How To Install HAND LEVERS and New GRIPS on BMW R NineT | R9T Build Part 12 | BOND Garage
มุมมอง 18728 วันที่ผ่านมา
In this part of my BMW R NineT Build I'll change the hand levers and the rubber grips. Since this is my first time changing grips I spend some time researching methods of how to remove and install grips on bikes. My R9T has heated grips and while a little bit finicky it's possible to replace the grips. The old rubbers were completely smooth and didn't offer any semblance of grip. The new ones g...

where did you get your feeler gauge set?
People who don’t know what there doing…. An drive isn’t just a rear drive plus front drive. Because of power distribution to the front you have a thinner rear driveshaft plus the front geometry is different. Just get yourself a new diff. It’s a nice system. Btw, removing front driveshaft and use xDelete willtransfer load on internal bearings inside transfer case that are not designed for this load. Want to make it true and reliable xDelete without fron drive parts? Disassemble transfercase and remove clutch and big sprocket
on the front end there should be a plate that sits between the sway bar bushing and the subframe, your is missing, and probably why your bush has been lose in the first place. I just did mine on a 2011 F11 and you definitely have the spacer missing.
Sorry commented too early and saw that you had the plate later in the video for the replacement.
Mate, can you post the metal clips link where to buy for the rear bumper
I appreciate jumping right to it with no BS at the beginning. 11:03 Front install begins
Yeh but at least show us the results. I never understand videos like these. You making a change to a car but yet you don't show the after result
Your magnet does seem weak. Mine stays nice and tight. I agree. You should be able to tighten the swivel screw. I tried to tighten it as well. They probably should make the cap lighter. It seems like it’s too heavy.
Thanks
The box works for a 2024 RAV 4.
Did you have to remove anything from top of engine when you lifted the engine from the bottom
Did you use an engine hoist or just lift from the bottom? And did you lift from the oil pan?
It's a matter of taste. However it is really flimsy and that would annoy me. Then, the magnet issue is bad. That will certainly move and open as soon as you apply the brakes. That's a no-go for me. Sorry but I wouldn't recommend this addition to any-one. Thanks all the same for the video.
my menu is completely different, I get test / system / end of test .... my head is melted
Loving the R9T series so far, keep up the good work!
Bought a Box that worked for my wife's 19 subaru but DIDN'T work with my 13 Dodge.
I just got my replaced but now when it’s opening it’s catching something when trim is on 😖
Hi what is the longevity of the faraday pouch? Like do we have to keepy buying them every 8 - 12 months?
Awesome video, great explanation and Canberra work, very easy to follow. I have been researching different light kits for F10 for the past two months, I am just afraid of longevity issues. May I ask, how have these held up over the years? Any issues?
they've been holding up fine for the longest time. just recently (maybe 2 months ago) one of the strips that go in the door pocket showed issues and would deviate. maybe I bend it a little too much when installing. my biggest gripe though are the cups for the door handles. they will most definitely break when they have to come out again and for some reason they made it the key gateway for the door lights..
Very good.
Thank you!
Why is it that the pouch stop working after a while and the doors open even car start
that really shouldn't be. just checked mine again and luckily working still fine.
I love the looks and ride of bmw I want one so bad but all I hear are horror stories about dependability I don't know why they can't make a dependable car with as much as they charge for them
I agree. would be nicer if they wouldn't need any repairs. but on the upside you'll enjoy driving them every time. also have a Lexus in the family and had another Lexus temporarily.. they're known for being reliable but they have no soul. they do the job but I actually rather be the passenger in those since the drive is so uninspiring.
The engine should run to relearn. I had similar problems at 67k miles. Tried to relearn the valve 4 times with failure. codes and check engine light came back. So 5th time I warmed up the car to full temperature, turned on lights, ac, blower on max, music, and clicked relearn. And after 450 shakes of the whole car it was done. 72k miles on dash no codes. Hope that helps
worth a try!
@BONDGarage also try different version of software. BTW I did not use xcom. Just mhd adapter and windows laptop. My problems started with dashcam draining the battery and bmw was turning off all power to the car with warning about draining battery. I would replace, charge, and register the battery if it's old. Stock tune maybe. I'll send you my software version number in few hr
How often should the clutch spline be lubricated? My '86 R-80 owner handbook recommended every 6 months or 6000 miles and I can do it in about an hour but that seems like a lot of work on the R nine T if I have to take off the rear frame.
that's a good question. Haynes manual doesn't specify this interval. IMO 6 months is way too often. I'd probably say 12k miles or every 2 years. if the bikes sees water regularly, maybe more often.
Great video. Can you share how to get/use Ista? I’m using a foxwell nt510. Works great but the handhelds are a pain for detailed diagnosis and work such as the eccentric shaft. I’ve got a lci f10 nearing 90k and an f15 that just hit 100k. Just wanna be prepared. Thanks.
I got mine from vxdas. believe that's a Chinese operation but comes with laptop and everything preinstalled. I believe there are some forums that share links to get it for free but that's also somewhat sketchy if you don't know you you're dealing with.
Where's the link?
in the video description
My front drivers door handle just happened right after I was finished replacing the rear door lock actuators. 😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬
they are somewhat the same ago so it's not too uncommon. on the bright side you know what to do and have it sorted out 👍🏻
Great video! Do you think it is possible to also remove the transfer case to shed some extra weight? The only reason I got an x-drive was because I prefer the hydraulic steering but would now like to remove everything x-drive related.
good thought. you'd need the rwd driveshaft from tranny to rear diff to replace the awd parts but it might actually bolt right up. let me know how it goes if you move forward!
Nice video😊 And your f10 is. . . ??
one is waiting for an engine rebuild and the other is being driven 😊
Very clear. Excellent small observations and tips. Compliments on the English as well!
Thank you very much! appreciate it!

