Thanks for posting this video! One of the Q150 speakers rattled on deep bass, turns out the outer ring was not pressed deep enough on the factory. Had to press it slightly more and the sound is perfect now. I was afraid it's a part of the speaker.
Just picked up a set of Q550 in white and tried them out last night in my lounge atmos setup. Watched Star Wars, those speakers are amazing and powerful! I stepped out of the house to see if neighbours would be bothered and figured I'd turn it down a bit! XD love them.
@@optimusprime708 I have the same setup as ISEE YOU, except that I have the Q50a's instead of ceiling speakers. They sound phenomenal. I'll also add in that I forgot to turn on my subwoofer one time and I didn't realize the subwoofer was off because the Q950's have a really good bass reproduction
@@mhp_loudspeakers3768 not in most cases but a large coil and magnet can get rid of heat much faster meaning playing these flat out they should sound good also large coil means more windings than a smaller one the two drivers will make you think they are 4 drivers performing when two are just radiators
@@statham_8259 No center channel either? I wouldn't see an issue with it. The speakers perform well at low volumes and the mids sound great. The bass is good too but you will need to have it a bit louder for it to have that bass effect. If I had to use these in a stereo configuration, I'd be pleased.
They're boomer but definitely not as punchy and smooth as when they had the 4 way IQ series before they went all boxy. The twin LF drivers were both active ported and the bottom one was tuned lower than the top which have it a much richer sound that more seamlessly integrated with a sub. There's this hollowness to the passive radiators that spoil the blend
No heavy bracing, no added dampening inside the cabinet, no bitumen treated cabinet walls, humidity makes the cabinet MDF like a sponge, no de coupling!!! No silicon gaskets!!! A complete rip off. Yes. Build your own.!!!
Crazy Speaker pro 95 maybe but at least they are using passive radiators instead of ports, this makes port chuffing non existent. With this design you are getting a decent 3way speaker design that is phase coherent and looks pretty nice. One thing I do agree with you on is that there isn’t enough damping and bracing, they could have done better.

Hi, I'm removing my Uni-Q driver array from a pair of KEF Q300's hoping you can help with some advice. I have removed the outer plastic trim, and also the 6 screws holding the driver to the cabinet. How do you remove it from the cabinet after that as it seems there is some adhesive holding it down still? I notice some pieces of wood on the back of the drivers you have removed. Is there a way to remove without doing any damage? Many Thanks.

It's so lame that they sold out to the thump and tizz market. While these look nicer than the Q series, the reduction from a 4 way ported design down to a 3 way with 2 passive radiators not only required the boxes to be bigger, square and uglier but the bass doesn't blend as seamlessly and richly with a sub. The added boom of passive radiators will always sound more hollow and smeared than true active drivers even if it gives you the impression of more boom
They were never a 4 way, and this version is not a 3 way. It's a 2 1/2 way. There is nothing wrong with passive radiators, and they are superior to a port, and more expensive. If you want three bass drivers with quality bass, you're going to have to spend more than this.
Uh, where is the joke? The Q line has been regularly getting improvements/refinements and this version is the 8th generation. The passive radiator (drivers with no wires) is a common approach that many manufacturers employ, and is used instead of a port in the cabinet.
What do you think is in there? Sunshine’s and rainbows? Speakers are usually particle board, form dampening and drivers screwed in lol. These are great sounding speakers and when you get them on sale they are really hard to beat for the $$. Let your ears guide you..
I wouldn't guessed 2 of them are passive long story short you end up paying for 4 speakers and a enclosure but u getting 2 and 2 passive, what a f... shame kef
The desillusion if you open bose speaker is far worse. The more well build for entre level is QAcoustics...build like a tank. The inside bracings, woofers support, tickness of walls. By the way....the passive woofers are not for fools. ...its a technic to reduce the size of the box and or to tune the lower end response.
Thank you for making videos like this for those of us not skilled enough to take our speakers apart. A source for good!!

Ryan I’m thinking of getting the Q950 just to do stereo sound, no sub. How does it do through the range. High, mid, low?

This is why Bose is better. Bose uses better materials, better drivers, and better build quality.

I love the part where you just smash the front of the drivers down on the table like they were blocks of wood.
The drivers are not that sensetive as you think.
These are passive radiators
🤣🤣🤣
Would have been nice to see the part number on the uni-q.
How were you able to pop the covers off at the very beginning? Was it with a panel remover tool? And are there just clips that hold it in?
Just pull carefully the rings. No special tools
Luckily I came here before I buy one of this.
So does the kef q650c also use the passive radiator?
I dont buy more expensive speaker cable ! Look..... Very cheap the wire inside speakers 😤
Hello sir when can where can we buy a bottom driver for q750
From KEF.
I make speaker cabinets ten times better
i have Q 650 and when i look inside on the bass unit were sticker with 6 ohm and there shoud be 8 ohms right ?
No. 8Ω is the speaker, not the drivers
Damn that's bad ass.
how they sound?

Very good at low to moderate volumes, but really lack driver size for big bass

wow fantastic drivers, especially the lfe (sub) driver look fantastic, but the cabinet is horrible!
What a joke you can see where they saved money I'm very let down I was going to buy some kef this week not now
That's the way it is with speakers. There's always trade-offs somewhere - no matter the budget.
