He’s deserved the credit he was awarded . He built his way up , bloood sweat and tears , he came from straight hard times and still pulled thru . He’s a talented person and the recognition he was awarded was well deserved . Social distortion was the path to where punk went to . He’s not in this for fame , shit he doesn’t even listen to his own music . He does it for us . It comes from the heart. I just saw him in Irving/Dallas Texas . Amazing show . He played every song I screamed . He coulda put down that guitar years ago but 40 years later .. that’s one hell of a run. And he played like a beast at 63 years old . Dudes a legend . Well awarded. Solid dude .
It was very heartfelt and sweet moment for everybody who was there! We felt great for Mike, his family, bans and whole fans! So cool to hear a mayor quoting Social D lyrics! And we felt a shame that in our hometown we have several country famous singers and no any holidays or festivals dedicated to them! Fullerton rules !!!
Congratulations Mike. You deserve the best. Social Distortion has been my favorite band since I was 13. Much love and respect. Happy Birthday icon! Looking forward to seeing you in Vegas. ❤
I am so damn proud to have been a Fullertonian AND a SxDx fan. This was amazing to watch live, and even more meaningful to have happened in the first place. Mike Ness is indeed the coolest cat in the room, and I thank him for it. Happy birthday brother. May you live another 40 years, as you continue telling the story of your life. We love you.
Ok, crying happy tears! What a beautiful heartfelt tribute to the legend himself. Just saw you in Cleveland last week. Thank you for making life better by sharing your gifts with us! Happy belated birthday, (and at least 40 more! 🤘)Big Love to you!
I have been listening since the beginning, and now my son loves Mike & SD, too! We just them together for the 2nd time, and I hope we get a few more. Mike's writing and music were there during all of the hard times throughout my life. It's not an exaggeration to say I got the balls to pull through some dark shit and not end it all because of the words he spoke to me. Forever a fan 🤙✌️❤️🤘
Thanks for sharing this with us all Magnoliasports ... I'm a long way from Fullerton, across the ocean. Come back to the UK when you can Mike! Very nice to see you get this honor, it's well deserved.
Actually I moved from California to Michigan to find a band and get away from the punk Rock seen in Orange county find a good band for myself Problem was they don't know how to play Music that I like But yeah dude I am part of this.. I still have my drum set and everything but it's here in Michigan I haven't been home to Orange County in 10 years.. My tour drum sets in here right now But I'm older now I'm 65 years old no 1's gonna hire a 65-year-old Is drummer guy if I found a band I would play my drums again but like I said nobody knows how to play Original punk Rock Real music here in Michigan..Sometimes I think I never should have moved away because everybody's playing except me.. I've been playing for everybody.. back in the Da 1980..I still talked everybody sometimes..
Great to see recognition to a legend who is still alive and kicking rather than when they are gone, my other hero Stuart Adamson has yet to be honoured
I used to ride big wheels at that park too that was the thing to do.. Because the hills were so steep and grassy.. And it was fast Is hillcrest park.. Actually I Started a band with Brent with original bass player of Social Distortion Brent Lyles..It was called chaotic stature.. But 1 day we were going to practice.. And he was on a little tiny bike and he got hit by a diesel truck.. Going off the freeway killed instantly.. Still play drums once in a while but I can't find any band that's good enough anymore.. Nowadays nobody wants to be original anymore
@@GROCK619 i actually did. I couldnt see anything other than being a musician from the city. I was thinking it was something like contributing to the city, things like volunteering, coaching or teaching children from the community, helping organizations that directly betters the city for its residents in one way or another. Soo many selfless people in the city, they must give a lot of keys out
Mike Ness is a legend in his field of work, inspired thousands and thousands of kids to play guitar or get up on stage themselves. Social D is one of the best selling punk bands of all time. And hes from Fullerton. Why wouldnt they honor him? Also a great role model in the sense that he persevered. Overcame his own demons to make sure his talents were not squandered by drug additiction, but instead would be shared with the world. Dude is a legend. A proper rock star in classic sense. Like Tom Petty and Gainesville FL or Louis Armstrong and New Orleans (who BTW hated New Orleans and almost never came back after leaving as a young man) you honor the legends that were raised in your community. They don't have to have to started a non profit hospital to get their own day or a street named after them.
15 year old me would be happy. But 40 some year old me knows what an UnAmerican turd Ness has become over the years. He stumbled about the early days of hating the police and the city wrapping it up with "surviving". Meh.
58 year old me grew up in the late 70's and 80's punk scene in SoCal and lived through everything Mike references and knows Mike is far more pro-American than you realize.
Thank you so much for the kind words about my old band The Mechanics. Always love for you my old friend.
*RIP Dizzy Danell...the heart and soul of SD.*
Mike deserves every tribute brought his way !! A living legend !! Nothing but respect for him , his family and his band
Ive got tears watching this. Grew up listening to Social D.

All right everybody its time Mike got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!!! Whos with me?

A brand new car and a brand new polka dot shirt -- he even got himself a little wife...
Beautiful.Aw yeah. Thank you for this. The real deal: Mike Ness.
Great to see recognition to a legend who is still alive and kicking rather than when they are gone, my other hero Stuart Adamson has yet to be honoured
Nothing more punk than this
I live in Idaho and go see Social Distortion every chance I get. My son's first concert. Great storyteller. And a Gibson Les Paul
did you ever think you would see the day a mayor would voluntarily honor punk rock?? wow!
This is WILD. Who would've thought back in 1979 Mike would be getting a key to the city . 😂
I have a gig/party flier I guarantee no one has seen. 1983.....I sang for one of the other Bands @ Pappys Anarchy Barn in Chino CA
Happy day🎉
Haters gonna hate & their weakness and fear are obvious.
Congrats Mike. Happy for ya.

I remember Frank Zappa telling me about anti-Tipper Gore activists from Fullerton. Social Distortion rocks!
When did he get hair plugs ? 😅
It’s a wig the cancer treatment caused him to lose his hair
I bet he hates this
Don’t forget “No Doubt”
No Doubt was from Anaheim. Gwen Stefani went to Loara High School.
I'm as big of a SD fan there is, but....key to a city?? lol
Mike's just as surprised, a true tough guy getting this type of recognition is not common. Deserved but not common

Blame Guitar Hero. 😂
I should have went and worn a Trump shirt
I like the one that says "Never Surrender" and it's a picture of Trump's mugshot after he surrendered to authorities.
this is the least punk rock event that ever happened.
Nice Hair transplant.
You won’t have the $ for one 😂 who even cares or says that and zooms in on that . Judgement is for lames weirdo .. you give ME the creeps .
