One of the things I love about last year is it brought light to realness. Everything is not a party and we need to hear uplifting messages from artists and Kendrick is the man to do it. Thank you for listening to him!
Kendrick Lamar has been on top of his game for at least 10 years and that’s being modest! It just shows how in our culture we gravitate to the dumb down, the pacification of music! This happens in all genres of black music, jazz, hip-hop, and other forms of music! Kendrick is more of a true artist than he is a hip-hop artist he surround himself with top studio artist he takes his time and chooses and has input on the music and the samples that are used in his music and there’s always multiple messages! I just love the fact when the most recent beef between him and Drake came along how so many people sided with Drake just because of his record Sales, and it’s so ironic all the things that Kendrick said about Drake directly is aging so well, him crying over the beef like Lil Wayne, issuing lawsuits! Drake was going against a highly intelligent foe and Drake is so predictable he thinks his money and fame can overcome true talent!
To me, this song is a good example of why Kendrick is just on a different tier than Drake. It’s creative but also raw, vulnerable and authentic. He bares his soul. And to me that’s what makes amazing artists - no matter the genre or medium. Great reaction ❤🔥
And that’s why I’m not fooled. Drake is like Vegas. Flashy and trying too hard to pull me in. Kendrick is like a garden full of fruit and interesting experiences.
There’s been a lot of platforms over the last 5 to 10 years that have been trying to tell young people that music with a message doesn’t matter! We have to continue to grow and inform! God bless you, my guy 🙏🏽✊🏽
Kendrick Has always been on top He is not a commercial rapper like drake and Cole He always been underground 1st rapper to ever win PP That alone make him a GOAT
As a die hard Dot fan last year was his biggest year without question. Not his best year musically but the he’s never made more noise and gotten more attention. Most of all his execution was all time.
Kendrick is a generational talent, check out; Father Time Art Of Peer Pressure How Much a Dollar Costs Blacker The Berry Hii- Power Just to name a few.
I cannot listen to this song “ sing about me “I’m dying of thirst“ without sobbing uncontrollably. Even writing this comment has my eyes welling up with tears because of how much that song hits to the core of me.
Great response from a Drake fan. But I too never really listen to Kendrick until 3 yrs ago and most his music is relatable to me and I understand his art of music and his perspective of life.
1st verse: 7 year old fears 2nd verse: 17 year old fears 3rd verse: 27 year old fears Notice how his voice changes in every verse, reflecting those ages
To be fair…Dot was never talking about Drake being “white” in terms of race but Drake being “white” in terms of how he views “n*ggas”. It’s all entertainment to him not real life. Being impoverished or coming from areas strapped by that reality isn’t prejudice, it will swallow anybody it can. So when people play with it like it isn’t a matter of life and death or survival…it’ll always rub people who truly care wrong. IMO
The Perspectives on this song is EPIC. K Dot is a very complex, diverse MC that knows how to play with different sonic sounds to tell a story while still ability to make songs you can vibe to.
The heart part 4 gave this song an extra layer of beauty for me both songs are amazing i just love seeing an artist repurpose their own beats for different things like the way J.Cole uses forbidden fruit to make Neighbors
Yes, the beginning of it is played backwards because this album can be listened front to back or starting with Duckworth ending with the song blood. It’s the journey from wickedness to weakness, as we are weak before God or it’s starting under weakness, ending in wickedness this album is a legitimate masterpiece. That’s why he won the Pulitzer Prize for it
Please keep looking into Kenny. Each album tells a story, so it’s better to go album by album. Damn tells a story whether you listen to the songs forward or backward. Once it sinks in, it’s wild.
Loved your reaction to this track. Those of us who have loved Kendrick long time understand that he takes his art to a whole other level. Yeah he can spit, he can rhyme, he can spin stories - but he is driven by a greater vision too. That Pullitzer was not coincidence, its never been given to any popular artist in history. They recognised greatness when they heard it. Thanks 🙏🏽
I was hooked on this track last year. Kendrick points to how fear is instilled in him early on due to the stress his mother was under and pointed out the financial struggles that made her stressed. Then how the system is designed to make him a death statistic as a teen. Then how all that fear conditioning made him fearful and paranoid as a successful artist. What caught me was the “I’m high now” chant, where I believe it reflects on how these impoverished communities use drugs/sex to cope. Kendrick is a genius.
You should listen to the whole album… Damn, To Pimp a Butterfly, Good Kid Maad City…start from his earliest to the latest… it’s a whole movie with series and episodes. KDot!! ❤
I think listening to the Heart series will encapsulate Kendrick at all the points throughout his career since they all come before a major release. They not only gives you a glimpse of the subject matter of the album it predates, but his mentality about the project and how its release affects him at that point in time. You will see him hungry, nervous, self-conscious, confident, pissed off, grateful all while giving you bars. He’s a one-of-one
Kendrick Lamar tells you a complete story in his albums. He is not a single kind of drop artist, he is a master storyteller!GKMC is my favorite album of all time,DAMN is my second favorite
I love seeing people hear some of Dot’s storytelling joints for the first time. It reminds me of when I heard them for the first time. Shit is different.
