Great topic to get a hot debate started 😂. HGVC, while a great and affordable product, is lower on our list because it doesn’t fit our needs well. I'm getting rid of my Bluegreen, since the acquisition of Hilton, they have jacked up my MF's tremendously this year and locked us out of our account so buh bye to them. I may just pick up a biennial Marriott legacy week, but for right now I'll see if I really need it or not. I can just rent from someone on TUG if I want something and not have to deal with it at all. I pretty much agree with you - HGVC has pretty fancy locations if you can get to them and they treat resale owners great. Wyndham has a surprising number of locations and also treat resale pretty well - you just avoid their sales pitches. MVC would be interesting to me for locations, but their MFs just seem like too much to me. I plan to try and use II to trade into them in shoulder weeks instead, using more inexpensive II members that trade well. Worldmark is kind of on the list for me, but I think they're still more MFs to trade values and like you said, I'm east coast so getting a deeded week at a Capital or Vacation Village property that trades well in II makes more sense. So I could likely stay in a Marriott for $950 MFs plus $250 exchange vs $1,900+ MFs. Though I do understand Marriott does have the buy a lockoff so you get 2 trades for one MF, I haven't fully looked into that, so it could make up for it - except I'm really only interested in 2BR or bigger units so that ... complicates things.
Marriott lockoffs can be a decent value, the only drawback is the additional fees for trading, but you should be able to get 2BR units for about $1000+II exchange Fees. The Marriott priority in II is another big benefit. Thanks for watching James!

Welcome. I really need to create a video with information on how to buy a timeshare. I touch on it a lot of videos, but no one video really dedicated to it. The best place to start is, as suggested earlier, check out the TUGBBS forums. (tugbbs.com/forums/). Then check out the different timeshare brand forums like Marriott or HGVC and others. There is a lot of information to read and you can ask questions of other owners. Also check out the New to Timesharing Start Here! forum. They have a list of questions to answer that you can post in the forum and people can provide feedback. You'll find the questions in the "What to Buy" post that is in the sticky section of that same forum; tugbbs.com/forums/forums/new-to-timesharing-start-here.17/ You can also join TUG. There is a link in all the video descriptions where you can read reviews of different resorts. Timesharing is great, if done right and you buy the right product for your needs. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Thanks for your video. One thing I don't understand: You often point above your left shoulder and say: "xxxx right up here". I don't see anything up there !!! I see items below the video when I click on "More". What am I doing incorrectly ????????
TH-cam calls these cards. I believe these show up when watching on desktop and on mobile. It's a small white circle with an I in it and it expands to show text when mentioned. If you watch TH-cam in a web browser on mobile then they won't show up. They should show up in the mobile app. TH-cam has changed the behavior of these over the years and recently also started adding the links below the video when clicking More.
How about IHG time shares? We just sat through a 2 hour presentation here in Myrtle Beach. We declined, but were offered a free 7 day trip to a resort for a refundable $1,400. No commitment, but we will have to sit in another sales pitch. Thanks for your clarification! Semper Fi!
I think IHG would be Holiday Inn Club Vacations. IHG is the hotel company that owns Holiday Inn. Though the timeshare entity is a different company. Sometimes those return trip deals are okay. I would be careful with refundable though. They generally aren't refundable,. If you purchase timeshare when you go back on that trip and to the presentation, they discount the purchase price by the $1400.
@@DestinationTimeshare thank you very much you are correct. It is Holiday Inn club vacations.. Thanks again for the advice we are looking forward to learning from you on your website and donating. Thank you. !
I don't have a lot of inofmration about Holiday Inn Club Vacations on the channel and don't know a lot about that system. Though, in my opinion, there are better timeshare systems out there. I suggest taking a look at the TUGBBS. There are owner forums for many of the timeshare systems. tugbbs.com/forums/
Love watching your videos thanks. Own Marriott and Vistana both retail and resale and no points. We love what we own and always knew it was only an investment In vacationing. Because of this video if we were to buy more I would look at Hilton.

