I have a similar noise coming out of the driveshaft/differential area in my 07 tahoe awd. It gets worse as I accelerate. Just a couple days ago it leaked out a green fluid (not coolant) and then the differential itself started leaking a black sludge. Any help/suggestions?
Thank you for your video. Would you be able to guide me with this issue I'm having. I have a 05 chevy tahoe, 3.42 gears. GU6,G80. lately when I turn in either direction at a slow speeds, my rear wheels start to lock up and drag as if I was braking but I'm not. I am also starting to hear a growl when coming to slow stop. Any idea on what can be causing this issue and how to remedy. It's my daily driver and need it back on the road. I am also running 37" tires. Your input or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you
@@marialaguna2033 yes!! One of the retaining clips that hold a set of clutches inside the case some how came loose. This in turn lead to a spider gear inside the gear case vibrate and cause binding as I made turns. Eventually the spider gear started to brake some of its teeth. In the end the gear case basically cracked in half. When I pulled out the gear case out of the axle housing it broke off in two pieces. All the gears and clutches fell out. Luckily the pinion gear nor the ring gear suffered any damage and I was able to reused them. I got a pretty good used gear from someone in the Facebook market place. All I had to do was transfer my ring gear to the new case and change out the bearings on each side of the case for new ones. I pop in the new case a d haven't had any issues since. I watched a lot of TH-cam videos on how to do this. I did it in my backyard over the course of 3 days. Is definitely doable by one person. Good luck hope you can solve your issue
@@OSCARANDRES039 this is a very interesting story, I have 2012 silverado that has a gov lock(g80). And it's starting to get stuck locked, and drag the tires around while turning. The point is maybe I should go ahead and fix mine before it causes more damage like urs did probably. One quick question. Did you just put the new diff carrier in with the same shims? I've installed 1 posi Trac like that and checking backlash defore and after and it worked.
@@davidcraft4909 yes I reused the same shims because I fear I would throw off the back lash etc. If I used new ones. I did replace the races ans the case bearings with new ones. I was lucky that the pinion gear and ring did not sustained any damage and I was able to reused those as well with the new case.
Hey P.E.G Ok '08 Tahoe m locker comes w/the holes in the diff for the pins. What was the first year gm came out w/ the hoes for the pins? Maniacal s10. Thanks!

Axle housing is in the way in the vehicle trying to get at those holes to punch them. Cant get a swing on them with a hammer even with a bent nail in there because some mounts and stuff on the axle are in the way (04 avalanche). Stupid design.

My 01 Silverado with the same rear end did this. It was a bad left rear caliper. I removed it entirely and capped the line. Problem solved.

What was the reason for replacing the gears? Or what was the symptoms that you were experiencing noise or clunking? Ty
yes, it was making a loud whining sound, and after a while the vehicle stopped moving
there was also a loud banging noise coming from the rear of the car where the gears are located
