Belmondo does not finish the job. A professional would have hit the roof of the car when it was turned over, at full speed thereby killing or seriously damaging the people who tried to kill him. Perhaps the film authorities did not want that. In real life either party would have been dead. Nevertheless, I enjoyed this chase much more than most Hollywood chases.

I love the scene since I first saw it when the film came out in Germany in '82 or '83 and on the rare occasions I visit Paris and the Trocadéro, I always think of the Fiat/Peugeot ballet on the stairs.
Though any logical approach just ruins the scene: if Rosen and Farge wanted to kill Joss Beaumont all along, why not do it as he left the building? Why wait for him to drive away in a car (with a F1 engine, as it seems) and then chase him across Paris??
