  • This 1983 Mustang GT is a genuine 1-owner car, bought brand-new in Charles City, Iowa, just 16 miles from our current location of Greene, Iowa. These days, you don't see very many GT Mustangs (pre-1987 restyling) that aren't convertibles. What we've got here is a rare exception. This 1983 Mustang GT Hatchback is the real deal, a time capsule on wheels. This GT has plenty of life left in it, with exceptionally low milage and being presented with only 44,895 actual miles on the odometer. Even better, this fast Ford has all the '80s features that one could possibly want. T-tops, air conditioning, rear window louvers, and dual-sport mirrors are just a couple of the options that this Mustang presents to its next owner. Power is provided via a high-output (H.O.) 5.0L, 302 C.I. V8 with a 4-barrel carburetor. Torque from that V8 gets to the 9" rear axle through a 4-speed manual transmission that is sure to provide this GT's next owner with a hell of a good time. What really sticks out is the paint on this Mustang, presented with 27-code "Bright Red" paint that has stood the test of time very well. The paint is then accented by black decal stripes and graphics, with the "GT" logo on the hood being especially good-looking. The black accenting is made the main color of the interior, presented with black vinyl bucket seats and a factory center console for added convenience. Options on this GT include power steering, power disc brakes, air conditioning, T-Tops, rear window louvers, dual-sport mirrors, power windows, a factory AM/FM/Cassette stereo system to really rock those '80s tunes, a factory tachometer + gauges, and a factory-spec exhaust system. The car rides on some original-style 4-bolt steel wheels on top of some correct Michelin TRX tires for that true, authentic '80s look. When you're behind the wheel of this Mustang, you've only got one destination: 1983. There isn't much else out there with such authentic originality and such a storied history! This GT is just itching for the chance to drive beyond our area, and it's looking for a new driver. We think you'd look pretty good looking like you came straight from the set of "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" while behind the wheel of this highly original '83 Mustang GT.

    I drove one of these for thirty years
    Fuel pump failed and took out the bottom end in the eighteenth year
    Rebuilt it drove it another twelve years.
    Drove this all year in Canada .Daily driver fun and lots of comments.
    Snow tires in the winter with a full tank of gas
    No problem.
    Original Borg Warner tranny never did a thing to it other than topping it up when I had to replace the shaft seal to the drive shaft.
    Only let me stranded once .Air pump pully froze up .
    By passed the pump with a shorter belt and was back on the road in two hours.
    Really easy to work on twenty minutes to change the plugs
    Best and most reliable car I ever had
    Not a day goes by I don't miss that old girl.

    in 1985 my dad surprised me by picking me up from school (I was a freshman) driving a 1983 Mustang GT (that was more of a maroon color I think), I was in love with that car, it was a test drive.....two days later my dad went down to the dealer to buy that car, but it had been purchased already....we were both crushed,,,,,,,,,,,,fast forward I got a 1995 black GT 5 speed brand new that we both got to enjoy------mustangs forever

      Even looks aside they were geared so much bertter with rear and trans. Had it been 3:73, would have been as fast as the old days.

    Oh man..... I've been trying not to say anything but I can't help myself. You Iowa farm boys are rocking the Foxbodys and for that, you've earned yourselves a like and a new subscriber, love from Kentucky🤟
    Oh, if you would have ordered that tail light from LMR, that tail light would have been in your possession within 4 days👍

    It's a beautiful car! Anyone who would buy it would be stupid to ever get it wet to even worry about T leaks.

    Looks like one of the best examples around! But not one of the most desirable examples.
    Get an 84, 86 SVO in that condition and you have a collectable.
    I drove an 86 GT for 11 years as my daily. Drove it cross country twice, once with a Vortech S trim on it.
    Dependable cars.

    Beautiful car. Almost perfect. It is missing the 5 spd, however. Easy swap, but with 45K miles you would want to keep this car original.
    One of my buddies in high school had this car, I think. Does it have any history in Texas or MO? Prices dropped hard after the EFI engines came out. It was like buying a '93 Trans Am in 1997. Everyone wanted the new LS1 so the LT cars were cheap.

    I didn't know the GT also had that single Y-pipe exhaust. I have a GLX that I want to be a tad louder, but it is in such good condition I don't want to touch it.

    the information listed on the car has some wrong information. the car does not have a 9 inch rear end. the 82 had a 7.5 rear end which was too weak, which was changed out to an 8.8 rear end in follow on years which was much better. not sure what year that happened.

    • @05gtdriver
      @05gtdriver ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1985 was the final year for the 7.5" diff in V8 Mustangs. 1986 is the first year the 8.8" became standard in V8 Mustangs(and still is to this day).

    I was told many years ago that Michelin no longer made the tires m for the TRX rims ?
    They were a metric size.

  • @bigd835
    @bigd835 ปีที่แล้ว

    very nice shape. I had an 82. in 82 , the first 5.0 edition they were 157 HP 2 barrel. in 83 they went to 4 barrel and 175 hp. I think the 83 had a 5 speed, my 82 had a 4 speed. the TRX rims / tires must go. unafforadble and poor riding compared to the 85 and up with normal tires. amazed that the dash board has not cracked on this car . the cost a fortune to replace.

    • @kevinwaalker
      @kevinwaalker 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes the 83 had the 5 speed

    Slats laughing out loud, I really am! Those are louvers, I had them on my 82 and my 85. You have to be careful with those, running 80 mph and a strong wind and they’re gone. Lol
