I miss those days. I'm pretty well stocked but I remember a week before lockdowns and panic buying began adding a case of Tula to my shopping cart that was on sale for $129 at SG then holding off trying thinking nah I dont really need it right now.....damn times have changed.
Origin: Georg Luger developed his now famous P08 (The Luger) in 7.65x21mm. The Swiss military adopted it, but the German military wanted something with a little more UMPH, so Georg redesigned the cartridge to 9x21mm. Hence why you see "Luger" on the case head.
I love 9mm. Most of my semi auto pistols are 9mm. I carry 9mm for everyday self defense unless I’m in the woods. But I be never understood the “bullet technology” argument against other calibers/cartridges. Those calibers also experienced the exact same bullet technology improvements over the last 50 years. It’s a very strange argument to me. Again, love the 9mm. But if recoil and sight picture are your concerns then I could argue you should use 380. But of course everyone should carry/use what they’re comfortable with and then refrain from condemning the choices of their fellow firearm enthusiasts.
No, the SMALLEST NATO cartridge is a German 4.6 x 30 round (for H&K MP7) and next largest is FN 5.7 x 28 round (for FN P90) THEN the 9 x 19 round. I have tactical carbines in 5.7 x 28 and 9 x 19. (FN PS90 and RUGER PC Chassis carbine). I much prefer the PS90. I seldom use either as they are stored at my friend's bug-out home giant safe.
9x19= 9mm Parabellum . The industry calls it 9mm Luger often for simple marketing . NATO is a hot version as spoken . Same case , same wall thickness . This whole conversation is super confusing . Lucky it’s common info . If I wasn’t a gun guy I would be lost .
So "commercial market" means US commercial market with expanding bullets, HP/JHP/flatnose, dreaming of home invasion that will never happen. (sorry, a small poke is okay here) In Europe it seems standard cheap bulk ammo is 9x19 124gr FMJ ball at 360m/s or 1181 fps. Are they thus 9mm NATO?
he said a box of 9mm was like $9 LMFAO

Brandon Jordan you can’t even get 22lr for that now. If you are lucky enough to find it.
Where?!?!?
When he said "about $9 a box"... I almost teared up 😢... those were the days... 😂
Me too.. I remember those days. In my country the price for a box of 50 rounds Geco 124gr or S&B 124gr is now appr. $18
@@Leopard_8119 What country? That's a lot!
Should do a 10 minute talk about 357sig
More talks on all the more popular handgun cartridges: 40 s&w, 10mm auto, .45 acp, .357 sig, .357 mag, .44 mag, etc.
They made it, didn't catch on, now it's dead. End of story.
How about something on .327 federal mag? Awesome little magnum that can rival a 9mm, from what I hear. Plus, you could shoot 32 HR, 32 long and short.
We'll add it to the list!
@@VortexNation and a magnum handgun hunting session.

Ryan is the smartest gun guy that I know of. Most likely, he is generally right smart.
Would love to hear discussion on the 257 Roberts.
Would love to hear about the 10.3x68...
Interesting listen
Ryan - 9x23 Winchester is not “goofy”. Matching .357 Magnum ballistics in a semiauto pistol is a GOOD thing.
308 Win has a higher pressure than the NATO 7.62x51 ammo
They're pretty much the same. NATO measures differently than SAAMI so the numbers seem different.
Lmao $9 per box of 9mm, oh you sweet summer children.
Whats the story with all them SPAM cans ? XD
Would a commercial 9mm +P or +P+ approximate the ballistics of the military 9x19 ?
Do the .280 remington! An awesome overlooked cartridge.

This video was produced before 4.6x30mm was standardized in December 2020 as per STANAG 4820. It was correct information at the time they made it.
What an awesome and informative video. Learned so much about the differences between the two. Thank you, keep it up
But how does it compare w/ the six-five Creedmoor?
Ranger-T 45 expands to 25mm
Holy shit! It’s actually ten minutes and not 1.75 hours!
4 NATO rounds... 9x19, 5.56x45, 7.62x51 (.308), and .50 BMG
and not 5.7x28
ok nato is 124 at 1200 fps so is that ....+ p or +p+ pressures on the civil market ????
Yes basically.
I’d say closer to +P loading
Maybe somewhere in between judging by ballistics.
Can NATO ammo be fired safely through 1911 9mm?
Yes
That’s what I shoot most of the time, practice with what you want to defend yourself with.

Firearm capacity decided this issue.
SPAM! I just noticed the spam lol
Always spam :)
I googled what sidearm does the british army and the Glock 17 popped up. Can anyone confirm this?
Now do 45-70.
Lets talk about 223 WSSM , Hugs

Pealed we is.
British carry Glocks
We dont need a history lesson on formation of NATO. Get to the technical differences we all came here for.
