Hi George, The PCV heater and the O2 sensor heater faults ARE related - they share the same power supply/fuse. I would think that the fuse blew finally on your car, therefore avoiding the fire event when the PCV heater shorted and melted down. This is indeed a recall on all N52 engines in the US. Easy fix - replace the PCV heater and wiring/connector, install an in-line fuse for it and then replace the O2 sensor heater fuse. This is basically what the US recall instructs the dealers to do.
Yep had the same on my son's 325i we just disconnected the heater and left alone replaced fuse all sensors working , it's odd they share the O2 fuses .
@ o2 sensor HEATER - is a separate heater element on the surface of the O2 sensor element that can be commanded on/off by the DME to speed up the time taken to get the O2 sensor element itself up to working temperature.
My dad just sold our E87 120D a couple days ago. I felt bittersweet as the car required too much maintenance on the electronics to our likings. At least the new owner is very happy with the car.
Would LOVE to see a video on replacing the washer pump as the one on my e90 330i has just stopped working and MOT is due soon! Looks like you got a bargain George.
i had a problem with my washer bottles on my e87 msport had to wash the bottle and pump by taking the drivers wheel off and arch to remove the water tank #
I have a spare washer pump that I bought for the rear washer on my deceased E61 if you want it. It's in New Zealand, though 😂... easy swap through the wheel arch liner as you'd know, George.
Isn't the number one thing wrong with it the fact that it's a BMW? No, I'm not bitter. Honest. I bought a 120i E*& 10 months ago, and so far I've had to replace the VVT motor and sensor, the water pump (and related fitting, because plastic), and the alternator (because it sits right under the oil filter, and BMW don't want to spend money on decent seals). I also had to replace the right rear window regulator, but at least I could do that work myself. Someone had replaced the regulator before, but from the looks of things it was just a secondhand part, and that just means it was just another worn/degraded part. I got an aftermarket new item, and it had been nicely greased beforehand. Only about an hour's work to sort out, but a terrible design (like everything else on the BMW).

Also the washer bottle and pumps are behind that corroded wing panel, so you can address that issue at the same time!!

I own a 2006 E86 3.0si, The N52 engine is a peach 👌
Agreed!
Hi George , not unusual , I have had all 4 sensors failed roughly at the same time.
Any updates on your workshop build
Coming soon hopefully👌🏻

George, nice to see you with another BMW. What scanner tool you using, would this cover both BMW and Mercedes?
Should be linked in the description Jon👍🏻
Get the washer pumps replaced/filters cleaned when replacing nearside wing. Two birds etc...
Yup!

Milton baby tablet in the washer bottle might clear up and gunk George :)
The n52 with a plastic rocker cover doesn't have a pcv heater
It does

Appreciate it mate, I actually kept one from the scrap E60 though!
Thats a bargain mate, easy fixes easy money. I like the color as well, wish i could find cars like that 👍
Sounds like the starter motor is slow and weak. I just replaced mine on my n52 at 211k . This would be the third starter replaced.
It’s more the battery that just needs a good charge because it hasn’t been driven much👍🏻
Can’t understand why the crank case breather needs to have a heater
Just to stop vapours freezing
IN THE WUUURLD

I always recommend staying away from the 116, 118 and 120i
Why do car youtubers always put their hands on their heads for a thumbnail
Because it gets more views
😊👍🙋
Hi mate have you consider doing Car Vertical, just to be sure isnt a Catagorised Vehicle?
I did do a vehicle check and it’s not👍🏻