Wyndham Access for us. Works well. Plenty of US locations and a bunch in Hawaii. We bought resale and hold over 370k points at pennies to the retail dollar. I do agree that Hilton can also work well with it's large footprint. Vistana mandatory is a good thing. The biggest PROBLEM is high yearly maintenance fee's which can still make a re-sale purchase bogus even if you received it for free!
We average 385k Wyndham points per year, which is more than we expected or currently need. I don't even pay a penny for 1/3 of my points, surprise class action conversion from the prior owner. Nice problem to have, allows us to partially use Wyndham as a hotel EOY with all the housekeeping tokens and use whatever room upgrades we want.
I’m not sure if Hilton Grand Vacation Club or Diamond has any resorts in the mountains. I know Diamond, now Hilton VacationC Club has one in Palm Desert.
@@DestinationTimeshare I understand Bluegreen only has one in CA, Big Bear mountain. HGV merger might change this as Orange County, CA would be very attractive to future timeshare owners.
I agree with your assessment with abound. Marriott points are not working as advertised when trying to get reservations at high demand resorts. For the last 3 weeks I have been trying to get Aruba surf club booking 13 months out and the availability is gone less than 30 seconds after it opens at 9:00 am eastern on Tuesdays. Can I get into overbuilt places like Vegas, Orlando or Williamsburg...sure I can but I can get into those areas thru II or RCI for a fraction of the maint fee. Frankly the marriott points system is broken, the only fix in my mind is for marriott to buy all those resale weeks and not resell them to open up inventory to points owners
If you aren't checking online at midnight eastern time on the release date for new inventory, you really should try that too. In many cases they release it online at midnight even though they say it is available at 9am.
I have tried the midnight time and nothing available. In fact you can't even search the most recent dates available for that inventory release until exactly 9:00 am. If you are getting inventory release at midnight is that for points or weeks reservation? My experience is with using points 13 months out for a 7 days or more reservation.
Aruba and most of the non US properties are deeded owners and not owned by the trust. That means an owner has to elect for club points in order for it to become available.
Agree that weeks owners not trading their weeks for points is the major reason for lack of availability. Also think the automatic enrollment of Sheraton and westin owners onto abound dis not help either, since they did not have access to resorts in aruba other than thru II. It is not just overseas properties. Most of the older resorts in prime locations have alot of weeks owners....many of which are not enrolled to even trade in their week for points.
Great videos and information! Could you recommend a week resale company and location for a 3-4 bedroom lockout? I would always trade with II to go to my home resort, Westgate, to extend my vacation.
If you are always going to be using it to go to your home resort, you could just buy a week at your home resort. Though certain Westgate deeds have heavy restrictions on resale, like only being able to book 30 or 60 days prior to checkin. Older deeds, say prior to 2009 don't have this restriction. So you have to be very careful with that route. As for exchanging through II, I have heard that WIlliamsburg Plantation (Vacation Village at Williamsburg) is a good option. They have 4-bedroom units that lock off into two 2-bedroom units. I don't know what the annual fees are, but someone mentioned it in a prior video. Look for the comment by FoxFamTV; th-cam.com/video/n0bxQLjXn9I/w-d-xo.html As a Westgate owner, are you able to book II Getaways into Westgate properties? Do they restrict you from exchanging through II into other Westgate resorts with your Westgate ownership? Where exactly do you own?
@DestinationTimeshare I own weeks 7&8 @ Westgate Vacation Villas and looking to stay early Jan-mid March so looking for something that I can stretch the time out and thought a lock off would be a good idea. I've heard that Westgate imposes a 60 day deposit to check in window(I don't know if I said that right)and $700 per exchange fee. I belong to II but can't see Westgate Vacation Villa getaways. I've also thought about Marriot Grande Vista 3 bedroom lock offs.
