2:12 The Et Tu mod for FO1 isn't really buggy/outdated and can be a great experience for everyone. 3:05 Restoration Project is outdated, using Restoration Project Updated is recommended.
What I would highly recommend is FO2tweaks. It adds much needed quality of life improvements. Like enhanced highlighting, being able to access the map anywhere, and opening unlocked doors automatically. It also lets you fix the issue of companion leveling. Since they only have a chance to level while in your party, companions you can only pick up later in the game, will always suck a bit compared to Sulik. My favorite is the ability to limit knockback on melee weapons. Making melee characters much more viable, because you don't have to waste all your action points running after enemies sliding all over the map. Everything is optional and customizable. So yeah, Restoration Project + FO2tweaks is my preferred Fallout 2 experience. Small comment on the video: Fallout 2 vanilla does have a few talking heads. Just not a lot of them.

Hello there! Well I'll be quite honest my first playthrough was with these mods and had a wonderful time. I tried to curate mods that are a step above the vanilla.but never in any way deviating from the developers methods and play styles. It restored content that was missing all the while refining the gameplay. For me I have no reason to go back on FO2 without mods. And I just finished it completely. Wonderful game

I highly recommend Fallout Fixt for Fallout 1. From my experience, it heavily improves the many bugs in the game, and although it can crash a lot, it is offset by save scumming. Honestly, if you don’t want Fallout Fixt, I would recommend downloading an ending patch and call it a day. All that matters is to make sure the endings don’t bug out. In the original, the endings for the Followers and the Hub are broken so make sure to get a patch for that.

Also also Fallout 1 and 2 are quite superior to Fallout 3 and 4 as to play Fallout in 3D felt weird initially if one comes from the Fallout 1 and 2 age of gamer. Same reason if they would do a remake I just hope they keep to isometric.
I wouldn't say they are better but very different titles. 1 and 2 focus in story and well developed characters, however the gameplay has not aged well and is pretty archaic. Inventory management is such a mess. 3 and New Vegas really make the experience better, and NV is the best combo of old and new mechanics. There are a couple teams attempting to remaster fallout 1 and 2 using the fallout 4 engine, however this is a colossal task and most likely wont be finished.
If they remade Fallout 2 into Fallout Tactics engine or some 3D isometric engine with remade & added talking heads, optional co-op, and perhaps optional matrix style continuous turn-based bullet time combat system where more agile characters would move a bit faster yet at the same time as opponents but you can stop bullet time at any moment to think about tactics and give orders to your companions without rush, I would happily buy it again. While I appreciate the modding community and their effort to make Fallout 2 into 3D FPS RPG in the Fallout 4 engine, the game was just not made for it from the start, not to mention that the AI of companions and opponents in 3D games tends to be rather awful even in small numbers. Realistically, a well-made Fallout 2 remake would still likely sell over one million copies even if made only for PC and could be done within one year including high-quality video sequences.
First off thank you so much for the super chat it's extremely appreciated man!! I actually didn't mention F1&2 SE for this exact reason, it's not the easiest to run and it's common for crashes and things to happen, so that's why I never included it in the guide. Is there any way to make this game run better on newer ATI cards? Cuz on my RX 6750XT it runs like sh*t, like, literally. The character movement is OK but the camera movement is slow AF. Even the mouse cursor moves like it was a slide show. On my laptop, with a nVidia RTX 4050 card, the game runs super smooth, no problem at all, but on my desktop, with the said RX 6750XT, its just impossible to play.
Can't say I do, it might sound like you have RX issues. Personally I usually run nVidia cards because compatibility is much easier to run having less issues. This could be the same thing. Are your drivers updated?
Yeah, Im pretty sure is a problem with ATI cards and games which runs on older DX versions. I had similar problem with other games, like Tower of Elemental Evil and Pool of Radiance Myth Dranor something.
Just for a different file location? I honestly prefer it in local installation. But then again I'd you don't like this what do you use? This is like the only mod that takes advantage of 16:9 and beyond

That's ...a really weird method of writing off games I still don't understand how a simple directory change can still be garbage. Whether in My Documents or in the install itself I wouldn't say it's trash either. If anything it shouldn't change much, and worst case scenario you can keep track of file paths by just using Notepad to copy them to find em if you forget. As for messing with the registeries, it is s different story but that essentially is a computer refresh, transferring directories and Local Windows App Data into another version of Windows. Its something I personally do daily and works without issue
@@Kelphelp because i cant keep track of all games, halo 2 uses 4 different users directories to save games and settings, are you sure if you can keep track of all your games? when you change OS or reinstall it?... ok maybe weird but to me, user interface is most important. i also severely write off console games pretending to be pc games, example resident evil 4, many like it, but to me, it takes 15 ~ 20 seconds to aim a zombie when you have only 0.1 seconds to deal with it, console's menu toggling is unacceptable in pc, using a pulldown menu for changing weapons or ammo or items or battle gears is unacceptable, when you have 1 2 3 4 5 .... or F1 F2 F3 ..... in pc... Local Windows App Data.... i did copy about 80%.. but settings and savedgames were spread all over the places, i couldnt keep track of last 20% so.. i decided to copy all at the end, which means possibly wrong files were also copied over to the new users, it is not like tens of games, if few100s all over the users directories, i start to bark.
Yes, the fallout games (the real fallout games) aren't for everyone, and that's a good thing. Tailoring a game to the lowest common denominator doesn't mean the game is going to be good. Tetris work, and that was truly accessible to anyone. That is one of the exceptions.
I can wholeheartedly agree with this. Behind the archaic nature of the game is a fantastic world and story. The newer fallouts lack this aside from New Vegas and it's a damn shame.
Naw would highly disagree with that. Bethesda uses a significantly easier to navigate menu that lets you hotkey into whatever menu you need. FO1 does suffer from archaic menu design

