Definitely keep these CD Whackas coming, Mazzy! Not once did we hear the diatribe about “who cut it and who mastered it, or which company this release is from which is so much better than that original version etc.” Honestly, this is a breath of fresh air! ‘Onya and cheers from Oz!

Looked like you were having allot of fun, and why not, that is such a fantastic room! I am very happy to see cds displayed. I have many and feel with the outrageous price of vinyl records perhaps a resurgence of the cd format will happen. I’d be excited about that actually. Nice variety in this video! ✌️

CD Whack-A-Moles are a great alternative source to show off music, and some really interesting releases to supplement the vinyl. Thanks, Chris

Danny Kirwin, Mazzy. Seeing the videos of him and Peter playing. He was kind of the primary on Kiln House, Future Games, and Bare Trees. His work on Then Play On is great too. Christine and Welsh wrote songs on the later two, and Jeremy was still with them for Kiln House. I liked Danny's songs so well that I bought his solo records.

Hi Mazzy, thanks for showing that great '64 Post magazine cover - beautiful. Brings back memories. I watched them on TV that night. Spellbound. Yeah, Fleetwod Mac is so interesting with their various interations. The "first" self-titled LP is great and I think I may like that one better than Rumours too. I'll have to do a back to back comparison sometime. Actully like Bob Welch era quite a bit, but that's off topic here... I believe the Petty hold out for $8.98 was the "Hard Promises" LP,. I read somewhere that we was going to title is "$8.98"... I like the CD Whack a Mole as much as the vinyl WaM. Really apperciate these videos and your broad knowledge about the insudtry and related areas. Peace out.

I have to confess that I unsubscribed last week because I felt the videos were becoming too repetitive. But I just re-subscribed because I realize how much I need your expansive view. You have such an extremely high level of knowledge and interest that is extremely wide ranging. You go into interests that are way beyond my own. I was born in 1949, turning 75 this summer so you can understand the kind of music that was the atmosphere for my high school years. A Bob Dylan picture in my locker was my statement to all the other students with different fan bases in the 60's. But today it is hard to explain what that meant in those days. He was not too fashionable to the regular crowd. Best wishes to you. I plan to stay around.

    I am enjoying these Whack-a-moles.
I think Rykodisc was in Salem, MA. I met Don Rose around that time, just when the label was starting (this was in Boston, 1982-nice music scene back then). The Neats, Salem 66, Classic Ruins, Dogmatics, Human Sexual Response, Del Fuego's (while they still had the hubcap player-he was gone once they signed to the major label) to name just a few.

Hi, two or three years ago i saw amongst your cd wall collection UNKLE`S - NEVER NEVER LAND ltd boxset. I asked you a question about it and you replied you can`t tell me anything about it because you`d never listened to it. That made me feel ever so slightly sad.
NEVER NEVER LAND features the classic track EYE FOR AN EYE. It`s a perfect example of how to create an original piece of art by using samples and studio instrumentation. Watching this video reminded me of my original question and i wondered if all these years later you had ever listened to the EYE FOR AN EYE track. It really is a very intelligently constructed thought provoking sample track.
Personally i collect both vinyl and cds ( no downloads ) only physical items so i always enjoy your cd videos just as much as your vinyl videos.
    Cheers
    From England.

Not totally true. I have listened to it many times, but is one of those albums artists, where I place the CDs in the trays and blast them. Electronic, percussive, maxi type mixes. But I’ve never really dived in and leaned about the artists that much. Their history. It’s electronic beats and mixes that simply move me, when in the mood.
If I replied that I never listened, I must have misunderstood the question 🤷🏻‍♂️. I’ve listened to all the CDs i own.
      Thank you.

C'mon. give Biff Rose a shoutout as he was the inspiration for Hunky Dory. Bowie's cover of "Fill Your Heart" on that album was written by Biff Rose. Too bad Rose is not remembered or appreciated today. He was a very creative and quirky song writer and piano player.

Fascinating selection. Mary Hopkin won one the very first UK TV Weekly Talent Shows- "Opportunity Knocks" with the famous "clap o meter" which was supposed to be a hitch device that measured the audience reaction to each act- it was of course fake! The show was hosted by one of the stereotypical sleazy slimy hosts- Hughie Green- one of his catchphrases was "I mean that most sincerely folks" delivered in a fake American accent. Green was revealed to be the biological father of Paula Yates who was married to Bob Geldof. She was brought up believing her father was TV Exec and presenter of UK ITVs Sunday evening religious show "Stars On Sunday" a wholesome hour of hymns and other religious stuff. He was later exposed as a randy old git who was shagging young women left right and centre- far removed from his religious wholesome family man image and it wrecked his career.
The Bowie catalogue was re-released in 24 bit remastered format in 1999, these discs sound fantastic.

Much as I love Saucerful, Meddle, Animals and their early film soundtrack work, I'll always take Syd's idiosyncratic brand of English whimsy, which never really translated very well in North America, over all of those bloody marching hammers, flying pigs and dry ice.

It's a bit ironic that 80% of the first set of CD moles were are originally released during pure analog times. That wouldn't be surprising for most of us plebian music enthusiasts with tiny collections but it leaves me wondering how many CD "duplicates" you have.
