I have been filling nitrogen in all my vehicles from the last 10 years plus I guess and the basic advantage what I feel I s d tyre pressure remains constant for a long time .. Plus I make sure to always fill it from d same pump.
I had a 6-7 year old apache 160 rtr and had to drive totally 60 km daily for around 2 years to reach my workplace. I filled my tyres fully on nitrogen for few weeks and others I rode on normal air. (Nitrogen costs Rs 10 per tyre or 5 for just top up). Although, doubtful myself in the beginning I found marked difference in how Nitrogen filled tyres soak up bumps. They make a huge difference when you are riding for long distance on uneven roads. Big potholes are generally taken care by your suspension but minor bumps, small potholes etc are definitely less noticeable on nitro tyres. Again the difference might not be perceived by most people on short distances or if they expect even the big potholes to go unnoticed. ... but because, I did this testing for 2 years repeatedly on the same stretch of pothole filled uneven typical Indian roads week after week for such long distances, I can assure they do have an improvement of lets say 15-20% on handling. The rides are much smoother, the bike doesn't bounce sharply on rocks or bumps etc.
I live in Bangalore and I use Nitrogen for my car. We spend about 50-100 rupees for 4 tyres (prices vary in filling centres) and honestly that works out to be a lot cheaper for me because most Bangaloreans tip the attendant 5-10 rupees for normal Air filling each time. And I have noticed that since the pressure in tyres with nitrogen remain A LOT more consistent, I have noticed consistently decent fuel efficiency. One of the most prominent advantages for me would be that I don't have to wait in the air filling line once every 2 weeks like I would if I was running normal air. (and these lines have got me waiting for over 10 minutes in some situations) TIME IS MONEY So I'd choose Nitrogen for my daily driver without much fuss.
@@Ram-lu1wn now even most prominent fuel stations in Bangalore have a seperate nitrogen section where they offer free nitrogen. However, we usually tip the attendant 10-20 rupees
Well yea. If you are ignorant and don’t check for tire pressure and keep driving, the rubber will stick to the ground more and effectively reduce mileage if you’re planning to cruise. Similarly to get more grip during offroading, lesser air in the tires are preferred. So if you’re lazy, nitrogen helps😛

I would like to disagree on this.. The major advantage is when you go for long ride like 100 to 200 km, tyre filled with air would have eventually 2 to 3 points higher pressure as air expand more due to heat than Nitrogen does. This increase in tyre pressure results in a bumpy ride at the end... But if you ha e nitogen filled in tge tyre pressure doesnt change after a long run... This i am saying from my experience of last 5 to 6 years of using nitrogen...
Exactly, I have tested this and it is true. It is a simple test all can try and then judge themselves. Tyres filled with normal air get bumpy after riding in hot weather, whereas with Nitrogen it stays the same
Agree. Normal city riding conditions don't really warrant Nitrogen use. But say if you have to drive on cemented roads....case in point Yamuna Expressway, I guess Nitrogen is a better option? 2-3 Hrs of High speed driving is bound to cause considerable temperature variations.
Finally someone in sync with me when it comes to use of nitrogen in tyres.....this myth is so rampant that people are not ready to listen even if you give them logic that nitrogen is not needed in your car which you mostly drive in city traffic and NOT ON A RACE TRACK !! 😂
Really good video Shumi! While the logic is bulletproof, I appreciate you having mentioned that Nitrogen does have its benefits, all the same. Personally, I prefer to use Nitrogen for the following reasons: 1. Very less quantity of water vapour and Oxygen (the best friends of Oxidation). 2. Tyres feel more stable (and a bit heavier). This may also be a con to some. 3. No need to fill frequently, or worry about faster deflation after a long ride. 4. Quite inexpensive for Motorcycles actually. (25-30₹ for each tyre at any Nitrogen pump in Pune. 10₹ for refilling both tyres.). Considering that Petrol costs well over 100₹ a litre now, 30₹ for a span of 3-4 months doesn't seem that bad.
Sir in our state we have free nitrogen in every petrol pump......so would u recommend using nitrogen since its free......and also could u explain why people say once u fill it with nitrogen u can't use normal air
Only disadvantage with nitrogen is it's cost. So if it is free definately fill it up with Nitrogen. Also we can use normal air even if filed with Nitrogen. But it's better to avoid refill with air without completely deflating all tyres.
Yeah! Checking tyre pressures and keeping an eye on the valve condition is more imp than filling nitrogen. Keeping the valve clean is important. I recently had an instance where my tyres lost preasure in a day because some minute dirt grain had gotten in the valve and the valve couldn't close properly.
Thanks for confirming this. Just like everyone else even I used to fill nitrogen for a couple of years back in 2016/17. But the hassle of finding nitrogen enabled pump on long drives led me back to normal air. I just get it checked everytime I fillup gas ⛽️ and that’s about it. Simple and effective without any extra cost 😊
What if my tyres are filled with nitrogen and I didnt get nitrogen filling pump, can I refill normal air or do I need to evacuate the remaining nitrogen and then fill it completely with air?
So finally got clarity... since we see big posters to say that to use N2.. For family car, Air filling is enough. Since we are already RACING our family... Hope for long journey, N2 is better...
There's nothing wrong with Nitrogen, but the question remains do you REALLY need it. As long as the pressures are recommended, every road-going vehicle should be fine.
here are some personal experience with nitrogen *pros - tire pressure is on point most of the time - heats less in long trips - haven't experienced any punctures in 5 years (maybe as tire pressure is on point so things can't penetrate in it) *cons -while short rides from point A to B. as tire is mostly cold it offers less grip comparatively. please note i get a 300/- yearly membership at a service station and fill nitrogen after every 2 weeks so it does not cost much as filling air is 5/- for bike.

