cruise control stick . Those controls should be on the wheel. I always mistake that with the turn signal stick. Also at VW I mistake those controls for the audio volume.

Matt on point, infotaiment is much easyer and safer to use in Audi Q7, with rotary wheel and you dont have to take your eyes of the road so much and I really hate touch screen and streaching your arm all the time. I drive the new A4 with MMI plus, virtual cocpit and that system is great and safe !
