As you're probably aware, the background track is very similar to the Etta James song - I'd Rather Go Blind. In fact (since I'm also a huge Angelina Jordan fan), you might be interested in a mashup that was made between Chis & Angelina - each singing sections of the 2 different songs to the same background track (whether or not you actually react to it). Yes, that's very much a Kentucky "i" (depending on where in Kentucky he's from). In Western Kentucky, it's almost an "ah" sound (I drive people crazy because I don't sound like a Kentuckian, even though I was born and raised there).
