Then he had to go because someone's there to pick him up I'll never forget that I didn't even know who he was till he was leaving. What a great guy. I was only 16.
Mike, even though he may not enjoy the title, is a punk rock legend to us Orange County kids. I'm glad he's still here and rocking. He branched out and really is a versatile musician. My first punk gig was Social Distortion in 1982 at the T-Bird roller rink. I had found my tribe!

But here's my biggest takeaway: Mike talking about classic-rock listening jocks in '79, '80 "focusing on the different" and not being able to deal, even though punk actually built on the roots of rock 'n' roll. I don't recall any Social Distortion song that I consider hard core punk, but I don't know all their stuff. I have a soft spot for old Bad Religion and Sex pistols but the whole punk rock movement was really stupid.
