    Richard thanks for this thorough review. I’ve been eyeing this car for a few years and have been saving to buy it - all cash, no financing. I’ll be picking it up tomorrow and I’m so excited. Just in time for summer…

    Great review. The one in the video was so shiny! I got my RF new 1 year ago and love it. I’m a single 30 something year old and it works for me as my only car. Loved the discussion about storage. I got a mesh pencil case and left it permanently open and slotted between the sill and drivers seat so I can store my sunglasses in there. In the tiny centre compartment, I put my house keys and hand sanitiser in there. Wallet and car key stay in my pocket. Finally, the phone sits in that area in front of the shifter or sometimes I’ll have it clipped onto the windscreen mounted holder.
    Reason I purchased was I wanted a super reliable and super analogue driving experience. I love it.

      Thanks, I was questioning if I should be buying this as a 24 year old as only car as many people are complaining about the lack of space or it being a two seater. I don't plan on starting a family yet so I think this would be awesome to drive! Thank you for sharing your experience and tips. Greetings from the Netherlands :)

    I'll be placing a factory order this weekend for a 2021 RF GT in polymetal grey. I love the way the white interior looks with polymetal grey, but I'm terrified it'll start looking nasty pretty fast. I've waited many years to buy a Miata and I want to keep it looking like new for decades, so I'm getting black. It may be a bit boring, but it's easy to keep looking nice.

    I enjoyed the review, and it was nice as an englishman to hear a north American say Mazda rather than Marzda.😂 I agreed with pretty much all of it except the view that's not an everyday car .I'm a 63 year old divorced guy with grown up kids and tbh it's perfect for me as an everyday car , both for leisure and commuting, and always for pleasure, because as you say ,its such a fun car to drive.

    I got my RF GT in 2017, before the power bump. I'm so happy with this car I have no plans to sell or trade it for a long time. Even though mine only gets 155 HP, it feels quick enough for me. I didn't expect i would like the car. I was cross shopping the Subaru BRZ as well. I thought that would be my choice. I also expected to like the Nissan 370z, which I did, but not like the Miata. I'm tempted to purchase a 2022 Subaru BRZ. It has some good reviews. If I do buy, I wouldn't be trading the Miata. I would have 2 sports cars. I suspect I don't make enough to do that though, but I can dream. I'm also dreaming of the newest Corvette, because GM finally made it mid-engine. Most likely I'd be buying a used one though. Whatever I actually do, I'll be keeping the Miata for a long time.

    I am in doubt if going for an mx5 RF 2.0 184hp here in Italy or a FIAT 124 SPIDER.
    I like the fact that the RF would be easy ti use also in winter time because I do a seasonal job that keep me extremely busy in summer. As an Italian man i must also say that it took me a bit of time to digest the mx5 nd design. But now I appreciate it especially in RF configuration. On the other hand the 124 spider has a classic line and i think it will age more easily than the mx5. Mmmm. Still in doubt!!! Helppppp

    • @FamilyWheels
      @FamilyWheels  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Decisions, decisions! The RF roof is mechanically perfect and provides better security. When open I enjoyed it as much as my full-roadster personal car (different brand). The ND also has a wider power band than the NC, so less rowing the gears around town.
      The Fiat is good looking, also a true sports car. I wasn’t wild about the turbo engine, less linear than the Mazda whose engine is a jewel. The 124 has a tiny bit more space in the back, but they’re both bad for storage. Which cabin has less?!?
      My advice: pay attention to driveability, top-up cabin noise, and how it physically fits you (hopefully like an Italian suit). Thanks for watching, happy shopping. Ciao!

      @@FamilyWheels thanks for the fast answer. I just found a guy that is selling an mx5 nd1 RF metallic grey 2.0. @FamilyWheels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lucianolucidi8624 That's a lot of K's, and mileage is the key determinant of price. Check the used-car pricing websites or perhaps your banker has access to market data. Ask the seller for a full service history and accident repair reports. Mazda powertrains are said to be reliable.

      @@FamilyWheels you re very kind and usefull. I just contacted now the owner and he said he got an offer for 21000€ from a guy. But on the phone he did not sound so shure to sell it to him. By the way he sent me some pics and videos of the car by whatsup and by those the car seems to be new. I said if you dont sell it to that guy contact me to see the car. But as you said the mileage its important and at 98000km the car start to need some mechanical fix usually. So more expenses. I think I ll try to lower the price to 20k but only if the car looks really brand new as he sais. We ll see. Otherwise better wait for another occasion than rushing to buy the first one. Good questions. The MX-5 has surprisingly good headroom, as reported by some tall people (a 6’+ friend had one), but obviously you’ll have to find out for yourself. While this generation needs much less rowing of the shifter, the torque of a straight-six or turbo-four engine feels stronger. Thanks for watching.
