- I had the same issue when I got the Mavic Pro so I tried using the same method and it worked! DJI please make setting up your drones easier as it's frustrating especially when we just want to FLY!!!
Now I'm ready to try this new little beast out.

Thank you! Your's is the first video that actually showed us how to overcome the ridiculous issue relating to connecting our phone to the remote controller thanks to using a USB cable. Yes we agree DJI really need to address this issue. We experienced exactly this problem today, 4/4/21

For those like me where this doesn't work: debug usb on your phone and it should be ok. This video is a lifesaver. Had my mavic 2 pro for years and all of a sudden during our Switzerland trip it didn't want to work anymore. Happy I can fly again!
This was really helpful, went out this afternoon for a train picture, had issues with the side cable for the past week, had to fly back blind with the device not connected, I will 1000% use this instead.
Important that remote and drone have the same exact firmware update or they won’t connect . Both need to be updated separately it seemed to me
Absolutely brilliant I have been trying to link the original controller after using the RC pro with screen. Everything I tried failed miserably and I was wondering if somehow the drone was broke. Your method worked straight away !! DJI need to sort out these issues they are charging premium prices for premium products and such a simple issue that we are experiencing here should not be happening. Thank you so much !!
Big help! I was having firmware updating messages (even though it was current in the assistant 2 program) and phone wouldn't connect to aircraft. Tried this already but did it wrong. I always buzz through things and don't pay enough attention. You put me on the right path. All is good now thanks to your video! Thanks a lot!
Thank you so much for this!! I have no idea why, but my phone suddenly stopped supporting that side socket. I thought my controller was dead, but this fixed it. I had almost got there, but I did not think to remove the side socket as well. You've saved me a load of hassle.
Thank you so much!!! I was having the same issue with my LG V30 phone not keeping a consistent connection with the remote with the side USB C cable. The bottom connector worked perfectly after completely disconnecting the side cable from the remote. This makes sense because the remote probably allocates power to only one usb port at a time and connecting two doesn't make the bottom connector work. God bless. I'm happy with my purchase now.
My Mavic 2 pro countless keep having this error and luckily with your tips the error stop prompt. DJI should fix this issue ASAP.

Not sure if you know the answer to this but I have now been trying to set up my drone for four straight days. After several issues and fixes for them (like your video), I have now discovered that my phone is the problem. The standard USB option is set to "charge". Everytime I try to change that, it resets after a few seconds. I tried it with the option "USB debugging" on and off but it keeps on resetting. Do you have any idea at all how I could fix this?

You are a life saver. Many thanks it seems to be a common issue. Once it's connected can we use the small cable on the side of the remote? You got a sub too👍
You can as long as you've confirmed remote has connected with the phone. On Android it comes up with that small window for files, photos or just charge.

Awesome info! I wish I would've found this last week, it would've saved a lot of time and frustration and hunting for and buying the cables for the top side of the remote. Ahh well, better late than never! lol. I have to cancel and return some cables now. LOL!

I had this issue at shoot recently and it massively threw me! Thanks for the video it saved my bacon. So is the side socket just not an option now then? seems like the charge cable is the only way i can connect my phone to the controller now! 🤬

Once the drone and the remote are paired to the phone, do I need the ridiculous small USB-c and the microUSB cable connected ?

Hey thank you , DJI hasn't figured out that not all mini USB cables are not the same . They may look the same but some wont read the data stream or can tell which is a jpeg file or audio file. I changed thier funky side short cable with another and now the phone talks to the joy stick controller . I would not have know that but for your video , changed the mini usb cable and it seems to be working now. Thanks .
So why would it work connecting the phone with that USB A port only and not the other USB port on the side? What would be preventing that from working? Thanks.
Mr Gadget, need your help and need it quickly. I recently purchased a Mavic2Pro and immediately after the initial firmware upgrade my controller has frozen and is continuously displaying 'Connecting'. I switched to the DJI Assistant 2 from where I tried to upgrade the M2P as well as the Controller. While I was succesful on the aircraft but the upgrade fails every time at 26%. I have tried re-linking the controller using the technique you have given in the video but my 'link to aircraft' button on Step 3 of the DGIGO4 App remains grayed out. Can you please advise. Thx
Sorry Reza don't have immediate solution. Will check out but head towards your DJI service centre or chat with them online. Theyre pretty good
Exactly same issue for me... Stuck to 26%...
Arnaud DE PERETTI I contacted DJI’s online support and after exchanging tons of messages over a period of a few days, they asked me to have the unit replaced from where I had bought it. That solved my problem. Sorry for not being able to give you a more favourable response.

I have Mavic 2 Zoom but I have an issue with it, when I turn it on it doesn't blink yellow or any colors when I connect it to my computer it also wont respond. You got any ideas how to solve this?

Than you Mr. Gadget. 4 your advice. My small USB-C cable from dji loss connection a lot.. After your trick your small USBC cable works? or you always fly with normal chargin USBC cable?
Yes, it works fine with small DJI USBC cable. I have answered myself in this evening test. :)

Can anyone tell me why I don't get a map displayed on my 'monitor'? I toggle back and forth between map and live view. But, where the map should be, there's only a blank screen.

Now I can connect my Mavic 2 Zoom back to my phone. Previously it cannot connect to the drone.
But, I still have concern. The light on your drone changed to green after connected, while I still get yellow even when it said connected.

I wish this worked for me. I'm struggling. The cable swap made no difference. I get to step three of the activation setup and the "link to aircraft" button is greyed out. It never turns blue so I can't activate the connection. This happened after I updated the RC and aircraft software. Any thoughts?

@@nicolemuller8391 I ended up having to get DJI to send me a new controller. And I'm about to have to do it again because the new controller has the same problem. I think it might be the micro-USB port they use. It's not a standard port. It's their own design, but works with micro-USB. I just think it's a poor design and is prone to deformation, causing the connection to be loose. I'm no engineer, but since wiggling the cable helps sometimes and the connection feels loose, that's my diagnosis. ;) DJI won't comment. Oh, and you may already know this, but the cable is only supposed to go in one way and it's really tough to tell which way. This didn’t work for me, but rebooting my iPhone did the trick.
Is this technique to be used only on the initial connect of the drone? Or do you recommend continuing to use the USB cable for all usage? I do have connect problems about every other time that I turn on the drone and the controller with my android cell phone.
