That exact dropshot hook and lure combo is one my Halibut go to rigs. The tide looked really high that day. Props for lipping that sculpin. Surprised the sculpins hit that huge bait. The big ones are easy to handle small ones are the little devils that will get you.
I was out there on the bay the same day just before the storm crept in. The bay was going off that day! I was on that legal winter hali near Coronado! Awesome video as always. Tight Lines! -MsYakFisher
Hey man love the videos, I’m heading home to sd for the winter and can’t wait to get casting in the bays! When can we get another colab video with you and Rodney? Also what’s your outro song? Thanks!!!
Love the video Afran! Correct me if I’m wrong but I thought I read an article saying that when their jaws turn orange they are about to spawn and it determines wether it’s a male or female. I’d have to find that article again and send you the link. Besides that keep slaying them fish!!
Their head area definitely turns color during the spawn. I don't think they are spawning right now. Also, when they are around a certain food they change colors.
WARBAITS FISHING that’s what I was thinking too I was like it’s way too early for them to spawn and that’s good to know for future sessions on the water thanks!
how big is the hook on that 2 oz lead head? I just bought some from y'all and it comes with an 8/0 hook. didn't think I could put a 5.5 in swimbait on it
The 2oz has a 8/0 hook. It fits baits from 5" and up. I prefer the fish the 2oz with a 5"-6" bait. Any larger of a swimbait, 6"-10", I'll fish the Long Shank 1oz.
Pretty tight. I turn the star drag til it stops. It's a tug of war with the fish, extraction from the structure. You'll see me loosen the drag on a bigger fish or a halibut once the fish is away from the structure (in case it makes a run).
Hey Afran, do you get more profit if I order directly through your website verse ordering through tackle warehouse? I have watched all of your videos and bought a great setup based off of your suggestion and have had great results on my first day fishing San Diego bay using the rod and reel and warbaits hardware. I just want you to get the most money for your product.

Tide was way to high, it was moving fast! The big bay is biting good!

Every worked any of the quiet water in the Marinas for halibut?
Yes there are some nice halibut spots in the bay. Ledges and eel grass are key spots
ahhh yeaaahhhh another banger yeeeaaaahhhhh!!!!!!
have you ever considerd using an anchor?
Anchor works great. I like to move around a lot, so I prefer the peddle drive system.

But there is a bunch of different reasons why the fish change color
Their head area definitely turns color during the spawn. I don't think they are spawning right now. Also, when they are around a certain food they change colors.

Have you ever fished in Long Beach? And if so what’s your opinion on it
I like the break wall. Really fun fishing. It’s a big playing field. Have to spend lot of time in different areas.
WARBAITS FISHING Have you tried the oil rigs ?
Yes. The Oil Rigs have good fishing. Have you fished them?
What kind of fish finder do you use for your kayack?
I use a Lowrance Hook 5. It's very user friendly with easy to use buttons. Great picture as well

I fish San Diego bay a lot but never past the bait barge. I think next time I’ll go out to that jetty.
Give it a go, but look at the tide first
How tight do you have your drag set up ?
Pretty tight. I turn the star drag til it stops. It's a tug of war with the fish, extraction from the structure. You'll see me loosen the drag on a bigger fish or a halibut once the fish is away from the structure (in case it makes a run).
WARBAITS FISHING thanks man
WARBAITS FISHING do you ever think a subscriber can go fishing with you?
What rods did you use for the swimbait and the drop shot Afran?
Hi Seth, that was the Ritual Angling 7'5" H
Where's this exact launching spot? Thanks, I'm trying to launch off here.

Warbaits drop shot weight?
You can run the 2oz Warbaits at the bottom of the drop shot. I'll do that next video, I picked up perfect plastics for that technique