Grande Vista is a good trader, but Westgate has a regional block in Orlando. So you can't use another Orlando timeshare to trade into Westgate properties in Orlando. I wouldn't buy a Marriott week to trade into Westgate. Though buying Marriott to trade into Marriott is a fantastic value. We don't see any Westgate resorts in Orlando when searching for exchanges with our Grande Vista or Harbour Lake weeks. I have heard about the $700 fee to resale owners for for internal Westgate exchanges. Are you saying that resale owners can only deposit into II their Westgate reservation if they bought it resale? We were able to book an II getaway for May/June into Westgate Vacation Villas and Westgate Lakes. I would suspect spring break time is harder to book with Getaways. The only Westgate we don't see that often with Getaways is Westgate Palace.
@DestinationTimeshare I don't have any personal experience with trading a lock off with Westgate but I have a friend who trades her 4 bedroom Town Center into the Villas with II to save fees. Thanks for your advice. Spot on.
Another Westgate resale owner rip off is they have less hours available at the Shipwreck water park. They have a sign stating the different owner levels and entry times. My niece went in as soon as she was allowed and all the sundeck lawn chairs were all ready taken.
Own Vistana “fixed” week for 40 years. Marriott will not leave me alone!!!!! Want to sell us “points” and have suggested i am about to receive a 15,000 “assessment”!!!!! How do i confirm this assessment AND How do i get out of a fixed Vistana week?????”
Did the salesperson tell you about this so called $15,000 assessment? Where do you own the fixed week? Is it at Vistana Resort in Orlando? Vistana doesn't have many fixed weeks. If you want out, Vistana does have a deed back program. You can email them and ask if they will take the week back. No cost to you; www.marriottvacationclubs.com/s/exit
I've watched a a few of your videos and this other guy and I'm stuck between purchasing Worldmark and Hilton. I do live in Las Vegas, NV. Just moved back after living in VA for 12 years. Wife and I were Discovery owners with Club Wyndham and it was sooo worth it except for the sales presentations! No joke they are all a bunch of lying thieves desperate for a commission. The mouth we paid for the 2 year program would have been around double to even triple the cost on the outside. We mainly want to do most of our travels on the west coast and Hawaii so both will be good. We honestly don't like booking 9 months out, but more like 6. Also with RCI I would think that Worldmark would give better trade in points since Wyndham owns/ manages RCI, or it doesn't matter?
Hello. Hilton is much stronger for Hawaii, but outside Las Vegas they are a little weak on the west coast. I know that Worldmark has a lot of west coast locations. I can't speak that much for the Wyndham properties out west. I just know they don't have great locations in Hawaii. You can buy Worldmark point very cheap on the resale market. Literally pennies on the dollar. HGVC is more expensive resale but Club Wyndham is cheap like Worldmark. Unfortunately your booking timelines will hurt you when looking for more prime reservations and resorts.
Really great video. The scoring is weighted mostly from a financial standpoint. If amenities and quality are factored in then I wonder what changes? I would think Marriott would move way up and timeshares like Worldmark would move down quite a bit. Just my point of view, but I like the video! Thanks for creating and sharing!
I don't really know a lot about them. I believe that Tafer is a Mexican timeshare company and I know that Capital Vacations buys into smaller independent properties. For those reasons I would not be likely to buy timeshares with either of them myself.
I really don't know anything about timeshares but I was just looking at your channel. And then I received a shirt and vacations preferred invitation to a 5-day four night stay in a personal one bedroom villa at Sheraton vistana villages. It says the package is mine from $249. Is this a scam? Is that price the amount for the whole stay? Do they murder you when you get there? Lol.
LOL, it's almost like they were tracking you. You probably received this due to membership in the Marriott Bonvoy program. These stays can be a good deal. You need to verify though if they require attendance at a timeshare presentation. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, but they will pressure you to buy a timeshare from them. If you are good at saying no, then these can be a great way to save money on a short vacation.
