Love when they don’t send that unnecessary junk! Hey brands, take that money spent on the junk and upgrade the guitar instead - just like Leo Jaymz! Looks like a decent guitar. Nice graphic! 🇺🇸
I have the older version. The tuners on this one do say Grover, but they only capitalized the G. The tuner buttons are not indented like real Grovers, but these tuners work the same as the real Grovers I have in a Dean ZX. The fret ends on mine were sharp. That's all I had to fix. More of an ESP style because of the sharp horn. Pickups are great. I was able to lower the action without any significant fret buzz. When I got mine they had a lot of graphics to choose from. I don't know if that's still true. From what I could tell, what you got with the "Single Cut Deluxe" versus the "Standard" was the Grover knockoffs. I went for the U. S. Flag. This guitar looks fantastic in person and plays and sounds great.
Last week I got the SG style Leo Jaymz US flag model and the Leo Jaymz US flag Tele style. I bought them just to hang up for decoration. I didn’t expect much from them given the low price. However, they are absolutely playable guitars and an amazing value. I did a little setup on the SG (slight neck and action adjustments) and had to file one fret which was just a tad high. After that, it plays well with no fret buzz. Probably will keep it as is and not play it much as I have several Gibson SG’s already. However, I am going to get a professional setup for the Tele style one and I ordered a set of Tonerider Vintage Plus pickups for it. The stock pups actually sound good, but the neck pickup is very microphonic. Intonation out of the box on the Tele isn’t good but the SG was decent. I don’t think you can go wrong for the money and I highly recommend it. Just be prepared to have some setup work done.
Just from the unplugged demo comparison, that set up made a huge difference after the fretwork. The pickups are about what Vintage Gibson DCR is at +/- 8.0 for neck & bridge. Nice guitar.
I have three Leo Jaymz guitars now, The Monsoon, The Swifter and The Double Cutaway (SG) I got them in that order. The SG in Electric Blue I got for $70.00 thru TEMU and I wasn't expecting much but it really surprised me out of the box. I figure it was one of his first guitars he made/sold. I was expecting the typical affordable guitar quality but it was much better than expected! It is better than all three Firefly guitars I own. The intonation was spot on the neck did need a little tweaking the frets on mine seem to be all level, no fret sprout etc. Sounds and plays great I tried to find a flaw but they did a good job on this one. I plan on grabbing an LP copy but really want to get my hands on a Tempest the one with the resin and wood top!
@johnro6659 LPs were the first Leo Jaymz guitars. I got the one he reviewed today about 2 years ago. Love it. I've tried collecting the USA Flag guitars since. Got the strat style with the USA amp that came with it, and bought a Leo Jaymz roasted maple and stainless steel fretted neck on Amazon for about $75 and had it put on. I've had the SG and Tele versions in my cart for a while now, 😆, just haven't pulled the trigger yet. I have 3 of their LPs, an original green Tempest (had a yellow one but gave it away), and the strat. I've always gotten good stuff from Leo.
Your comical facial expressions are priceless Sean, great video and guitar review, loving the fretboard dark colour and steel frets and everything else (bar the diddy pots)It says online that the fingerboard is ebony !!!
AWESOME! This was my FIRST Leo Jaymz purchase a couple of years ago! Physically the guitar is identical! One thing I absolutely LOVE about the Leo Jaymz difference in the LP body style is the sharp edge on the tip of the cut. I think on one of the more recent red LPs they didn't have that. Glad to see it return! Also, if you DIDN'T get a ringer (the Amazon label looks nothing like any I've seen before, and I order a LOT of Amazon and deliver them through FedEx as well), then they HAVE upgraded the pickups! Mine, and those of earlier reviewers, were VERY microphonic and NOT wax potted! Another shocker, and I'm going to have to test mine now, is... DID YOU SAY STAINLESS STEEL FRETS???? Mine were initially gritty, but it went away with a little playing. I'm buying a NEW one if thar is TRUE!!!! 😂 The edition I got actually DID have Grover tuners, and DiAddario strings! Seriously, even with my microphonic pickups, I love that guitar and it's one of my must play a LOT guitars! I even bought pickups to replace those... but haven't been able to bring myself to do it! Great review, as always!
Just ordered mine last night. Should be in tomorrow. Hoping right out of the box it does pretty well, or I'll have to take it to a buddy. Stoked either way! Thanks for the review.
Hey sean and Cathy can I say thank you. I have been watching your videos for about a yr and I have learned so much. I'm a rookie kit guitar builder and I'm finally done with my first LP style and I absolutely love it. It sounds great and it's very easy and comfortable to play
Hey! I think you are a great guitarist, and you can sing like crazy, I can’t believe you’ve not been a touring musician, but I’m sure glad your making these videos, because now I can make a guitar play good, I never thought I could do a setup. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and your music.
Just came across your channel man. I like how you dont hold any punches and tell it like it is. With so many guitars out there people need to know whats up, and whats not.
I wonder if the “J” stamp would stand for “Jazz”? The “N” might stand for “Neck” as many import style pickups have neck pickups in the 8.5k range. Bridge pickups are usually 10k-12k range. But I could be a bit off… 😂
Love your Review, and almost makes me want to go buy one of these, but I LOVE that charcoal burst Les Paul hanging on the wall, but the truth is, on Social Security I can't even afford the Leo Jaymz. Keep rocking, and Keep SCARRING!
I just love your channel that's pretty cool guitar , those buckers sound sweet , are they ceramic voiced PAF's ? 189 for the guitar 100 bucks plus for a decent setup , what kid starting out would not love that guitar,
Thanks for reviewing this guitar. Always wondered about these. I’m retired and I got bored, so I bought a Les Paul DIY kit from Solo Guitars after Darrell Braun recommended them. It was finished beautifully already and it’s an absolute killer guitar for the price. Everything went together easily , except the wiring directions were kinda wonky and their screws weren’t explained or diagrammed, but I got it. No setup. Just went together perfectly. Low action. Good pickups. Tuners might need a swap out but all in all a great guitar. Love your videos Sean. Thanks so much, Randy.
