"We know we're selling out so it's cool!" Ok that one got a chuckle out of me. I used to love the original show as a kid, going to have to check out this reboot.
Being "Self Aware" is a corporate trend as well. "We know we're selling out. So it's cool," might not be so much an admission of selling out as opposed to a researched punchline that the audience would favor. It may also be stating how other creative people convince themselves that, "It's okay that I'm selling out, because I know I am!"

This is why Deadpool 2 wasn't good. It thinks it can entertain you with letting you know how self aware it is but it doesn't offer any new ideas in the end so it's ultimately a snooze fest.
In other news I love the Animaniacs I have my whole life I rushed home from school in order to get things done in order to turn them on at 4 o’clock every single day I love them I love them I love them
I don't know about Beavis and Butthead (never watched it) but I argue the Simpsons did contribute to the adult cartoon scene due to its iconoclasm of tropes until they follow the tropes they are criticizing. Animaniacs' message remains relevant because how little it change between the 1990's and 2020...
Ren and Stimpy actually created the humor that most adult cartoons use. Fun Fact: Both Beavis and Butthead and Rick and Morty were both inspired by Ren and Stimpy.
My age is right in the Animaniacs' wheelhouse. I was in my later years of elementary school during its run, and, man, I LOVED that show. I'd watch every day after school. There were so many jokes packed into it that, yeah, some surely went over my head, but I knew they were going over my head, so it encouraged me to listen and think about the jokes and maybe to be open to older pop culture, like earlier 20th C entertainment (and the longer i watched, the fewer went over my head). It was just very stimulating and sharp. And of course, as a kid, I loved all the anvils and mallets... obviously. Looking back, i feel like it had a significant influence on me in a way that I've enjoyed.
2020 Animaniacs has surprisingly biting commentary. I went back to watch the Original when I finished it and they're like two different shows. I like them both but I feel like the new one's written for 20 somethings. It's really cool to me but I could see people hating how different it is. Idk. Anyone have any thoughts?
I have yet to watch the reboot, but from what I can tell the ratio of "adult humor/references" to more basic slapstick might be more than the original. But since there is far more content over the full span of the original, there are still just as many or more adult jokes. I think the goal was to fit as much of the more biting commentary into the reboot so as not to disappoint those who remembered all those type jokes in the original.

Not just with influencers and social media, but something that could be said about social dynamics in general! Even without the Internet and most media inventions, there's always been an instinct to some degree of people (and many similar intelligent/group-dynamic species in general) to be conscientious about where we are within a social structure/community and act within it in some way, particularly when social hierarchies are involved.
Hell, the TH-cam algorithm is no different, by reading this and commenting/replying you add your "Attention" to this video and propel it (and the creator) further ahead.
The TV Show “Corporate” talk about exactly the point that the tv shows are going to be written by the data colected by their consumers, look it up, is an episode about the TV Show called Society Tomorrow and their own netflix
The Animaniacs reboot got real cynical about politics too. There was one Pinky & the Brain sketch where some lobbyist offered a politician guy a big check, and the politician basically said something like, "I feel like it would be unethical for me to accept this," and then they both just burst out laughing. And I'm pretty sure in that same sketch, the Brain (masquerading as a politician) made some joke about invading a South American country so he could get better coffee. It was hilarious, but also *ouch.*
This might be Wisecrack's best video in years. And I tend to like most of their videos--this one is just above the rest in a special way. Stunning work!
I'm just glad this show is coming back. I grew up loving this show and its nice to see a revival. Only show i can think of, that i actually want to see coming back with a bang. And the design is honestly closer to the original design than any other animated revival I've seen so far.
I remember seeing some discussions on a similar track a few years ago. The concept brought up was that because of the presumed expense of making a movie, TV show or any other property the person who pushes for it ends up under a lot of pressure. If it fails and was a fairly original property they often have a lot less to protect themselves with, whereas if they have a ton of market data that shows it should have worked they at least have some level of protection. This is why we might have a thousand remakes or movies based on random properties that are at least somewhat well known if only because if it bombs it's safer for the person who pushed it forward. Not to mention how many times they may just slap a differnt name and make a few changes to an existing script to fulfill a contract involving a property or something similar (see also Wanted)
10:27 When I studied marketing a couple of years back they mentioned this process and how frightening how much information a business can gather from social media alone. Fun fact within Facebook they can come up with a profile on who they think you are. CNET did a video on their channel explaining as such; as most people are wary of clicking on links the name of this video is 'Limit what Facebook shares about you.'
We don't "receive a dime" for our attention because our compensation is entertainment that in other circumstances (movie theaters, concerts, stadiums) we have to pay for. Considering how pricey those are, we are being paid a lot.
I missed the Animaniacs, and was kinda wondering why there wasn't anything "new" done with them.... Thanks for the vid, now excuse me, while I'm looking for.... Well, where to watch the "og" show.
The animaniacs reboot existence alone is already some sort of critique material that I doubt they will poke fun at. As far as I know, they made the reboot without even telling the original creator, and then went on to tell that they did

