Thanks for all your hard work in investigating this issue. It seems wildly complicated!
It is pretty complicated and this video is just the tip of the iceberg.
So it seems what is required is a way to hard mount the camera but isolate it from vibrations. Hopefully frame designers will learn from this video and make the appropriate adjustments. Thanks for your research into this issue and valuable findings.
Thank you for all the work you're putting into trouble shooting this issue. 👍😎
No problem, I'm glad people are interested.
I’ve also experienced those same vibration / jello issues. You’re right, ND filters in conjunction with soft mounting helps the most to eliminate jello. I did get an official reply from DJI this morning to check PWM and do further test. I’ll quote their reply down below.
“We highly prioritize the issue you have reported. After confirmation, we recommend visiting section 4.7 'EIS Usage Notice' in the fourth part 'Usage' of the DJI O4 Air Unit product manual”.
EIS is the built in stabilizer, I don’t think it would help here, since it won’t record motion data if EIS is turned on
As I mentioned in the video, I'm already on 48khz on these ESCs before I posted these videos.
I also did a lot of tests here and saw that with a lot of light the jelly was present. The best solution so far for me was to use an ND filter.
Yeah, I'd say we need to find the correct amount of soft mounting, Albert.
I really don't like the idea of the rubber bands... Because it's too easy to get too many variations between batches, you know? And there's also the question of how much vibrations the quad has and so on...
Anyway, thanks for all the info! 😊
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
What is your favourite of the o4 drones you've reviewed so far?
The Meteor65 Pro O4. However, I expect this to change as more models come out.
Has betafpv responded officially yet to all the jello reports?
I also am thinking it might have to do with frame stiffness and also size/resonance. The betapfv canopy seems to perform better the smaller you go, its flawless on the m65, almost perfect on the m75 but when I tried it on multiple 85mm 2s whoops and it was performing worse than my stiffer 3d printed canopy suprisingly.
Yep, this is what I also found and also mentioned in this video and the first one. I would only use that setup on small whoops without a lot of aggressive flying. The rubber dampeners are too soft for aggressive moves and I believe are the source of the vibrations seen in the video footage.
Did you try changing the ESC PWM to 48kHz?...Sorry I couldn't help myself 😂 thanks for all the suggestions!
OMG
My meteor 75 pro bnf has Jello, changing frequency doesnt help 😢
Think dji should be working this out! But great dedication!
I wonder if we're missing the obvious. Either there are bad batches or the sensitivity is too high (prioritizing picture)...
This is strange - I have bother 75Pro and the femto and zero jello. Have t had to do any of these fixes. Just make sure the camera cable is not restricted or touching the frame.
You're one of the lucky ones. Count your blessings bro.
One question, I'm a newbie and I would like to know the difference between putting the 24/48/96 ESCs, is there any loss of power or something? What's the point of changing them, thank you
@@TheDavid76 96khz for whoops. 48khz for everything else.
Higher khz is more efficient. But probably you wont even notice it.
Lower KHZ gives the motors more torque. Just trust me with 48khz.
@@chrisbee5481 okay, thanks for the explanation bro
Did you and others actually do the firmware upgrade after activating to O4?
After activation it's not on the newest firmware from what I saw. It only showed one firmware, but it said upgrade and not refresh. So I upgraded it
I'm on the latest firmware. That is NOT the issue for me.
Im having issues with o4 pro as well, currently have one in a GepRC cinequeen. Hardmounted the fpv feed is perfect but gyro data is unusable, i made and printed a tpu mount and ditched the alloy one and the feed is still good but still getting some noise in the gyro data(basically the same as your last flight), it's almost perfect but the outside edges of the footage are shaky after stabilisation and smooth in centre. Going to try and add some gummies or o rings between the camera mounting screws (also haven't checked the pwm frequency)
Hi kim, wta, does the gyro data came from the camera, or the vtx board?
camera
From the camera sensor board. You can see the gyro chip on the back top near the connector. That's why the camera needs to be vibration isolated. The air unit board has no gyro on it so it doesn't need vibration isolation.
@@marblekitfpv nice info thanks! Now i dont have to worry about how to mount the vtx 😄
@@zombietoesofnothing2381 thanks bro
Since the O3 I have the suspicion that the Camera Cable plays a quite big role here. If that Cable vibrates or acts like kind of a "Spring" it does not matter how you mount the cam in the end. Usually by rearranging the cable I get better results.
Yes, I have mentioned that in Part 1
Hi Albert, with your GEPRC T-Cube18 2S no jello bro, so betafpv mount no good.
The baffling thing is that I've seen a number of reviews where the footage looked great but I was only able to get that when it was on the Meteor65 Pro. So I think the rubber dampeners are tuned for smaller whoops and not the bigger micros.
I’m releasing a video in the next day or so dealing with jello on the Pavo femto. It’s not ideal at all. But I suspended the camera cable in air it’s outside of the frame and it’s not touching anything. It’s just hanging out the top. That seemed to fix my issues with jello.
This is what I suspect the cause of peoples issues are. The cable on my Femto was even pushing the camera so much that the camera was not even level! I made sure the cable was as loose as possible and not touching anything else and I now have a level camera and no jello. ( I say no jello , but I personally hate over stabilised video , so I have any stabilisation set to low as possible or none at all ).
I've done that to the camera cable on my Femto but I still get the vibrations. This is very frustrating.
Personally I use 48khz on every build from 45mm props upwards. Works great
I have a pavo pico that I put on a piratframe gems 2 inch frame, using the same 45mm props and the new o4 lite, I have some problems with jello and I have change all the esc config and still some jello, then i mod the camera mount and add some floating method and still some jello. I did my PID and are all good, then I ask some tinny whoop pilots what can be. I one of them give me the solution that not other pilot have not. the problem for me was TPA values. If you guys will like me to post a video about it. show mw some love and I will do a video about it. How this get to all the people that have this issue.
What about these TPA values?
What is TPA?
@@Eat_More_Possum TPA applies a PID value reduction in relation to full throttle. It is used to apply dampening of PID values as full throttle is reached. TPA = % of dampening that will occur at full throttle. tpa_breakpoint = the point in the throttle curve at which TPA will begin to be applied.
@ in my case 30% and 1750 tpa_breakpoint .work just fine. no more jello on my footage sinec that. 1002 14000kv motor 2 inch bi props 39 grams no batt.