Will this cause leaking inside the car?
this alone shouldn't cause any leaks. it's more to keep dirt and debris out.
Don’t you have to run wires from lcm module to the rear light?
no. either those cables are in already or it's utilizing a canbus, but you "only" need to wire from the light switch to the LCM in the passenger right footwell, and in the trunk from the TCM to the lights. I wonder if the European or Canadian models have a TCM even when the car doesn't have towing capabilities (just for the rear fog lights) or if they're wired straight from the LCM..
❤ N1
Great
Is it the same process for a 2014 bmw 650i?
should be
What if u don't register the battery do u get a error on dashboard
I don't think so. the point of registering the battery to the car is: the car monitors the battery health and adjusts the charging accordingly. when you replace an old, insufficient battery with a new one and don't tell the car about it, it will "treat" it as if it was that old battery. so it may over- or undercharge it, reducing the life of that new battery. and this is an relatively old car. newer cars are even more complex and finicky with their electronics so let's not even get into that.
I had my s1000xr gen2 2020 in for 18000 miles service valve cleaner was, within tolerance after the cost of £630
that's quite a machine! and that's quite a price lol. didn't know the service cost
Genius!
This same thing is happening to my M4. It seems to be a problem common to all BMWs over many years. Why does BMW not fix this problem properly rather than making this one of the first failure points on all their cars?
probably because they're mainly designed for lease and to look good for the first customer. 10 years down the road doesn't really affect those decisions unfortunately. just noticed that the big side covers in the engine bay also fall apart. it's getting out of hand..
Hey mate, what is the software you use and how much does it cost? Does it work with newer BMW models? Cheers
for the E53 I use PAsoft. haven't tried it on never models though
What brand of jack stands are you using, they seem to be great for the F10! Excellent video for RWD!
should be these here: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B011VH7TH2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 they work great for bmws. dropped a Toyota product on it also but that cuts the rubber. so if you can have dedicated top inserts even better.
Cheers for this video. I just watched out of curiosity as I do want to retrofit front and rear fog lights to my daily, an 02 Opel Astra. My first German car, same generation year as your E53, but a far less complex car. Kudos for doing it the right way too, using correct connector sizes and reusing OEM connectors. I would love to fit LED bumper mounted, as halogen is such old technology and isn’t as bright. I subscribed; I enjoy your work on complex vehicles!
Thanks mate! really appreciate you! back in school there was an Astra bertone coupe in town with an utterly nice bodykit. loved that car! can't find any pics tho. I'd say you can do it! have LEDs in other cars and love it. looks very clean. but for this X5 I had a different plan. check out the bumper I build for this thing and you know why. also dropped some 100W bulbs in there but would say still not as effective as LEDs.
ABSOLUTELY GREAT INSTRUCTOR HIGHLY INFORMATIVE THANK YOU
Thank you very much!!
I did IS conversion too, in June all oem, was worth it, expensive as hell though. I recommend getting style 87s, I have them on my LCI E53, with 35mm rear spacer and 25 front H&R, but I’m soon getting 10.5 style 87s up front and remove spacer to have a squared setup. Fitment is perfect, if you have camber 35 if your camber is normal passing specs 30mm spacer rear
those are definitely the right wheels for this car. those 5 spokes look beefy and I like em more than the 4.8is wheels! but I'll actually be going down to 17s trying to fit 305s on there all around 😁
Hello, it seems to be a lot of work... Is there a way to make them work by making a connection from the other headlights? Thank you in advance
It needs a switch in the cabin to function as true fog lights. If you wired DRL you could but it’s still similar amount of work.
theoretically you could pinch into the wire for the front fogs and lead it back to the rear so that all (front and rear) come on with one button. but that might cause some trouble since the load is changed. if you already go through that trouble it's just 30 min away from doing it OEM. the newer platforms like F10 have all the wiring done in a more modern way so that you can only add the bulbs and change the switch and it's done.
You sound like the Germans 😅
you know your accents 😁
Thanks for this video, man. I upgraded my sway bars nearly a year and half ago. Two months in to this upgrade i had this horrible clunking and had multiple people check it and to be told the cars solid. So after watching your video i bought the bushings and had them replaced yesterday and let me tell you the car feels absolutely amazing no clunks, firm on the road and it finally feels like the car i bought 2 years ago.
That's why I make these videos. Was in the same boat and it's so much better now. Glad it helped you!
Mine fold in and out again what do u think thaf is
happened on my passenger mirror also. replaced the passenger window switch. The mirror harness passes through the window switch cluster and they tend to go bad.

I've seen some places that sell a different housing with fan included and was considering making that thermo upgrade but then I got sidetracked and just see how long it'll last. and yea the N20 is kinda crab 😂
Would you say that changing the fluid can possibly help prevent this from happening?
possibly. in general, transmission/diff fluids should be changed regularly like all 50k miles maybe. the oil does pick up all the debris and shavings from normal wear. but in this case I believe they accidentally drained the oil when replacing an axle and then it just ran with too little oil.
Where did you get the fuil pump from ??
amazon. it's a 450 LPH Walbro
