I find that sensor and crop or no crop conversation to be quite exhausting. In my 11 years of shooting videos I have yet to come across a client that sees the difference between my full frame shots and APS-C.
Definitely don’t do this just for the client, I do it for myself, especially helpful when filming tight locations, generally a client won’t care how you do, as long as you are able to do what they need. This focal reducer is just another tool to help with any roadblocks or tight spaces for example, a wider field of view.
Absolutely thanks for this video. I would love this adapter for the Sony A74 when it goes into Super 35mm crop mode in 60fps 4K. And I also have Nikon F Mount lenses
Interestingly as long as you don't need the (ridiculous IMHO) high base ISO of the FX3, the FX30 image is actually somewhat superior to the FX3 because it is a down-sampled 6K!
Lens compression is a myth and so is the full frame look. The only difference between fullframe and aps-c (super35) is where you stand. If you use some math to get an equivalent lens to the fullframe and open the aperture by 1stop for shallower dof, your image will look like the fullframe image. Only advantage of fullframe for me is it's better in daylight (larger photosite wells) and it's easier to achieve a shallower depth of field due to not having to use wider lenses for the same FOV
well, like I say in the video, the full frame FOV is what I was after, using more tighter focal lengths without having to move the camera back. I would say, having an easier and therefore more accessible shallow depth of field, is a full frame look, despite being able to achieve similar results from a super 35, Thanks for your comment.
Sometimes you can't stand close or far enough. For example 2/3" (B4) is great for tracking objects that are far and move fast. Then sometimes the lens you want is only available in a certain format.
lol great video and info, nice b roll too..but can you cut down on the film grain, it was very distracting but great great content, I know you’re trying to go for that cinema look

Bro you went crazy with the film grain 🤣. Dope video tho man didn't realize they made social reducers for apsc thought they only existed for mft
haha I know I did, I use these videos as a testing ground. Thanks for your comment

Yeah! I believe Fx30 crops in Higher Modes to a this adapter would be helpful for that.

absolutely well said, it is a really good oversampled image. I would love the 12,800 dual base iso though haha

Well, I definitely like pushing that grain as far as I can haha, thanks for your comment!
super interesting, but I can't live without autofocus 😅
Totally understand that, thanks!
You can get the canon viltrox speed booster it have the af function.