i have the see thru red one they dont sell anymore. there ok. the neck is nice but i have the bridge as low as it goes. its ok for now but i dont like that. ive had alot of pickups tried out in it. the emg 85 is by far my favorite sounding in it so far. the 81 just had a weird sound cus the mahogany, does the same with my explorer but i use dual 81s in my explorer and deal with the sound for the litte extra output and compression. diffrences i noticed from mine to yours. mines a couple years old now.. mine had branded tuners, fake im assuming. mine has a crappyer 3 way switch. same pots so far thats all ive seen. my frets were pretty good and had super low action when i got it but the frets were really scratchy and rough at first. also a little poky on the ends. i really like how dark the fretboards are on these. i plan to get the flat black one someday cus i just want a black lp. i may try to get an ltd tho
I got a Leo Jayymz used at a trusted local music store. The previous owner put in dual single coils at the bridge and neck. It's my favorite guitar that I've ever had. Great sustain, and the tone doesn't choke out when playing chords closer to the bridge like many other guitars. Great sustain on it. It's nice and quiet when not being played, but has great output. I paid a bit more because of WHO I was buying it from, and boy was it worth it. It's a NICE guitar! I mean NOICE!
I have 2 Leo Jaymz, an SG AND a TL. They both are amazingly well built, sound superb and came intonated!! How they make any money is a mystery to me. Really appreciate your videos excellency is the rule!
3 minutes and 28 views but only 9 thumbs up. Hit the thumbs up for this good man... Every time. Keep up the videos. I dig watching ya, but could you play music or something when you're scraping the fretboard... Sounds like nails on chalkboard.
How can you go wrong for under 200 with minimal setup, of course, most people don’t know how to level the frets and set up like you! Nice sounding, looking guitar. Great playing by your buddy I just subscribed to his channel. Great honest review and I’d buy it in a heart beat, for that price. I was very impressed with the tightness of the bridge and the tailpiece. Clean guitar!!!
Subscriber here. Really enjoy and appreciate your videos. Even though I have some Gibsons, I love the budget styles and own multiples. I like your honesty and appreciation for them as well
Hi guys, quick question,on all the guitars that i get to set up i have to file the nut to get a perfect set up, i never see you do this on your set ups, some of the nuts on these low end guitars are like blocks of cheese . Great channel & i love your range of guitars you've recently launched 👍
I have that guitar & I put in some Alnico 5 pickups & blacked it out & set it up nicely. It plays & sounds like my Gibson Studio Les Paul. I'm very happy with it. I have around $300 into it & it's a very nice playing & sounds pretty awesome cheap guitar.
I bought this very same flag guitar a couple years ago for a 4th of July gig. At $200 I really was expecting to be junk but, just a cool novelty for the gig. However, I was amazed at how great it felt and played! And right out of the box! The stock pickups sound great as well. Only cosmetic issue was some buffing marks left behind, simple enough to polish out. The hardware? Eh... One volume pot would just keep spinning round without stopping at zero, lol. And a couple intonation screws seemed stripped, like soft metal. But, I played it for the gig no problem. For only 200 bucks, I don't mind replacing the pots and and bridge to have a decent playable guitar. It's a keeper! 🤟
One thing I noticed as I was going through your videos - you haven't done a teardown and test on a Yamaha guitar yet. You should, as they're probably one of the best budget electrics out there. I just lucked into one at my local Value Village for $200 CDN (approx. 144.50 US) and it is a killer value. It's a Pacifica PAC212VFM in Honey Amber (matching headstock) . Flame maple finish (body is alder), the tuners work great, the pickups are nicely voiced. I believe they retail for $399 US, which is in Squier Classic Vibe territory. I would liken it to a good made in Mexico Strat quality wise. Maybe even better.
I have the left handed version. Mine has Grover labeled tuners and hotter pickups (13.5Kohms). And mine has the back bound as well with 5 ply binding all around. Whoever wired it wasn't having a great day tho. Volume pot for the bridge PU doesn't works like a tone pot. Great guitar for the money regardless.
Thanks for doing these videos! I’m trying to decide between the Grote LP and this LP for a guitar to get and then upgrade the parts a bit. Which do you think was the better “bones” to work with? Thanks!
You’ve tested a lot of guitars on the channel. Between the Leo Jaymz and the Grote LP, which do you recommend? Also, do you have plans to checkout the IYV PRS copy?
Nice Paul I have a cheap Epiphone I did about same work less the block inlay and hotter pickups tusq nut better tuners super Polish frets plays awesome
Big sound! Deep and full body 😍 Especially after just listening to that SG you did the other day.. that sounded crispy clear wide sounding that filled the room…. Sorry looks like you got company 🏃♂️
Im thinking about getting one, american company, made in china (but so is epiphone so who really cares), bull bone nut, stainless steel frets, seems like a steal
I have one in like a tobacco burst. It's nothing like my epiphone les Paul of course, but its pretty good. Just had to adjust the action and truss rod. plays well
I bought one of those guitars a couple of years ago. It's a left hand model, really nice, good quality. Only exception is that the flag is upsidedown 😮🙃
I bought the SG model in white, and haven't altered it in any way. I'll tell you, for $120.00 (U.S.) it' s a mighty fine guitar. If you're an SG fan, but don't want to break the bank, get yourself a Leo Jaymz. (The Les Paul featured in this video seems rather nice, as well, but I'll wait until they make one with P-90 pickups before I get that model)
This or the the $120 amazon fender squire debut for a beginner? Looks like I'd probably have to pay for a setup on the Leo Jaymz, but it sounds better?
The Fender needs a setup too. Watch my video on it. The leo Jaymz is actually a quality guitar as the squire is a cheap throw together money grab guitar that sucks.
@@scarmyguitar Thanks for the input! I did watch your video on the Fender squire debut and the difference in sound is very significant. You were actually surprised at how the Squire Debut was set up out of the box

