What is that top piece called at 7:00 mine is cracked in only that spot and been trying to find a replacement but i dont know the name of just that little part that connects to the intake
Thank you zaiten, replaced my valve cover gasket on my 640i following this video, when removing valve cover the plastic piece that clips inside valve cover disconnected from valve cover, reinstalled valve cover without putting that plastic piece back on inside valve cover ! (Forgot about it) How important is that for functioning of the car ??? Thanks
I did. didn't wanted to deal with the breather valve so I just changed the whole thing to have peace for the longest possible time. may have not been necessary though. you can also just use the old one if theres no problem with it.
God, i so wish I the confidence to do this but I have NO prior experience with car mechanics. Not only that but I have no one to help/guide me. And its my only car so it sucks being in a position where you want to do it, but not having the resources and plan b to do so
that's true. this is also not the job I'd recommend as a first timer. but you can slowly build up confidence and knowledge by starting small. every mechanic started with an oil change :)
I replaced the valve cover gasket and as soon as i started the car I got a crankshaft position sensor code what can that be. Please help. Its my only car to get to work.
sorry for the late reply. did you sort it out? it seems completely unrelated. unless you didn't disconnect the battery and shorted something, it must be some electronic gremlin. even if something fell in, it would be noticeable but still wouldn't change the timing.
do it! you wont believe how often I have to check back on my own videos to see what went where when working on something the first time. you'll thank yourself later

not sure which piece that would be. I don't remember moving anything over from inside the cover
Did you buy a whole new valve cover?? I thought you were replacing the valve cover gasket?

Do you have to remove and reinstall spark plugs when replacement valve cover gasket?
can stay in place. but doesn't hurt to have a look at the condition
@@BONDGarage but dont you have to remove the coils and plugs to remove the cover?
@@socommaster coils yes, plugs no. they screw into the head
@@BONDGarage arent the plugs attached to the coils?
@@socommaster they snap on. just pull them out and you should be good to go

@@BONDGarage yes i did, ended up just changing the crankshaft sensor and it ended up going away. Thanks for the reply tho.
@@heythere8190 those are the worst when one part decides to die and it coincides with a repair you just did. glad it was an easy fix
Where is your shop located
I'm shop-less lol
just operating out of the homely garage
My issue is I forget how to put everything back, maybe I should record myself 🤔
