  • Today we meet Jim and his wife Michelle, owners of Caballo Loco Ranch RV Park near Tucson, Arizona. I have to tell you that this is one of the most beautiful locations for an RV Park I have ever seen, and probably the very best deal on an RV Park anywhere in the country right now. If you are looking for a very inexpensive (but beautiful) place to camp for multiple months of the year, or even for the entire year, this is the place to go! Best of all, you can lease a full-hookup site in your RV, or camp in a car, van or even a tent-EVERYONE IS WELCOME!!!

      Me, too! I saw the original video from a couple of years ago and my first thought was that was going to be my retirement plan. I already live in that general region and have been living in the very rural desert for most of the last 30 years, so it wouldn't too big an adjustment for me, plus it would fit my very modest retirement income. Hopefully, if and when these folks retire they can hand it off to people with the same humanitarian spirit.

    Wish I knew about this place a year ago friend could have lived there. I found him a small trailer we couldn't find an RV park he could afford he was living in his car at a Walmart and using the trailer for a few hours a day at a RV storage place. They kept raising the rates and his situation got worse he got very depressed. Unfortunately, he didn't get along with my wife we live in a very small house. One day last march I went to his trailer found him dead he took his own life. I didn't know about your channel I would have directed him to your videos. Your videos are great anyone who is homeless living in a car can learn from them maybe buy a small RV, or van find happiness that's what it's all about. Thanks for making these videos and I hope someone else can learn from them.

    Great video, Bob! Another inexpensive place people may want to look at living is the Rio Grande Valley in south Texas. Hundreds of RV parks offering the same type of community at affordable prices. My husband and I live in Tropic Winds RV Park, Harlingen, TX for about $260/month (year round rate). And we're not the cheapest RV park. Includes wifi, cable tv, water, sewer, trash, yard maintenance. Just have to pay electric. Plus there's a pool, hot tub, club house with library and puzzle table, new gym, ping pong tables, pool tables, dances, other entertainment and activities. Less than an hour's drive to Mexico for cheap dental and prescription drugs, as well as the Gulf of Mexico (South Padre Island) for beach lovers. Our park is out in the cornfields, but 5 minutes to town for restaurants, hospitals, groceries, etc. Many snowbirds as well as full-time residents. This park isn't good for dry campers, but others in the area may accommodate them.

    About the same time this video was recorded I stayed at caballo, I only signed up for a weeks stay because of the weather, it was sunny, but the wind & cold air was disturbing. When it warmed & the wind died down some daily, I decided to pay for a years stay, but was told that they had a rule that you had to be self contained or you couldn't stay there. They have two buildings with toilets & showers, two dump sites for waste, & a fresh water supply outlet. I have 21 gallons of fresh water, a 1800 watt jackery solar generator with 400 watts of solar panel, & a 1800 watt gas generator for electrical backup. I met many people there who went out of their way to make me feel welcome & wanted & needed, but was turned away because I didn't have a holding tank for black & gray water. I was very disappointed after traveling 1400 miles for the experience.

    This does sound nice no mention of internet service or cell phone service that would be interesting to note especially living that remotely also 8 miles down a dirt road and another maybe 18 miles to the closest place or 45 miles from Tucson that's a long ways to be from any services considering the price of gas because there's always grocery shopping supplies medical appointments etc that seems to be a big downside and if diesel does get higher it's going to be very hard to live there year-round when you need air conditioning in that type of heat it is an admirable that he is doing this and offering this as a service to the community

    • @happycook6737
      @happycook6737 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I might see it a little differently. For what you save on rent, you can afford the gas to town. The desert cools off at night if you aren't in a paved area. Starting around 8pm it cools down. When I lived on the desert, we opened windows at 4am to 5:30am. Rarely did I need heat. It cools off the inside. You might not want to be in an RV May to October but you can go up in altitude to find cooler areas. You won't need any climate control October to May. That's 8 months no heat/no ac No humidity except during monsoon seasons (Dec and July) means you are comfy to 90 degrees. Can use evaporative cooling by wetting a sheet and letting it dry in your space.

      Living there in an RV with little or no AC during the summer could be deadly. Too hot even for your propane refrigerator to work. Winter at night is easily in the 30's. I lived at 2200 feet altitude near there & one winter night hit low of 15° at a time before we got heat in our house. Outside pipes froze & then burst.

    Hi, Bob,
    Thanks for this info. I can’t believe they actually have quarter to half acre lots. You could move a tiny house on wheels into a lot like that and live very comfortably.
    Whatever happened to the Coyote Howls campground in Ajo, Arizona? As I recall that was only $550 a year for a normal size campground site with a storage shed, but no hook ups whatsoever. I think they would also take care of your mail all year, so if you don’t need hook ups or a bigger site, that might be a good deal if it’s still available.
    Thanks for all you do.

    Our Board if Supervisors won’t allow these types of developments because land prices here are insanely high-they want maximum $$ to fund their pensions. A community like this should exist in every town. We ate sorely lacking in affordable housing for seniors on limited incomes. Thanks for featuring Jim and his wife and their beautifully maintained park. ❤️

      where?

    • @orangefield3171
      @orangefield3171 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is so true. I live in a RV community that was started when my city was a outlying area with dirt roads. Now the prices for property are going crazy so another community like this will never be built. The city council would love to have this property and rezone it for commercial to get the big tax dollars.

      I can’t believe that’s a thing. I was born into a generation where no one cares. My grandma used to tell me stories about people being nicer in the past and caring for each other.
      I was born too late. I belong to the 1900’s

    Wow!! What a great story. I wish there were more places (and people) like this in the world. So glad I found the CheapRVliving TH-cam channel and am able to meet the nomadic people through this medium and follow along with their stories and experiences. It is my plan to be live the nomadic lifestyle when I retire and I hope a place like Caballo Loco Ranch is still available to visit and spend some time with some obvious genuine and authentic people. Would love to see more stories about the people that live/visit there and what makes it so special to them. Thank you again for your content and see you on the road someday soon.

    This is what I need when I'm ready. A place to rent for a great price and around the area I'd like to maybe move to. I live in Massachusetts and hate the cold. I have been over there in the past and loved it but it was a quick drive through.

    Bob this is what we need all over the country both countries, USA and Canada. We need spots like this that Nomads can stay at. It would be an amazing group of communities where Nomads can live without the threat of losing their homes. If we had a number of these campgrounds then the Nomads could move around and possibly the owners could stay in contact with each other for scheduling. God bless this couple.

    I wonder if the owners have thought about trying to install solar and/or wind turbines, instead of running a diesel generator.

  • @HankHill757
