Owning previous Athlete and able to drive my friend's all new Athlete, I feel like I'm not missing out a lot. I can feel the power difference. I can feel it wanna go fast. I can feel the torque off the line, but it makes the throttle so twitchy on low speed while previous gen throttle feels manageable. The gearbox sometimes hang the rev higher or not shifting earlier than previous gen. The NVH on the new one is so much better, soaking up the engine noise. The new seat is so much plush, and you can go lower on the seat. The rear legroom is so big as well, but the rear seat is much comfortable on the older gen. Can't comment on the infotainment since I changed mine from delivery. But 360 degree camera helps a lot. Having that missing on the new model, will be a cumbersome. Rarely used my paddle shift but it's nice to use on-the-go.
Hard to justify the asking price for the specs being offered. I mean, top up a little more you can get Ford Ranger Wildtrak, with rear disc brakes, waaay better entertainment unit, ADAS, comes with 2.0 litre engine with 210 hp and 500NM of torque and also waaay better refinement overall. Now that no more diesel subsidies, you would really want your money worth for your pickup truck.
It's such a bummer that they remove some of the features in some countries such as the 360 cameras. If you check the Philippine spec, it comes with a 360 camera and a spoiler as stock and a garnish on the front bumper for the Athlete variant.
You are right. The Pajero Sport was launched with 8AT mated to the 4D56. With the latest facelift in 2024, it got the same powertrain as the Triton's 4N16 mated to 6AT.
Here in the Philippine mitsubishi triton group most issues they are sharing that there's a leak outside the shock absorber after driving few miles. Well I hope it's just a weepage. How about there in Malaysia 🤔
The "new" Hilux is only a facelift bcos using same platform and body size. Hope to see Toyota update the interior and use same outboard rear suspension as the Hilux GRS
@@notagain2856 seriously? The platform is already 20 years old now... And they didn't even bother to make a new platform for a car that only changed once for ten years? Seriously toyota?
Toyota rumoured still using Hilux Vigo platform for NEW Hilux, you can search HILUX TRAVO for more info. Really disappointed if this is true bcoz I do plan to trade in my current Hilux if the newer model is bigger & better than current model. 😅
It's a facelift. The platform Been around since 2005 or something. Maybe they introduced the 2.8 engine with mild hybrid setup. But malaysian being a malaysian, whatever toyota sell, they gonna buy it
Hope you make more videos frequently...feels like a long wait from 1 video to the next
True, recent days Paultan looks like left the path for the new reviewers and stepping back.

No 360 surround camera even as an option is almost criminal for a 170k behemoth
Yes, i agreed with you. 360 cameras makes life easier. However, this car has yaw control and it has advantages for a car this long.

11:36 you sure revised Pajero Sport with 4N16 engine is available with 8AT?

@@notagain2856 4N15 + 8AT not 4D56
Could you review Ford Ranger too?
I believe even the previous version of Xpander got 360 cam. Why new Triton don't have it?

In sarawak seems like no one using it.
Mitsubishi doing good job with this pickup

front look is difficult to like
ya , true
Poor design, reduced comfort for the passengers and I will stick to the previous model!
No locker for 170k
Front or rear? IINM it has rear diff locker, and active LSD.
The rear looks like a hilux
sadly not the design, massive downgrade compared to the previous
Jellek mcm muka celestial 😂