Damn I really wonder what happened this whole time
Been there done that. Fallout 2 map editor. Inserted a Venus flytrap with the script of the weapon customization npc from new reno in Klamath.
Then you get a 👍

You are welcome!
Uhhh several character jn fallout 2 had talking heads like sergeant dornan the president or frank horrigan
Yea but like the rest of FO2 does not in comparisons to FO1
@@Kelphelp yeah but not every character has a talking heas in both games
so I did download both 1 and 2 on steam should I still download the fixt mod? causer other videos say to do so but here it says its buggy?? I'm new to playing games on pc so I'm not sure! any tips would be greatly appreciated
I personally have experiences bugs for this but some haven't. I didn't include it in the guide for that reason, but I am sure with this one you should be good regardless
The mod I downloaded does not say how to install it, just how to use it.
"Ultimate modding guide"
Did you read....the Readme?
@@Kelphelp Yes, just like you said. It's full of tips on how to use it, but not where to put it.
It's probably so basic they don't mention it.
I found a forum post that says to "place downloaded .gcd file into a new folder in the installation directory" but the mod I downloaded doesn't have a ".gcd file".
Ight let's start first thing first.
What's the mod specifically? And what are you trying to do?
@@Kelphelp Ok, It's called f12se
It's a save editor so I can increase my AP
(I'm 32 hours in and just realized I cannot beat it without more AP)
I actually didn't mention F1&2 SE for this exact reason, it's not the easiest to run and it's common for crashes and things to happen, so that's why I never included it in the guide.
As for how it works, I think it has to be opened in administrator, and I forgot but there was a certain way to use it. Oh man it's been a year so I have to check
Is there any mod that allows to move in the game with WASD buttons ?
Not that I know of. It's fully mouse based and that would change the whole scope of the game
@@Kelphelp Well, between the fights there is no need to use the mouse to walk.
True but then again I don't know how WASD would work for this mod wise
How did you get that resolution ?
After installation of the high resolution patch it should be detected. So any resolutions that are inputted on your PC
Speaking of fallout 2
YESSSSSS?👀👀👀🦅
High-Resolution Patch link is broken ;/
Shit serious?! Damn must have over time. I'll get to fixing it and replacing it
Does this work with the gamepass versions?
Don't see why not! Drm won't stop it from working!
Почему не упомчнуты невада и сонора?
Я так думаю? Я знаю, что упоминаются небольшие порции, но не так много. Я не помню, упоминалась ли Мексика или нет.
A fallout 1 fix and patch mod that is bugy and contains bugs ... hmmm task failed succesfully
You willfully ignored an entire video with useful info to use for fixes.
Task unviewed successfully
Let alone the site mentions the killian glitch wich still is contained within ... text info ignored sucesfully, patched lot, wow verry much@@Kelphelp
Does this mods work with Fallout 1in2 mod?
I don't know but I wouldn't be sure. I do get hesitant with 1 and 2 just because of the bugs in game.
Recommends against FIXT. Yeah...this video is a moot-point.
Congratulations, you are the first person out of 20k+ to mention this.
If it works for you cool man, it didn't work for my needs or the video, so I left it out.
Uhm.. Kelp you realize interplay went bankrupt right? Even if they wanted patches they couldn't
Then that's why this guide exists so you can patch it properly
Why on earth would i want to use the censored fallout 1? The fix it patch and 1 et 2 makes it uncensored by keeping the icons snd children.
It was a buggy fix so I didn't wanna include something in the guide that was known to be buggy
There could also be Direct X conflicts too, so check how RX runs with DX9 as well
Yeah, Im pretty sure is a problem with ATI cards and games which runs on older DX versions. I had similar problem with other games, like Tower of Elemental Evil and Pool of Radiance Myth Dranor something.
ET TU?!
Brute?
there's 2 ways of making fallout better. 1) uninstall fallout3/nv/4/76 2) install fallout and fallout 2 or watch the series
Putting NV in the fold of bad Fallout games automatically renders this opinion null and void. Nope
👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you so much!!
but the fallout high resolution MOD garbage makes a setting file in users's local not at the installed directory, so i cant praise this MOD
Just for a different file location? I honestly prefer it in local installation.
But then again I'd you don't like this what do you use? This is like the only mod that takes advantage of 16:9 and beyond
@@Kelphelp these are where they store settings and savedgames
users documents
users documents my games
users Saved Games
users appdata local
users appdata locallow
users appdata roaming
users all users
users public documents
there is no way i can keep track of any of many games, finding each game's settings is so tiring
if they use these directories other than their installed directories, i consider the games are garbage
when i install or reinstall windows OS, i just copy old users dir(maybe from win 8.1 or XP or Win10) over new users dir and then the newly installed OS gets broken, then i reinstall windows OS with soft-reset this time without overwriting registries. this whole process was too risky, but worked so far i didnt find hidden corruptions
All fallout are real fallouts.
@@jackzheng20 fallout: brotherhood of steel
Christ the inventory systems for the fallout 1&2 is lightyears better than Bethesda's inventory menu which involves about 8 clicks to get to weapons
Naw would highly disagree with that. Bethesda uses a significantly easier to navigate menu that lets you hotkey into whatever menu you need. FO1 does suffer from archaic menu design
