I own a '22 Q8 50 TDi and I'm glad the facelift hasn't changed too much. Not a lot of changes were needed. Comfortable and hugely practical - I sawn 2 old fence panels in half and they both fitted into the back no problem.
Looks like a lovely car and well well-presented. But I am struggling with the term "new model" being used. Surely this is little more than a refresh or facelift.
Previous owner of a Q8, now have the SQ8. It is a heavy vehicle so there are limits. The V8 is better matched for a more spirited ride. My 19 Q8 had the remapped transmission coding done, and it helped, but adding a throttle controller helped immensely-easy plug and play. On both the ride is very smooth, and with the US Prestige package the double panes glass really quiets things down. My SQ8’s rear wheel steering and air suspension and the active control arms are an improvement overall. That said I agree the facelift is not significant, and in my opinion does not bring the look “forward”. But to each his own.
At least Porsche changed some of the dash layout on their Cayenne facelift I don't even think this qualifies as a facelift as the changes are so minor and meaningless
That must be the laziest facelift ever. Had the same drivetrain in a Q7 and the gearbox issue is really bad, especially when trying to pull out into fast moving traffic from a rolling start. It really feels like Audi just can’t be bothered to develop their ICE cars any more and are just trying to make an old range last as long as possible.
Totally wrong. They are developing NEW models that will be launched in about 3/4 years. I own a 2023 Q8 TDI, owned another Q8 in the past and they are really good. This new 2024 model is just a facelift. The Q8 is a best seller so they didn't need to overhaul it completely. The are working on the new Q8 which won't be a facelift.
@@bejbogdan750 that is encouraging to hear but Audi have said that they are not developing and new engines after 2026 and the current Q7 for example is coming up for 9 years old albeit with a facelift in 2020. Even halo cars like the RS4 comp had no engine work and the final edition TT and R8 were a joke. Don’t get me wrong, I love the brand and I am on my 13th Audi at the moment. I just think they are not innovating enough. Even their EV’s are so far behind the competition in terms of efficiency. Just because we are brand loyal does not mean that we should settle for mediocrity
@@charliechetwood2358 sorry to say but the gearbox in my car is very responsive. early models had laggy gearbox software but they fixed them via updates, some cars never got the updates though. but as far as I am concerned, the gearbox is very very good.
Q7, Q8, A8 haven’t changed for years!! Any reason why that is? Usually all leading car manufacturers facelift or bring in a newer version every few years but Audi hadn’t!! Would like to know the reasons behind it!!
We can always start with the main reason...it saves them $$$...but the dashborad/cockpit was so nice in regards to layout it heavily weighed in on my decision to get one.
I currently own a 2022 Q8 Hybrid and love it. I have just ordered a Cayenne Coupe s hybrid and to me the car is better. It is more expensive but drives smaller, i have gone rear wheel steering i didn't have before. It is going to be a lot quicker with more power and better gear box. It has over the air updates for software which have been my biggest moan about the Q8. I may have considered another Q8 if it had a hybrid but doesn't right now and to me the Porsches seems slightly better in so many ways.
Did What Car? or perhaps Audi send you to SA for the slight facelift of a low-volume over-sized Diesel? I can’t help wondering whether that’s an essential use of energy ressources…

This is probably a worse Q8 than the outgoing one if the only thing they could improve is the exterior lighting, if we can call that improvement because they look cheaper. Expect the powertrains to be worse than the previous ones as well. Hard pass!

It reminds me of the 80’s when Ford used to bring out a new model with plastic bumpers and then just paint them body colour for the facelift.