You do know that good kid maad City is meant to be a concept album, and plays like a movie. You saying you listen to a couple songs from it it's like watching random scenes from a movie and trying to form an opinion on it. Kendrick's albums are meant to be listened to in their entirety
You NEVER!!! Heard this? Man you just really not have been a Kendrick fan at all lol. This album was HUGE. But then again 😂 I don’t listen to Drake anymore mostly because I think he stopped growing as an artist.
0:48 - “im talking about music and numbers” you would be incorrect. DAMN sold 600K first week. We have to stop using our assumptions when we weren’t there as an opinion of fact. Pull up the billboard history of greatest rappers alive, he’s always been listed at #2. This was BEFORE the beef and before you decided to pay attention. Also, Kendrick albums are CONCEPT albums. You are not getting the real feel of the story and how the songs flow into one another. Some songs are even call backs from previous songs. - great reaction though
If you haven’t you should definitely listen to Sing About Me/Dying of Thirst. Really the whole GKMC album is a movie. Pac used to be my favorite rapper but Kendrick has taken that spot for me personally. If Pac would’ve have more time, who knows where he would’ve went in the future but to me Kendrick showed & proved for his spot
Kendrick’s GNX album is him dumming down his music . Last time he did this was on Humble and it went crazy . This new album has all bangers it’s a troll album .He’ll be back to the regular scheduled program next album .
Yo Dex, Im literally always asking you to react to more Kendrick songs. You are really missing some genius things man. Kendrick is the best thing raper out here in this generation and no one comes closer (if we speaks lyrics, creativity and everything a real Raper should have). He has a song titled "FEEL" Check it out!
The whole song is about the fear of god and the part about the mom is how it feels when all of the worst things happen to you and you have to question why god just like you would question why is my mom doing this to me but we know at the end of the day it was because she loved us
West side right on time by Kendrick is fire. I believe it was on a mixtape, but Jeezy is featured on it. Listen to it and let me know if anybody likes it? I can share so much music with you guys if you’re just being exposed to his music.
Let's set the record straight The Order Of Melchizedek ancient Canaanites Kemit Mystery School is where the blk Hebrews got their lessons from their cousins Kushites
Kendrick had one of the best bars on here and you didn't catch it. 95 percent people didn't. After chanting the same thing over and over in reverse in the beginning his first words to start the verse is ILL beat your asS keep TALKING BACK 😂
One of my favorite pieces of art by Kendrick. Very poignant. I even dig how he weaves in excerpts of his personal life, like his old-head religious speaking on the interlude, it works as art, although in a real world context misguided rhetoric like this Hebrew Israelite ideology being spoken here is better seen as a toxic symptom of our oppression rather than some cure. If there’s one thing I’m sad for Kendrick about its the apparent influence this rhetoric on his worldview, and the potential influence this might have on others.
I'm not sure where that "I don't care who's light skinned or white" comment came from, because if that's what you believe Kendrick's issue is about Drake (as many of his fans assume), then you missed the points Kendrick made during the beef. And you also have ignored how anti-hiphop Drake has behaved since the beef ended. Nevertheless, I enjoyed this reaction. Most of Kendrick's albums are _concept_ albums which are intended to be listened to all at once, in order for the first listen. I would recommend listening to them that way to get the full feeling of the songs/albums. With that being said, all the albums _are_ Kendrick, including GNX. Given his many concept albums, some Kendrick fans seem to have forgotten that he IS a West Coast artist. GNX is his way of showing love to where he's from. It may not have a concept or be as lyrically complex as his other albums, but GNX is definitely Kendrick.
@@mr.dr0bot731 if I said I NEVER heard Kendrick in my life in this video my bad. I’ve heard Kendrick before, not much but I have heard him before. Them movies have nothing to do with Kendrick lol NOTHING.
Your reaction makes me baffled how you haven’t listened to him for the most part…. Seems like you would appreciate his depth. Most ppl who don’t listen to him don’t appreciate real music and only want the typical twerk/gangbang/pop music that’s just for a “vibe”. Which is just another way of characterizing music that “pacifies you” and keeps you mindless
This album is archived at Harvard. Some folks have to grow into Kendrick’s music and that’s ok. Don’t miss the messages. Realness culture unapologetic
I'm mad at myself for going so long without really checking Kendrick's catalog out, man is brilliance personified
Welcome to the squad
I love how you grow to appreciate the art... DAMN!! 🔥🔥🔥💯
Wow. The greatest Rapper of my lifetime. This touches my soul.
We all knew Drake had no chance. Dot is one of them ones in the convo for goat.
KENDRICK IS 1 OF THE MOST CREATIVE MC's EVER! (1ST VERSE):7YRS OLD (2ND VERSE):17YRS OLD (3RD VERSE):27YRS OLD . NOT EVEN MENTIONING THE BARS, CRAZY!!
My favorite part, which alot of people miss, is the fact he names 17 ways he couldve died at 17 on the 2nd verse 🔥🔥🔥 His pen is next level insane

Not even j Cole is like this, yes he's a lyrical artist like dot but Kendrick just on a different wave
I think most people relate to Kendrick’s lyrics more…as far as everyday life. Drake has more people that just plain idolize him and his lifestyle.
And that’s why I’m not fooled. Drake is like Vegas. Flashy and trying too hard to pull me in. Kendrick is like a garden full of fruit and interesting experiences.