I just left the exact one you are speaking of and yes it’s real. They are going to pay you $275 to attend the presentation but it’s not mandatory. Me and my kids enjoyed the stay and I signed up for the timeshare.
We haven't visited that resort, but have stayed at the Marriott Grande Ocean next door. I am sure it is a nice property, but there are much cheaper ways to get into the HGVC system through resale. I suggest cancelling/rescinding your contract and do more research about what may work best. You can buy resale for less than a quarter of the prices you paid. Here is a video about timeshare rescission. th-cam.com/video/gLXRIWGa7BY/w-d-xo.html
@@DestinationTimeshare It's a beautiful place next to the beach, I love Hilton Head but I don't think it's worth the price, I chose the lowest package (silver), it said HGVC member with HGV Max Benefits (?), thank you so much for your channel, love your contents and helpful information, I will mail the rescission letter tomorrow, and looking around the resale.
Me and my wife bought hilton grand vacation. Just 5,500 pts every other year and now im worried cuz i dont think it’s worth it. I cant request days off from work 9 months in advance cuz we do bidding. Work/vacation flexibility is im worried about. :-(
Have you found any stays short term? Prime locations during prime season may be hard, but people do cancel. I feel Hilton may be selling more and more to websites for non owerers in recent years due tools retail sales cause they need to keep rooms filled. IDK that's just my theory.
There are many sources for resale timeshares; Redweek, Ebay, TUG Marketplace or a broker. You can check out sellingtimeshares.net, Hilton Timeshare Resale Specialists.
I was on fidelity timeshare shares and lots of them. I heard the Hilton released lots or resale to Fidelity and Redweek. Why? Very low retail sales and while they are not making the big income from sales. All of the big timeshare companies need resale because of MF. That's what keeps properties updated and keeps people employed. HGVC in Vegas has low MF even if rarely book in Vegas, I live here, you have 9 months out to book at other locations. You just have 12 months to book at your home resort. A lot of good deals out there. Obviously with the timeshare brokers you'll pay a little more, but still saving 10s of thousands on resale. You just don't get certain perks as retail. While they are descent to good. Most people don't find paying resale worth it. I was on a 2 year Discovery with Club Wyndham access and for what I paid. Renting similar suites would have been triple the cost! Only negative is like this guy said is sales is ruthless! But most properties are really nice and Wyndhama has more properties than anyone which is why sales is more aggressive...
Thanks for the information. It looks like MVC also sent out some official communication about this property being available to reserve now. They also have points charts online. It looks to be quite a bit more expensive than Ko'Olina on the same island. Unfortunately, as much as we would like to go, we probably won't be able to make it there. Unless MVC would like to comp me a free stay to showcase the resort, LOL. No chance of that! Thanks for watching!
I know many people buy them on the resale market as a trader in RCI or Interval International. I wouldn't purchase one direct from the developer. Thanks for watching!
Ebay can be great. We've bought multiple timeshares on Ebay. Just make sure you do your due diligence to make sure what you are buying is really what you want to buy. Ask for an estoppel before bidding. Some sellers will send this to you ahead of time. The estoppel will show you the details of the week and unit. The estoppel is provided by the timeshare management company. Thanks for watching!
Is there something wrong with that? People devote time to a lot of different things. Some people like to watch hours of television. Some spend time and money to go to concerts. Other people spend time on any of the hundreds of other hobbies that are out there. I've been told, don't judge people on how they spend their time or money. You may think it is a waste of time, but I am sure there are things you do that many others would think are a waste of time also.
I just bought MVC in Bali the 4000 point for arround 68k usd with the payment 10% in front and installment for 60 months with 0% interest rate The dues fee and maintenance fee are arround 1900usd annually They gave us 8000 bonus poin and 482k bonvoy poin also 200usd gift voucher that can be use in any marriot chain hotels
I highly suggest that you take a look at all the Marriott Vacation Club videos on the channel. You may want to consider cancelling your purchase. Not sure how they provided both 8000 bonus points AND 482K Bonvoy. Usually it is one or the other. YOu might want to double check that. I agree, it feels like someone is getting scammed when I can vacation for less than $500 for a week long stay in a two bedroom unit at a fabulous resort in a fantastic vacation destination.
