This character is clearly on the spectrum with little empathy and unable to understand social clues or what is appropriate to say in delicate situations.

I'm not so sure she's on the spectrum. It's possible that she puts up walls to protect herself and has a difficult time expressing empathy because of it. She's also so determined to be the perfect doctor that she sometimes ignores her patients' wishes when they're not seeing eye to eye.

The misconceptionabout people on the spectrum is that they don’t have empathy. When really their version of empathy is just slightly different in the way the respond to it. Logical facts and rationality especially when great things are at risk is their way of empathy.
The same thing with telling the truth, they believe telling someone the truth is more beneficial for them than lying to them to save their feelings for a brief moment, because in the long run, lying to them isn’t helping them. People on the spectrum look at the bigger picture, and in fact, the way they look at the world is completely different than most people.
When the diagnosis is explained to you, you find out that the way we look at the world is very unique and full of wonder.
In fact, most people on the spectrum feel overwhelming sense of empathy, and they can pick up on emotions. We just don’t always know the best way to proceed or handle the situation
In fact, one might argue your comment lacked empathy.
It sounds like you don’t know too much about people on the spectrum.
Sincerely yours someone on the spectrum
Ps I’m not saying what she did was legally right and maybe not even morally right but it definitely was the logical route which was fueled by her need to save the woman’s life so there is empathy there. She could be on the spectrum or she couldn’t. Either way there’s empathy there

@@jmcb00 A lot of us are also able to show empathy in the same way a person not on the spectrum might. Heck, for some of us, anxiety can even accompany empathy because we feel so much.

@@sadem1045 exactly. We’re not sociopaths. We have the ability for empathy and to feel emotions to the point that it’s almost overwhelming. We just don’t always know how to respond to emotions sometimes and even when we do like you said some of us to have anxiety about it

Like Dr. Latham, the recurring character that is an Autistic, Dr. Curry may be an undiagnosed Autistic.
There should be an episode where Dr. Curry actually is suspected of being an Autistic, gets tested, and is consulted by Dr. Latham, explaining Autism to her. Done right (there should be a real Autistic there on the set as a technical advisor), this would be a great episode on adults dealing with a late diagnosis of Autism.

Her essentially telling a patient to K*LL themselves because they're and incel should have gotten her fired right then. It makes me cackle how horrible she is at her job, always hated this character. I genuinely think that her character is supposed to be some kind of anti-social personality disorder because i can't think of any other reason she would act like that as a nurse/doctor...

I don't think the clip where she yells at the incel belongs in this compilation. The guy was psychologically messed up, yes, but he was disrespectful and dangerous. He tried to murder someone because she would not go on a date with him. If I were her I would not have told the patient to kill himself but I would not have been calm either. Women doctors and nurses should not be expected to care for incels - if a man doctor or nurse is available to take over he should.

As a mental health professional, Dr Curry should have been more empathetic to this man. Yes, he did and said horrible things, but you have to have a thick skin in medicine especially within mental health. Most incels are not inherently bad, they're just very lonely people who have swallowed a bullshit idiology and lash out at a world they think hates them. They're kind of like gang members or cult followers. They need treatment above anything else. Any decent doctor should have reccognised this.

I liked her logic and straightforwardness until it went way to far. Manipulating and lying to the patient to get them to do what you want after they've decided not to isn't acceptable. You can explain it, even in very clear terms, that their actions could have bad consequences. But you have to respect their wishes. She doesn't, repeatedly.
