He nows exactly where the buffs are located, the game is INCREDIBLY responsive, the closer you are the the monster when you send you bug out, the faster you can call it back after it connects to the monster, thats how he is able to do the (hold L2)+Triangle - (Hold L2)+Circle inputs 3 times in less than 4 seconds, it pays to have twitchy fingers in monster hunter :P
This is my first Monster Hunter game and the insect glaive is what appeals to me the most (looks and playstyle) and I have a few noob questions. From what I have observed, this weapon seems to lack in damage in comparison to all the other weapons - am I wrong? I grab all the buffs and try to do the typical combos, but I feel like I am just tickling him with a feather (I typically just aim where I can hit since I am still a noob). Do you have any tips? Also do think aerial attacks are viable or are they not worth it? Do you think vaulting is a good dodge mechanic? Conceptually I feel like vaulting in the air and evading would be a great way to avoid dangerous attacks such as the Nergigante's dive attack, but I am just getting slapped out of the air. Is this just a timing issue for me?
Yes compared to past games, the motion values for the main combo (T, T, O) was lowered and it seems like using tornado slash as much as possible will provide the most dps out of the weapon. It's important to remember that not a lot of the potential of the IG was shown off during the beta. Endgame Kinsects usually have nice buffs associated with them. One popular one was in MH Generations where getting the white buff would give 30% affinity. There is also the new Kinsect dust mechanic. We've only seen poison and healing dusts but there may be others so here's hoping for some cool ones. Lastly, IG benefits from greatly from elemental damage and we were given a pure raw glaive so expect to do a bit more damage when using the appropriate element for each monster. As for vaulting, you really want to mininize how often you use aerial attacks. Vaulting and aerial evades are great for mobility but the aerial attacks aren't very strong. I would try to use them sparingly.
also dont worry the timers well go back to normal usually u get 50mins so ull have plenty of time to figure out combos and where to hit the monsters for more dmg, etc
Vaulting is definitely viable evasive maneuvers and they are great for mounting. However, since you can only do little damage during mounting, it is usually avoided in solo cases (especially in speedrun). However, when playing with others, mounting is a great way to provide large opening for others to do dmg. Therefore, aerial attacks will be more useful in multiplayer mode.
We actually had this exact question come up in the MH reddit - if you're looking for advice on how to use the Insect Glaive to its fullest potential, this might be helpful: www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHunter/comments/7rosbg/why_i_love_the_glaive/dsyngij/
I love the insect glaive, and watching you is just amazing. Hopefully I can get to your level. Great job. You are very motivating. Keep it up
How in the world are you getting your buffs so fast? O.o Very nice video, though. Thanks so much.