And in long running that moisture reacts with rim and forms oxidation and results in rust formation. I fill only Normal air in my vehicles coz can't spare extra amount for the air regularly 🙂
Inertness of nitrogen also gives an advantage to the tyres as it would not react with other chemical compounds that would've mixed with atmosphere (like industrial chemicals coming out of a chimney) that would've inadvertently entered into the tyres. Again, not a strong point to support nitrogen over air but just adding to the features of nitrogen.
Sorry Shumi I have massive respect for you but you have made ine slight error. It is a myth that tyre pressure changes are less with nitrogen as compared to air. Atmospheric air can contain a minimum of 0.01% to a maximum of 4.2% water vapour (at dew point) and even then, the thermodynamic property of this mixture is that of an ideal gas. Race vehicles use nitrogen because it is predictable and reproducible. For example, Michelin tyres for motogp when manufactured amd tested in France can be tested and designed for a race at Austin or Qatar because they will be filling the same gas in both places which won't be possible of they used air instead of nitrogen because water vapour content in France at the time of testing might be different than water vapour content in Qatar if they went ahead with atmospheric air. The reason for not using dry air is because oxygen is combustible and there are other pneumatic tools they use that run on pressurized nitrogen.

@Shumar Would filling tyres with Nitrogen in a humid coastal areas be of benefit as the atmospheric air is more moisture laden (especially during rainy season as the moisture level goes up)?
Shumi Bhai. Can you make a video on Xp95 Petrol (speed) and Normal Petrol? Whether we can fill xp95 petrol in 110 CC and will it perform well on 110cc scooter or bikes compared to Normal petrol.
In some parts of our country 🇮🇳 nitrogen is also same price as air (maybe 5 or 10rs that too if we volenteerely give them ) or else free only in most cases in south India, also for racing the usage of helium is recommended I most cases than nitrogen as helium is lighter nd makes the car go faster but the drawback on helium in tyres is it isn't as leakproof as nitrogen nd we want to check more frequently than normal air🏁
Hawa ya nitrogen ??? This is the most confusing question I get it from air fillers. Thank you for sorting it so easily. We dont need nitrogen for daily commute.
Shumi, Lucknow Expressway has free nitrogen pumps. When my car runs constantly at 140 kmph for 2 hours or so, does the heated air inside the tyres cause tyres to expand and hence lose grip? Does nitrogen help here?
So, if nitrogen is having less permiability under high pressure then after some consecutive re fill of type with air we actually automatically increasing the concentration of Nitrogen in tyres. # Money saved. XD