You certainly didn't understand the point of the video. This was based on usability, not sales. Timeshare is still a great vacation product with fabulous resorts. I also believe it is still extremely affordable way to travel. If you don't buy direct. As for #2, buying Club Wyndham on resale is a great value as you can get them for nearly free and the maintenance fees are still reasonable.
@@DestinationTimeshare no they are not. the maintenance fees increase every single year, special assessments are a thing and it's so difficult to get out of these money traps that many people end up just walking away from them. Some people can't even GIVE away their timeshare, that's how bad they are.
Have you seen what hotel and resort nightly rates have been doing. The argument that maintenance fees go up is moot. So does the cost of everything else. Every single year the cost of stuff just goes up. I agree that people give them away. Mainly because they had no business buying what they did and they don't understand how to use the product. Those ones being given away can be good ones to get because you don't have to pay the big upfront cost. We picked up a timeshare for free last year and are very happy with it.
@@DestinationTimeshare no, i'm not a fool. there's a reason that only a small percentage of them even sell for $1 on the secondary market. There is a lot of information to read and you can ask questions of other owners. Also check out the New to Timesharing Start Here! forum. They have a list of questions to answer that you can post in the forum and people can provide feedback. You'll find the questions in the "What to Buy" post that is in the sticky section of that same forum; tugbbs.com/forums/forums/new-to-timesharing-start-here.17/
You can also join TUG. There is a link in all the video descriptions where you can read reviews of different resorts.
Timesharing is great, if done right and you buy the right product for your needs. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Your going to get Scamed, high pressure sales is usually always a scam! To good to be true.
Thanks for your video.
One thing I don't understand:
You often point above your left shoulder and say: "xxxx right up here".
Wyndham is now part of Travel and Leisure which has some awesome benefits!
I will be going to Harborside Atlantis on 5/25 with a party of 6. Any recommendations for an airport pickup. Thanks! John
I've seen a lot of people mention this sandrastransportationbahamas.com/
I need to look into this also as we will be there at the beginning of May.
Great video! Out of curiosity, can you still use interval if you buy a timeshare on the resale market? Thanks!
Yes. You just have to pay the annual membership fees and exchange fees apply.
@@DestinationTimeshareokay wonderful! Thank you for confirming and your guidance 🎉
Thanks for watching. There are certainly advantages in owning with multiple systems. We may consider HGVC in the future.
Love the videos man! where is the coupon for you course?? i can't find it!
Thanks for watching and showing interest in MVC Made Easy. Take a look at this video. There is a link in the description and pinned comment to a related digital download. You can find the coupon within the files contained in the digital download.

People, do not become a lifetime financial slave to the timeshare or vacation ownership industry.
Very true. The real cost of ownership is in the ongoing annual maintenance fees. Thanks for watching!
Disney Vacation Club but did look at Wyndham, Hyatt, and Marriott. I do like Marriott but not sure if I would us it because I have Disney.
Why does Bluegreen only have one property in the mountains of So Cal? Should have 10 in Orange County. Will this change when Hilton merges?
I’m not sure if Hilton Grand Vacation Club or Diamond has any resorts in the mountains. I know Diamond, now Hilton VacationC Club has one in Palm Desert.
@@DestinationTimeshare I understand Bluegreen only has one in CA, Big Bear mountain. HGV merger might change this as Orange County, CA would be very attractive to future timeshare owners.
where do you buy your resales?
Ebay, TUG and Redweek are good options. Though there are also brokers out there that can help with the higher end stuff.
What do you think about Circle by melia we have this and we love it very mutch.
I don't know much about it, but it looks to be more like a travel club vs a timeshare system.