Already have! When you gonna get some more axes on the Ebay site?
That was a sweet guitar. Thanks for not being too mad at me breaking in your house lol 😂
Love when they don’t send that unnecessary junk! Hey brands, take that money spent on the junk and upgrade the guitar instead - just like Leo Jaymz!
Looks like a decent guitar. Nice graphic! 🇺🇸
That looked like a lot of fun to make! Nice review Sean, Cathy and Trey.
Thanks!
You bet!
I've had mine since last year. Very impressed with it. I play bass but I had one our guitarists in my band play it for a few songs around 4th of July.
This may be my favorite setup tutorial of all time.
"Don't be hatin" "I know you can't believe what ya seein".
I have the older version. The tuners on this one do say Grover, but they only capitalized the G. Same on mine. "Grover" tuners, one sharp fret end tho. But the acton was perfect on mine. Neck flat and straight.
Last week I got the SG style Leo Jaymz US flag model and the Leo Jaymz US flag Tele style. I bought them just to hang up for decoration. I didn’t expect much from them given the low price. Once you got the buzz out of the neck it sounded great -I need my guitars Scarred and Trey rips !!
Is always nice to see Tray in your videos
As Always Have a Great Week & Sean, Cathy, & Everyone Scarred ...

I don’t know much about how much money someone can make on you tube, but I sure as hell hope you do good. Very good at what you do 🇺🇸🎸💪
That was a pretty good review . Nice comedic touch at the end.

Full guitar collection video would be cool
Just ordered mine last night. Should be in tomorrow. Hoping right out of the box it does pretty well, or I'll have to take it to a buddy. Stoked either way! Thanks for the review.
I've bought several LJ guitars for people who want to learn how to play, they are easy to get right for very little money and they look great to..
Hey sean and Cathy can I say thank you. I have been watching your videos for about a yr and I have learned so much. I'm a rookie kit guitar builder and I'm finally done with my first LP style and I absolutely love it. It sounds great and it's very easy and comfortable to play

Would be a great axe for 4th of July, Memorial or Veteran's day gigs.
I’d put a set of Cathy’s Humbuckers in that baby. Current pickups are a little bit muddy.
I wonder if the “J” stamp would stand for “Jazz”?
The “N” might stand for “Neck” as many import style pickups have neck pickups in the 8.5k range. Bridge pickups are usually 10k-12k range.