Here is what i have observed using nitrogen in car, the tyre temperature stayed a bit low during highway runs, however i felt the ride quality went for a toss. It felt so hard and switching back to normal air made the ride much better.
I have used Nitrogen in my tyres and fortunately most company operated pumps provide free nitrogen across the country. Please get updated. The benefits are not just permeation but also better tyre life than air with oxygen/water content.
Benifits I've seen after using Nitrogen for last 10yrs: 1) Literally no sticky moisture inside the car tyres & Butyl tubes of bike tyres. 2) Nitrogen pressure stays stable even after 500kms of city drive. On contrast Air would have dropped 4 to 5psi for the same distance. 3) Regular Air stinks since all the petrol bunks literally never clean or maintain their air filters & moisture traps of their compressors. Its a fit once forget it business since Air is free. 4) Tyres warmup gradually and stay softer during long distance drives. This could be a placebo feeling but either way, the drive is enjoyable at the end of 500kms, don't really mind spending 10bucks for a top-up/car tyre (5bucks for top-up/bike tyre). ✌🏽
i have a topic...does performance filter and free flow exhaust make more power and better average...in my case it has significantly improved and made my motorcycle better to ride...
People often say that nitrogen helps maintain temperature of heat in tyres during long rides. Is this true? As i know that heated air expands. I always use normal air in my tyres as i find its the best, cheap and widely available in every petrol pump or on the road side.
One point Schumi missed is the way Nitrogen reduces running temperatures. Normal air tends to increase tire temp comparatively than Nitrogen, this is reason most people overfill their tires and causes tire blasts in highways (which is an altogether different theory and open to debate) Nitrogen atoms being bigger tend to stay longer inside the tire and being inert gas doesn't absorb mositure from air which is plus for steel rims as it prevents bead seat rusting. So, if you can afford Nitrogen and you tour a lot, or park your vehicle for while without usage, strongly recommend N, if you can't, then stick to normal air and maintain correct pressure.
Hi Shumi, this is off the topic comment, but can we suggest manufactures of 2 and 4 wheelers to indicate how many liters of petrol is there in tank instead of just showing a fuel meter which gives you a vague idea. This will help the customers from being cheated at the petrol pumps.
Many times there have been accidents on the highway's because of tyres bursting , is this because of the air getting hot and expanding , if yes , wouldn't having only nitrogen help?
Well tyre burst happen due to underfilling of air or having less air in tyre or simply due to age of tyres or bald tyres not because of air getting hot and expanding exponentially.
Thank you Shumi for saving me 1 litre petrol's money 🙏. I was thinking of filling the nitrogen in my car due to suggestion by that guy at petrol pump😂😂😂
Literally used to tell this to guys with big bikes (and money). But hey, what do I know, I just have a 150cc Yamaha. And Nitrogen in tyres is essential for the peak performance required for the Sunday morning ride to Murthal. 😑
Goodness me. Seems like they do actually read the comments. I was one of maybe many guys who commented on the previous simplified video to make a video on this topic 😅
How often should I check my tire pressure? My bike's front tyre drops from 28psi to 20 psi in a week. I checked several time for valve leaks but they aren't there. Is it normal?
Free air sounds fillings from petrol stations. But a wise man who knows little about tires once said dont fill from stations rather go for puncture repairer who uses compressor pump where actual psi is pumped in.

0:14 gas and not the stuff that you get from rajma!😂😂
Shumi sir's sarcasm is on another level🔥😂😂
Shumi, Lucknow Expressway has free nitrogen pumps. When my car runs constantly at 140 kmph for 2 hours or so, does the heated air inside the tyres cause tyres to expand and hence lose grip? Does nitrogen help here?
Yes...!
What a way to start my Sunday with the fav series 😎
Similarly can you please explain if it is worth using Power/speed than the regular unleaded?

