He switched guitars because he broke a string but you never saw it because he kept on playing avoiding the high E. Playing backwards, in a tux, live, that is skill definitely the GOAT.

You just watched the most talented, amazing guitarist that EVER lived, congrats! I’m 60 years old and nothing makes me happier than watching the younger generation appreciate SRV and keeping his music alive! Got to see Stevie in Jacksonville Fl. 1976 and I’ll never forget it. Stevie was the whitest black blues man that ever lived!! He switched guitars because he broke his strings, that was his brother Jimmy with the white guitar playing while he switched. Stevie usually played with 13 gauge strings, sometimes even 17. He used to glue his Calluses back on his finger tips so he could continue to play.

This is true but I read in the book Texas Flood that not to long before he passed he dropped down to either 10’s or 11’s and one of his friends asked him why and his response was cute he said since he got off of drugs he could finally feel his fingers .

  • @rowdycat2
    @rowdycat2 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Stevie Ray is the GOAT. One of the greatest to ever pick up the guitar. I met Stevie Ray and his brother Jimmy back in 1978 at his house in South Oak Cliff. Another friend of mine went to school with them and took me with him when he went to their house. We sat in their garage and listen to Stevie practice on his guitar and I was blown away. For me it was something special and this was before anyone had ever heard of him. Great day.
But I would like to introduce you to two other guitarists who go far back that no one is showing on their reaction channels that just breaks my heart that they do not receive the recognition they deserve. These two gentlemen are masters of their instruments and I want someone, and I am hoping that's you, will take the time and put their music up on their channel. I think you just might be the one to do it. I have put these suggestions up to the channels Alex & Andy, Weboo Reacts, India Reacts, Jamal aka Jamel, Modern Renaissance Man, No Life Shaq, Lost In Vegas, King KTF, Mr Video, etc,,,,,,,,,,,,,, but have got no one to do them. I am on fixed income and can't afford to pay these people to try and get them to to do this. So if your the same way I guess I a screwed and so is these two artists and they are never going to get the recognition they really deserve. They will blow you away with their talent and their bad ass guitar playing. These songs are H-Bombers forget bangers.
The first guitarist that I am talking about is WALTER TROUT. He is among the world's most formidable blues guitarists. His high-profile stints with Canned Heat and John Mayall's Bluesbreakers in the 1980s resulted from a decade of backing blues and R&B performers including Joe Tex, Percy Mayfield, Big Mama Thornton, Lowell Fulsom, and John Lee Hooker.
Walter then went out on his own and has created and produced 27 albums under his name. I am goint to give you a link here for the song I would like to see as his introduction to the reaction world. It is an old Freddie King's song called 'Dust My Broom' that he is performing live at the Paradiso Theater in Amsterdam. Here is the link to the TH-cam video,
    th-cam.com/video/Ztf_VBhcL7c/w-d-xo.html .
The second guitarist I am talking about is FRANK MARINO. Frank's band is Mahogany Rush. He was born in Canada in 1954. He began playing guitar at the age of 13 after having played drums for three years. Very soon after changing instruments, Marino had formed his band Mahogany Rush. By 1971, three years later, the group had developed quite a following. At the age of 17, his first album, MAXOOM, was released and the group quickly started generating a larger and larger following and more albums. In all, by the year 2001, Marino had released 11 albums with Mahogany Rush. He also did two solo albums, 1986's Full Circle, and From the Hip, which came out in 1991. Adding to his credits are also appearances on recordings by April Wine and Brian Lee. He is one of the greatest Guitarists around.
The song I would like to see as his introduction to the reaction world is his rendition of Chuck Berry's 'Johnny Be Good'. It is A live version from the Midnight Special. Here is the link to the TH-cam video,
    th-cam.com/video/zw_MEs0xOAg/w-d-xo.html
For additional guitar magic this second link is the same song but from a concert at the Bromont. The video is low quality but the sound is good. But it shows a longer version and Frank really goes off at this concert.
    th-cam.com/video/kZzhQXG7OfY/w-d-xo.html
Now one thing to think about is that if you do these you will be the NUMBER ONE person to react to them and everyone will be chasing you as the leader on these two guitarist. You know how everyone does the same artists and songs when a new good reaction video comes out by one of y'all.

But talking to his rig, that's pure SRV. A few other greats do it too. One of my favorites is Oscar Peterson, jazz pianist. He's also famous for talking to his piano. It's sad that I'm one year older than Stevie Ray and the first time I heard him was when when I was 68 just this year!! My whole life there was something that I missed out on! I could have watched him live and didn't get the chance!! With out a doubt the greatest guitar player of all time!!

SRV is SRV . ☠ I saw him in the early 1980's when the Texas Flood record was new , in Boston , at the Channel club . Bass , guitar , drums , Fender Twin Reverb on a folding chair , Ibanez Tube Screamer , Cry Baby Wah-Wah , and a Strat . He played the first record , Hendrix tunes , and old blues standards , and burned the jernt down . I am fortunate to have been there . ⚒🙏

Anything at El Macombo is seriously required viewing. Probably, well in my humble opinion, the best blues to ever be captured on film.
    Great reaction by the way.
    Thanks and good luck.

Stevie’s music is called Texas Blues. I remember seeing Stevie Ray OPEN for Huey Lewis and the News 🤣. That was when he was just breaking onto the seen in 1983... Maybe ‘84... when he played, everybody got chill laying back on their blankets and drinking beer, just tapping their feet and taking it in. Damn he was awesome!

I worked a couple of his shows before he passed and he was a very nice person, and humble, and was hard on himself thinking his playing was never quite good enough, so worked hard to keep improving until his dying day.

Brother, Stevie took us to school & church all at the same time. I've been listening to Stevie since 86. I was lucky enough to see him around 87 or 88. He was that good. I'll never forget it. I loved your reaction. I love seeing people listen to SRV for the 1st time because I remember that feeling. Just cool to see.

Definitely the GOAT! I can’t even play normally as well as he does behind his back, and I’ve been playing for years.
If you like blues try Joe Bonamassa and Beth Hart. Two great videos of them together. One is “I’ll take Care of You” live at Beacon Street and an Etta James tune “I’d Rather Go Blind” live in Amsterdam. Joe opened for B.B. King when he was 12 years old.
Also, Led Zeppelin does a number of blues songs in a rock/blues style. “When the Levee Breaks”, “Dazed and Confused”, The Lemon Song”, Whole Lotta Love” to name a few.

There's a reason Stevie Ray Vaughan is in the blues hall of fame, he played with the best of them Albert King was Stevie Ray's godfather, Eric Clapton said when he was playing a show Stevie Ray was on first and said " you expect me to go on after that?" He played with B.B. King, Johnny Copeland, Stevie Ray said when he was practicing with Double Trouble Stevie Wonder came in and started jammin with them and they did Superstition together. He played behind his head and his back, teeth, his guitar backwards, one handed, no hands by moving the guitar up and down, broken string, switch guitar in the middle of a solo and even used his elbow. Name one guitarist who can do all that, THE GOAT OF ALL GOATS.
