Howdy gamers, thanks for stopping by! I'm not a march to 500 subscribers so if you liked this video please consider subscribing, I've got lots more coming, including a look at individual settings and how they effect visuals and performance in games like Cyberpunk 2077, Helldivers II, and Alan Wake 2!
I appreciate the feedback! Let me know if you have any other suggestions for games or other things to look at, I’m always trying to improve and expand my horizons 😁
Those artifacts you see on Alan Wake 2 in front of the water are from Screen Space Reflections, which works by reflecting what's on screen. RT cancels the screen space reflections and that's why those artifacts disappear. Screen Space Ambient Occlusion has similar artifacts around characters in the dark next to light sources, you might see an "aura" or dark area. It appears in many games under many circumstances. This being one of the benefits of Ray Tracing for developers, cleaning up the "screen space" based effects.
@@acriptyc5953its perfect if you just discard the vram issue however going for used/newish amd gpu at that price really seems to be the play for future proofing
Same situation. Had a asus strix oc. Was feeling paranoid at 4k with that 10g and ended up buying a 4080 before Starfield came so I could experience it no issues. I was right the 3080 really struggled on Starfield and just playing pt and everything at 4k is a treat.
i was comparing 4000 series to my 3080 looking for an upgrade. anything below 4070 ti wasnt worth upgrading - no fps difference 4070 ti super - 10-15% peformance increase - not worth at all. the only worth thing was vram increase, 4080 super - it would cost me 3x the price for my used 3080 if i would sell it, just to gain 30% performance increase. No, thanks. 4090 - it costs 2300 USD in my country. No, thanks, im sticking with my 3080. And in terms of dlss 3, well... we got a free fsr3 mod which works amazing. welp, im waiting for 5080/5090.
the reflex feature option (ingame)is so amazing in games like Quake champions/Splitgate on 144hz and Gsync monitor.. the updates and the response feelings..
I just got a 3080 2nd hand to last me till the end of the year upgraded over an rx6600. Cost me £320. I dont actually have a 1440p monitor lmao. I sell occasionally a pre built figured I'd win a little either way if my build comes with a 3080.
The 3080 10gb is an efficiency machine, if it had more VRAM it would have been a beast mode card. NVIDIA Things I guess. I play SIM racing titles at 7680 x 1440 across triple screens and it's still a great option, I find more issues these days are game polish and the lack of optimization. Wait a year for games to be optimized and it's a rock solid card.
I had one. Its what i thought it would barely be a 4k card by the time the 50 series came. Sounds like a good 1440p card today. Have you ran into any vram issues at 1440p???
the 3080 is still a great card for 1440p, sad it only had 10gb at first, i was sadly made to spend 1550usd on a 3080 rog strix when it released, 2080super gave up, had no choice lol, had the 3080 12gb been out, i would've gotten that instead, but i was stuck with the 10gb for 1550 bucks!!!!! should've been ONLY 12gb for the 3080 as its just such a powerful gpu, 3070 should've had 8gb, 3070ti 10gb as 3070ti is also WAAAAY to powerful to have only 8gb. yes the 3080 can still remain decently well for the coming 1-2 years but man its starting to creep up slowly.... sad to see. great gpus overall.
Is RTX3080 good for video editing in 2024? How many additional fans does it need for a normal daily work because I've heard this card is kind of "hot"?
im looking to buy a 3080 or 6800xt used, for 1440p competitive gaming and some productivity on the side, which gpu should i go for if both cost the same?
What kind of productivity work are you doing? For competitive gaming I would almost always go with the 6800xt, but if your productivity work leverages Nvidia in a major way that could swing it.
Ok, especially for Blender you want to go with Nvidia, the OptiX API is a lot farther along than AMD. More VRAM would be better but overall Nvidia is the way to go for Blender work. Photoshop and AE are mostly leveraging CPU.
im not sure if i could play vr cyberpunk with 3080, my 3070 definitely couldnt and amd software reporting over 10gb usage of vram. I cant even play with mods without getting stutters with my 6700 xt, at least not in 2k with frame gen and from what i see, you are scraping the maximum constantly. are you sure you dont get stutters after playing for an hour?
hey can you help , i got a 3080 but i dont know what should i get a 27 2k moniter or 1080 , i usually play and prefer to have higher fps even if its not fps demanding game and i dont mind sacrficing some quality by playing on high instead of ultra and even some medious settings , will a 1440p and 3080 get me 120-150fps at least
Oh sorry, my last reply was supposed to be for someone else D: My monitor has an option to not stretch out the image to fill the screen, so I had black bars around the edges of the screen. I don't know if every monitor can do this but my Gigabyte one can.
Nah get the 6800XT much better option anything under a 3090 should not be bought used. Especially considering that Nvidia cards are all overpriced when you look at their AMD counterparts just to underperform heavily years later please do not make this mistake.
100%. No one should buy a 3080. Complete rip compared to better/cheaper amd cards. Now if you’re talking $250 for a 2080ti, yeah you can get good frames / $.

I had the 3080FE for 4k gaming up until RE4 Remake, that 10G of VRAM really killed the card for me. Sold it for a 4080 and couldnt be happier.
just bought that exact card for 350$. i’m using it for 1080p and getting a 1440p monitor around black friday. will this card perform alright?
