That contraption with the line going from the power steering pump to the throttle linkage is a power steering idle step up system. When you turn the wheel at idle especially lock to lock it is supposed to speed the idle up to compensate for the load from the power steering system.

What a sweet running 260! She will be a great car when it's all done. Like I said before, it's awesome to see you and your Dad working together! I have a 66 Barracuda formula S, 4 speed with a 273 that I tinker with in my spare time. I'm 75 now and still work on it! I have had a health problem I would like to tell you about sometime. I once spent a week working on rear drums one day.About 7 hours to change 1 wheel cylinder and both sets of shoes.Getting the drums off was nearly impossible as the shoes were 15 year old originals and wore into the drums.Star adjusters were both rusted, and getting that 1 line off the cylinder without twisting it...Nobody will Ever use a wrench on it again./Glad your's is going, and man does it sound good.

Great video! Biggest frustration we have is new parts almost never fit like original, or are just plain wrong. We spend more time goofing around with brand new parts from the parts store trying to make them work and sometimes they do, but just as often, have to go back to the store and try again. Not sure what's going on, but quality isn't what it was.

Regarding that small cylinder on the carb linkage you were wondering about; as you mentioned, it taps off the power steering pump. The purpose is to keep the engine from stalling due to power steering pump load when the steering wheel is turned hard either direction. When the pump load increases the plunger extends, upping the idle a little bit.

My great grandma had one of those cars, back in the '70's. It got passed down to my aunt, when she went in to the nursing home. Eventually, it developed a crack in the exhaust manifold (we could not find one in a 100 mile radius). It was soon retired, and parked in the barn and forgotten. I think my uncle eventually sold it to the junkyard.

Bro David, try getting a factory ECM working with a bad wiring harness. Everything was replaced, sensors, computer, components, gaskets, fuel logs (aka the rack). I've literally bought three computers, five or six MAF's, TPS's, CTS's, blocked the egr off, and worked for three years to make it run right. But the wiring is the only thing I haven't replaced.

My dad had rotator surgery a few years back. His was pretty bad. Surgeon said my dad had arthritis, and bursitis. took almost 10 months for him to fully recover. Tell your mom to work hard and don't give up on physical therapy even if you have to do it yourself. Its a long road to recovery but if she sticks with it she will get back to 100%. I have seen others have the same surgery and give up on physical therapy after only 30 days or so. Unfortunately All of those people have limited use of their arm.

Talk about bolts that just can't get out? I worked on a 2008 Kia Sportage, put a clutch in it, well it took me a month to get one bolt out, but still didn't get it out, because the only tool I could get on it was the open end of a wrench, and maybe a half turn, and it kept slipping. I ended up buying a 2 foot long drill bit, and drilled the end out the bolt off, and is currently used as a bell housing stud..