Every video of you. I like and share. Only because they are informative
Make a video on ethanol mix in the fuel
Thanks for such informative video👌🏻 #PDArmy
So, if nitrogen is having less permiability under high pressure then after some consecutive re fill of type with air we actually automatically increasing the concentration of Nitrogen in tyres. # Money saved. XD
Underrated comment.
@@aritrapatra5716 did I miss something? 😌 I was actually COMPLEMENTING YOU ffs!!!
@@Abhijith9080 yup, I thought u some one else. Thanks for your patience and replying. Sorry from my side. I thought it was a prank from one of my friends.
I literally thought nitrogen was used to keep the tyre cool 😂😂😂 thanks PD
Same here! That's a false information I had till now
I feel lucky to have come across this amazing channel and the kind of content that is posted regularly especially through Simplified where this amazing person breaks down concepts which as a bike rider I personally would not have known, had I not subscribed. Keep posting such useful videos to help making bike riding a smooth and easy to go for experience for everyone. ✌🏼✨
Thanks Brother... You have explained very well.
Thank you..please make a video on engine braking n rev matching
Gonna happen soon. Until then, do check this one out - th-cam.com/video/-NcV4sJurZ4/w-d-xo.html

Hey shumi u had broken the myths
Thanks for suggesting to fill the normal air in tyres
Great info thanks. I dunno if it’s in my head, but I feel that the road noise inside a four wheeler is reduced when running nitrogen. Could there be any truth in this?! Or am I just making peace with myself for the cost and effort of regularly using nitrogen😋
Hiiiiii PowerDrift......
Appreciate your efforts!!!!!
Thank you n love you powerdrift.
U guys are educating us like hell on things that ppl act to know coz it's so simple but we actually don't. Lol!!!
No professors or engineers will explain things so simple and smooth to ordinary common pple.
Thanks again
Here is what i have observed using nitrogen in car, the tyre temperature stayed a bit low during highway runs, however i felt the ride quality went for a toss. It felt so hard and switching back to normal air made the ride much better.
I have used Nitrogen in my tyres and fortunately most company operated pumps provide free nitrogen across the country. Please get updated. The benefits are not just permeation but also better tyre life than air with oxygen/water content.
There is also cooling effect inside the tyre ..the Nitrogen won't heat the tyre as much as air ..hence more life to tyre
@Powerdrift what would be your recommendation for touring on bike? Air for touring or nitrogen for touring?
Benifits I've seen after using Nitrogen for last 10yrs:
1) Literally no sticky moisture inside the car tyres & Butyl tubes of bike tyres.
Bagundi Shumi garu. Nice video
Thanks a ton for bursting the Myth.. 😎👍
Wow!! Great topic addressed.. This, sure, will save a lot of brainstorming for millions of people at fuel stations.. 😂
Even the tyre manufacturers dont recommend nitrogen gas over normal air.
I’ve been telling about this to people who just does the best for their cars. Now I can share this video
What about air expanding in tires in some amount in heated weather? They say nitrogen tends to decrease rather expand like air.
Every time nitrogen removes oxygen fill the gas again and again and the nitrogen will overpower to 95% 😂 😂
Very useful information 👍👍👍
These videos are so much informative. Kudos to PD!
Could we have a video explaining the difference between four wheel drive and all wheel drive along with things like transfer case and 4 low ?
Whats the best way to get rid of fog on the windshield when it's raining? Use AC or heater?
Ohhh I have been asking this question many years 😃
Thank you Shumi for saving me 1 litre petrol's money 🙏.
Of course we do!
this series is EPIC
How often should I check my tire pressure? My bike's front tyre drops from 28psi to 20 psi in a week. I checked several time for valve leaks but they aren't there. Is it normal?
Tube or tubeless?
Free air sounds fillings from petrol stations. But a wise man who knows little about tires once said dont fill from stations rather go for puncture repairer who uses compressor pump where actual psi is pumped in.
