For obvious reasons, they want viewership. The majority of the playerbase is in the EU and I'd argue at least 3 of the top 4 teams are currently EU ones as well. If the tournament was NA only, most of EU wouldn't care to watch and less of NA might be interested too as the level of competition would be lower.
The player that just insulted the TO and left Discord should immediatly change game if he want to go competitive, he will not stay a single week in the competitive scene when Valve put their hands on Deadlock Esport. You do not want to mess with Valve cause they will erase you faster than 2GD.

The real problem here was the system for rating servers makes zero sense. If you are going to rate how willing you are to play on a server you NEED to know where the team you are playing against is located. ie NA might be willing to play a UK server if your opponents are Russian, but not if your opponents are from the UK. (Especially if it's NA West) The tournament organizer should've manually gone through and decided on what were the servers for any and all match-ups instead of trying to automate it poorly. NA not understanding Geography is an odd joke considering both the UK and Spain are roughly the same distance from New York. The real reason there's a big latency difference is that most transatlantic undersea cables are connected to the UK. Which isn't common knowledge if you live in NA because why would you ever need to know that. 3:33 You can even see the EU team thought Spain would be better for NA. 4:32 Seagull is mocking the guy for saying they were saving time? It's 29K souls to 17K, the game is well and truly over. 6:18 Edu is misrepresenting this based on what KP types in discord 8:10 Leaving is bad sportsmanship? But the players also are trying to make a name for themselves in a new and growing scene. And getting absolutely stomped hurts their personal brands and reputation as good players.
Clearly they messed up the form and there was some kind of miscommunication with the TOs that will probably go unanswered, but quitting at 5 min, insulting the TOs, and then leaving the call is so cowardly. Any sane team in any competitive game would just ask for a rehost.

To be fair the TO should have questioned the choices of 5 across all terrible servers for NA. If your going to act like a sanctioning body, then do so. Changing rules mid tournament, then getting mad because a team leaves pretty dumb ngl.
I agree that it should not have been a problem for the team, and that is the TO’s fault because the team told them this. It is also the nature of making things awesome to reflect and ask oneself what could WE have done better in case this happens again? Do we want to give them another chance to fix it? high ping in gunfights feels particularly bad and borderline unplayable in this game, overwatch and almost every other game feels so much better on 180+ ping but you cant even control wraith cards on 180. Might just be poorly optimised net code bc its still early development

Obviously they should read, but you guys, that's awful survey design. It's extremely commonplace for a 1-5 RATING to be 5 being best. In a forced ranking, 1 is best. Surveys, at least in the US, almost always follow this structure so as to not confuse the people taking the survey and getting bad results.

This was an all-regions tournament, not NA, and the rules were known beforehand. First of all, Hydranation disregarded the form about servers, filling out all EU servers as the same priority (while, in fact, England was better for them). Then, they could pause and ask for England instead (Lystic said he was ok with that), but the problem was they only wanted to change server while already losing hard (and did not want to admit defeat there, just wanted a repeat of game 2). Instead of going to game 3 they ff-d. Very childish behavior, I agree it was bad sportsmanship.

Obviously they should read, but you guys, that's awful survey design. It's extremely commonplace for a 1-5 RATING to be 5 being best. In a forced ranking, 1 is best. Surveys, at least in the US, almost always follow this structure so as to not confuse the people taking the survey and getting bad results.
the managment is from north america, so US people basically made the survey.

This was an all-regions tournament, not NA, and the rules were known beforehand. First of all, Hydranation disregarded the form about servers, filling out all EU servers as the same priority (while, in fact, England was better for them). Then, they could pause and ask for England instead (Lystic said he was ok with that), but the problem was they only wanted to change server while already losing hard (and did not want to admit defeat there, just wanted a repeat of game 2). Instead of going to game 3 they ff-d. Very childish behavior, I agree it was bad sportsmanship.
Throwing a temper tantrum is pathetic, they agreed to play on certain servers before the matches...

They get less money for bad placement and if they're cool with that then who cares and someone else gets payed more and a better placement/free win. Players aren't obligated to play in something they feel is unfair. leaving is understandable but I can agree it can be distateful.
Also, the only reason TO's were mad is because it fucks up the tournament's pacing and views BCS wtf do u do in this random ass down time. Which is fair to be angry about. But... when a team claims they tried to communicate and instead of actually helping you pick the worst option out of the two ur at fault as well.