Not just with influencers and social media, but something that could be said about social dynamics in general! Even without the Internet and most media inventions, there's always been an instinct to some degree of people (and many similar intelligent/group-dynamic species in general) to be conscientious about where we are within a social structure/community and act within it in some way, particularly when social hierarchies are involved.
man is it good to have the animaniacs back with both the funny and the social commentary
meanwhile my contributuion to the industry so far is an artist's co-operative in which all members have an equal share and say.
It's not a creative industry, it's the industry of creativity.
The point about Brain using memes to control people..have you guys done a vid on Metal Gear Rising?
YES PLEASE GOD, the mother of all memes Jack!
Making the mother of all omelettes here

Audience members being both consumers and producers of their own content is a weird kind of ouroborus I was not expecting
Hell, the TH-cam algorithm is no different, by reading this and commenting/replying you add your "Attention" to this video and propel it (and the creator) further ahead.
Animaniacs (the reboot) seems to be a mix of silly slapstick and extremely sharp social satire. 11/10!
The TV Show “Corporate” talk about exactly the point that the tv shows are going to be written by the data colected by their consumers, look it up, is an episode about the TV Show called Society Tomorrow and their own netflix
haruki murakami wrote a phrase in Dance Dance Dance that i love: "shoveling cultural snow"

Superheroes I hear you saaaaaaaaaay?
This might be Wisecrack's best video in years. And I tend to like most of their videos--this one is just above the rest in a special way. Stunning work!
It's practically the Zeitgeist documentaries and Culture In Decline in cartoon form!
"Ummmm Mr.Speilberg your properties are going on strike..."
Wisecrack should be paying us to watch Wisecrack.
Unionize now!!!!!
I just realized that Brain sounds strikingly like Kevin Spacey
That got super meta at one point. Jared would be so proud.
I'm just glad this show is coming back. I grew up loving this show and its nice to see a revival. Only show i can think of, that i actually want to see coming back with a bang. And the design is honestly closer to the original design than any other animated revival I've seen so far.
The Animaniacs reboot is not made by the original people and they got Family Guy writes for the Animaniacs reboot.
Jeez, I watched this show as a kid and all of this stuff flew over my head
10:27 When I studied marketing a couple of years back they mentioned this process and how frightening how much information a business can gather from social media alone. Fun fact within Facebook they can come up with a profile on who they think you are. CNET did a video on their channel explaining as such; as most people are wary of clicking on links the name of this video is 'Limit what Facebook shares about you.'
I loved the reboot. People who thought it was too pessimistic I think may be trying to hold on to a reality that’s not there.
Wow. 0:20 ... I remember watching that when I was a kid, but now hearing it...wow. And it almost flew over my head, even now, too. lol.
We don't "receive a dime" for our attention because our compensation is entertainment that in other circumstances (movie theaters, concerts, stadiums) we have to pay for. Considering how pricey those are, we are being paid a lot.
It’s time for Animaniacs!
I loved this show back in the day.
Whoa! I never saw Animaniacs that way! That's why there's so much inside film industry jokes!
Contract negotiations got you afraid of getting egg on your face? Call Irving "Swify" Laboo!
The irony of the bald guy with a hat on hawking Keeps in this video is a nice touch.
I missed the Animaniacs, and was kinda wondering why there wasn't anything "new" done with them.... Thanks for the vid, now excuse me, while I'm looking for.... Well, where to watch the "og" show.
Too edgy for anything "new" huh?
@@jaymanier7286 nope, just good old Nostalgie from way back, kinda grew up with it. Well ok, the German dub, but still.
The animaniacs reboot existence alone is already some sort of critique material that I doubt they will poke fun at. As far as I know, they made the reboot without even telling the original creator, and then went on to tell that they did
That’s just plain rude and disrespectful, they are doing the same thing with the Tiny Toons reboot.
I still love Animainiacs. It was kids cartoon show, but written for adults.

Brain: do you know what most humans use phones for ???
Pinky: i think so, but i dont think i can say it... 😂😂
I cant with him 😂
Spot on with the corners probably just slightly shaved down. I'd go on to say everything talked about applies to the majority of big companies today.
Its not just entertainment, its all industry. We are all consumed as part of a process that works itself out like a ruthless food chain.
Brilliant tv show so much depth.
Animaniacs and other examples of "mature" subjects marketed to kids is why my vocabulary is so large.
So hard to find any reboot nowadays that truly honors its origin. Maybe it's because Animaniacs has always been self-aware.
There's bologna in our slacks and hair in my jeans? Somebody better clean out all this dirty laundry
This video was very interesting. It made me remember how the Tiny Toons show had similar sketches.
We KNOW we're selling out, so its cool

This video is just The Social Dilemma: Abridged
I think reading Greecoroman tragedies is essential for kids, because it instills the fear of death, which is important for a good life. Watching cartoons that are cynical about their own industry also pushes in that direction.