Look for the comment by FoxFamTV; th-cam.com/video/n0bxQLjXn9I/w-d-xo.html
As a Westgate owner, are you able to book II Getaways into Westgate properties?
How do i confirm this assessment AND
How do i get out of a fixed Vistana week?????”
Do you have an opinion about Capital Vacations Club or Tafer Resorts?
@@DestinationTimeshare okay great. Thanks for the information.
I just left the exact one you are speaking of and yes it’s real. They are going to pay you $275 to attend the presentation but it’s not mandatory. Me and my kids enjoyed the stay and I signed up for the timeshare.
What do you think about HGVC Hilton Head sc? Just back from there and signed some documents but now kinda have buyer remorse
We bought the same deal. Did you keep it or cancel?
Have you found any stays short term? Prime locations during prime season may be hard, but people do cancel. I feel Hilton may be selling more and more to websites for non owerers in recent years due tools retail sales cause they need to keep rooms filled. IDK that's just my theory.
Can I know the agreements that an owner has to enter when purchasing timeshares?
Dont!!!!!
How do you get a timeshare resale from Hilton?
Thanks for another great video Jeremy. I also just saw availability post for MVC Waikiki beginning in October. Would love to see you review that one.
Anyone have feedback on a Massanutten Resort Timeshare
I know many people buy them on the resale market as a trader in RCI or Interval International. I wouldn't purchase one direct from the developer. Thanks for watching!
I do not under the concept of it. Who the f created it?
What are your thoughts buying a timeshare resale on eBay?
Ebay can be great. We've bought multiple timeshares on Ebay. Just make sure you do your due diligence to make sure what you are buying is really what you want to buy. Ask for an estoppel before bidding. Some sellers will send this to you ahead of time. The estoppel will show you the details of the week and unit. The estoppel is provided by the timeshare management company. Thanks for watching!
Agree 100%
i love my timeshare
Which one do you have?
Jeez it’s like this guy devotes his life to understanding timeshares. Idk.
Thanks!
I just bought MVC in Bali the 4000 point for arround 68k usd with the payment 10% in front and installment for 60 months with 0% interest rate
The dues fee and maintenance fee are arround 1900usd annually
They gave us 8000 bonus poin and 482k bonvoy poin also 200usd gift voucher that can be use in any marriot chain hotels
I highly suggest that you take a look at all the Marriott Vacation Club videos on the channel. You may want to consider cancelling your purchase. Not sure how they provided both 8000 bonus points AND 482K Bonvoy. Usually it is one or the other. YOu might want to double check that.

Not into Disney stuff, have zero interest in "Resort Hotels" and Vegas is a shit show. No way I would ever get suckered into a timeshare.
Straight up scam
I agree, it feels like someone is getting scammed when I can vacation for less than $500 for a week long stay in a two bedroom unit at a fabulous resort in a fantastic vacation destination.
your #2 "best" one was from a company you acknowledged used deceptive sales tactics. And that's #2????? What a garbage industry.
It seems you learned everything you know about timeshare by watching a single John Oliver video LOL
@@DestinationTimeshare yeah? what am i wrong about?
😂
The best? The one you didn't buy. All timeshares everywhere are a scam.
Do you own or have you ever owned a timeshare?
@@DestinationTimeshare no, i'm not a fool. there's a reason that only a small percentage of them even sell for $1 on the secondary market. They're less than worthless - a timeshare is an albatross around your neck for the rest of your life and many of them have perpetuity clauses (which are ridiculous) and if your heirs aren't careful, then they're stuck with these worthless dumps for the rest of their lives too.
If this "industry" had any decency, then every single one of these operators would have a buyback program. There's a reason they don't.
Since you don't own, you don't have any real experience with the product or how it works. Your only experience with timeshare listening to the negative side of the product. You haven't experienced it and what it has to offer. It is still the best deal in travel. Just don't buy from the developer. Many timeshare developers do have deed back programs.
This guy is a HACK - stay away from all timeshares
