You're a life save mate! I've been flying the Mavic Air for about 18months now. No issues at all... until today. I had an ‘Aircraft disconnected’ warning, followed by complete loss of control. Unbelievable. I managed to press RTH and it sort of came partly way back and hovered about 10ft off the ground. I had to wait until the batts completely drained and then catch it in my T-shirt when it fell from the sky. Tech does fail and it will fail. I had no idea that you could utilise the big USB port at the bottom of the RC. I was skeptical of that flimsy USB cable that was supplied right from the start... now I know why. Good work my man. Have just ordered one of these from one of your links.

Thank you so much for the video! I can't believe I forgot about that port at the bottom of the controller... I used to have no problems using the microusb cable and connecting to the side, but then I upgraded my phone. The new phone uses USB-C and the cable they included just kept disconnecting constantly, you had to wiggle it to make it work, stuff like that. Unfortunately I have ordered a replacement side cable from DJI, which I now see I didn't have to...
Just tried a regular USB-A to USB-C as in the video, and it worked great.

Having had a heart stopping moment this morning with my Mavic Air which disconnected and landed itself. Fortunately, it was only about 600 feet away, landed on flat ground and I was able to use the map feature to walk towards it. Your reasoning on that connector is right on the money I reckon. I will be using a quality connector from the A port to my phone in future. Thank you.

Will getting a new cable of the same kind from DJI fix it or do I have to buy a new micro-usb to a lighting, because the Mavic mini does not have a USB port on the bottom? Thanks!

  •  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I did change my cable and it helped with part of the problems. I Love my MA, but am SO insecure with the connection problems I get every now and then. No matter how updated my drone and controller are, sometimes I fly with no problems, sometime I almost lose the drone with lost connection! Really frustrating! And I see that so often on the internet, makes me even more insecure!

I honestly wish this solved all the Air problems and i truly believe that owners are in denial as this drone is amazing but half finished. you spend more time worrying if this is the day you loose it forever than actually enjoying the flight. I returned mine after a week as the wifi connection is so bad and no tweaking or cable will solve this. Other than mounting 6ft antennas to the controller which seems to currently be a booming business as the demand is high. I actually returned my Air under false advertising and purchased the spark. The spark is a drone with low expectations, same flight connection issues but satisfying results and if the day comes when i wave goodbye to a non returning drone it wouldn't bother me as much as ebay is littered with sparks for next to nothing. If your reading this it's probably to late but if your still to purchase your first drone then consider a used Mavic pro or Phantom 3 as the range is amazing and the flight experience is 10 times better than the Air.

@@Rich.. is your issue the connection? If so, grab this cable and give it a go. For me it solved all my issues and I loved the Mavic air again.

@@maritimefilminguk yeah that's it mate. It isn't as bad as alot of people I've read up on but, it just won't seem to go past that 500m mark without dropping out. Extremely frustrating as it goes into return home mode and then then I lose track out the drone completely.

I use the side connector. No issues at all.

Not the cable. I've used 4 different new cables same issue.best way to avoid this from happening is not to buy the problem....

Have you been using the USB A cable or micro USB port on the side? This solved all my issues
