Also...I love the head movement, the horn jerk, the constant funky beat, the flash, the pow! Love this band!!!

Yes, being different has paid off for SU! The NCAA ranked Southern University "Human JukeBox" marching band as having the 2nd best collegiate marching band in the nation. Ohio State ranked #1. Also, USA Today ranked Southern as having the #1 collegiate marching band in the nation. You see, being different pays off.

You have to go back to clips of 2007. That's when it started.
06 I would say..
Great drill and excellent marching as usual. But the low brass needs to clean that sound up during the drill. Dolls were beautiful and boring. Would have loved to hear the ballad from the front. Sounded beautiful from the back. Overall decent show.

i love su but they need to switch up there halftime shows and not repeat them
There's not enough time in the day for that. They already practice 5 days a week 4 and 5 hours a day and on top of that they are full time students. No band has the time to switch it up as they would like.

I love the band but they're drum line is so boring it's so basic I love to hear bands drum line jamming like in the meac and ciaa
It's 2/4 keeping time only time they're not keeping time is for concert formation its college not high school they don't need to impress judges with difficult parts you know..

Why do dance lines wear fake ass hair? That is really pathetic. Stop conforming to European standards of beauty. We have our own standard that's MUCH more beautiful than theirs. They're not setting a good example for younger African American girls with aspirations of being an HBCU dancer.

While I understand your irritation as I can't stand weaves either, but why do you assume that all their hair is fake? Since weaves have become so popular it's like we've forgotten that many black women have naturally long hair too. Don't any of us remember little black girls when they were growing up with long braids or plaits as we used to call them when I was young?? I have long hair and it irritates me beyond measure when someone asks me if it is a weave. It is not. Some of them may have weaves but I do not believe every young woman on the field has it.

I,ve spoken to many of the sista's that say wearing weaves is easier to maintain than there own hair.

Oh my Lord...Those Dolls were dancing in the damn mud ! I know the show HAD to go on, but DAMN...Look at their legs. They damn near need a bath. That's why I hate real turf!
Dci style is soo much better than whatever this is
This style is called show band style. This uses the same 8 to 5 but uses high stepping. When marching in show band style, knees are supposed to reach your stomach and they usually March with the bell facing whatever direction they are going. There is no pit with the exception of marching bells. The emphasis is on the entertainment rather than the accuracy of the lines or precision on exact notes. These types of shows are set up basically like dci except has a bit more sections. The sections are: opening music. Time for the dancers to shine. Ballad and time for the flags. Closers usually performing hip hop music and other music with a good beat.
Drum majors are on the field and normally conduct on the field,hardly on the podiums as those are reserved for the band director during the ballad.
Compared to dci, show band style does more dancing and usually goes for a louder tone.
Dci is boring as hell I don't understand the point of doing the same show over and over for a judge too judge you it's no fun playing a show and a few warm ups 😂

Southern University "Human JukeBox" marching band was invited to, and performed at 6 SuperBowls. USA Today ranks Southern as having the #1 collegiate marching band in the nation. NCAA ranks Southern has having the 2nd best collegiate marching band in the nation, with Ohio State ranking #1. Regardless of what you feel, our accomplishments out weighs your little feelings.