Great jam guys!!
Companies need HONEST feedback to grow and improve.
WoW that's a cool little axe. great price to. But I got to say that play demo was awesome boy's. love it. take care from Helcat in Australia.
Keep rockin brother.. always worth the wait 🤘

Good video! I think that after your setup it is probably better than most LP's Gibson is selling these days.

Hit the thumbs up for this good man... Every time.
Keep up the videos. I dig watching ya, but could you play music or something when you're scraping the fretboard... Sounds like nails on chalkboard.
If you used a bigger knife to open the box you wouldn't warp the frets and have to do a fret job on it. Just for future reference.
How can you go wrong for under 200 with minimal setup, of course, most people don’t know how to level the frets and set up like you! Nice sounding, looking guitar. I appreciate the feedback man you rock
Ive got the Jaymz cherry burst LP copy and I like it, a lot. The usual set up, intonation, etc, and it plays great!
i never knew the flag had a wood grain look to it. that makes it actually pretty cool cus i thought it was corny at first
Hi guys, quick question,on all the guitars that i get to set up i have to file the nut to get a perfect set up, i never see you do this on your set ups, some of the nuts on these low end guitars are like blocks of cheese .

Love the Thanksgiving turkey slicer fret crowner! An obvious accessory for anyone who does as many as you do.
Nice video-enjoyed the jam !
good job guys - nice guitar sounds just fine!

For only 200 bucks, I don't mind replacing the pots and and bridge to have a decent playable guitar. It's a keeper! 🤟
Trey saves the day!
Don't know anything bout the ready to play Loe Jaymz gear, but I've put a couple of their DIY Kits together, a LP and a SG. Now their cheap but good,
Nice video. Y'all made that guitar sound great!
Good show chief. I really enjoy the content and you crack me up as a bonus! Take care.
I’m a lefty and that is the only Leo James I can find in the Les Paul is that American flag I passed Leo James
Putting out great videos and great music!
Dude i have this in my amazon cart right now! Was debating between this of the sg flag one or a kit to make my own. 😅
When you see how they did that skull is pretty cool
Can you do a guitar with built in air cooler it's so hot in the UK man
Sean that was an awesome Jam man killer little guitar for $189 bucks and I love the American flag
Thanks for doing these videos! I’m trying to decide between the Grote LP and this LP for a guitar to get and then upgrade the parts a bit. Which do you think was the better “bones” to work with? Thanks!
Leo Jaymz all day
Thanks for the reply! I appreciate it!
I've got the rainbow graphic version. Love it, man. Feels like any LP I have ever played. Ya can't beat a mahogany body LP.
Wow !!! Does that come left handed also ? If so, Where can I get it?....Very nice !!!
Your custom made guitar sure is pretty
I consider 7.61lbs pretty light for a Les Paul
Got to admit - Lovin the flag! 🇺🇸
You’ve tested a lot of guitars on the channel. Between the Leo Jaymz and the Grote LP, which do you recommend? Also, do you have plans to checkout the IYV PRS copy?
think he did look at the iyv prs copy a long while ago
Nice Paul I have a cheap Epiphone I did about same work less the block inlay and hotter pickups tusq nut better tuners super Polish frets plays awesome
Big sound! Deep and full body 😍
Especially after just listening to that SG you did the other day.. that sounded crispy clear wide sounding that filled the room…. Sorry looks like you got company 🏃♂️
That was an enjoyable video!
Great review! Been a while since I watched your channel. Really good.
I thought that Leo had some of those lp’s with real Grover’s
These things are pretty on par with Gibson for the price
279.00 in Canada Amazon. Should I place my order ? Ony 3 left honey burst and 2 Black.
That is a beautiful guitar
Im thinking about getting one, american company, made in china (but so is epiphone so who really cares), bull bone nut, stainless steel frets, seems like a steal
There’s a camera behind the toggle switch😂
I have one in like a tobacco burst. It's nothing like my epiphone les Paul of course, but its pretty good. Just had to adjust the action and truss rod. plays well
That fret Sawzall made my coffee fly out of my face
Each
That guitar sounds great all dressed up in the American flag how great it that
As usual, fine job Sean
I bought one of those guitars a couple of years ago. It's a left hand model, really nice, good quality. Only exception is that the flag is upsidedown 😮🙃
Like this one I'm a vet so I love my flag
way to go guys😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄
I just picked up one of these guitars. Just one question for you...why you use such a small knife to open the box? 😂
$189 is great for that guitar.
I got the same one and it is absolutely beast🔥🔥
I love your videos. Please review the firefly blue burst fftl Tele. Thanks
I want some sound tracks like that
If got red white and blue what other color could it be
I keep watching same ones over and over but learn something Everytime new. I missed.
