Couple of things. Good review. You send mixed messages on the glass when you say the 8x ain't great and gets fuzzy, but then say the glass is good later. The NF ATACR is also daylight bright like the Razor Gen III/II, maybe more so. I liked that you brought up how thick the stadia and reticle is at 8x, because it's something I've learned myself going out to your range. Personally, I've found 1-8s need to be in a 34mm tube to maintain clarity and function as intended. The 1-8s in 30mm tubes all suffer at the low end or the top end. It's cool to have a light weight 1-8 if it does everything well enough, but none of the 30mms do.
First off I want to say that I 100 percent agree about the 34 mm tube for LPVO’s. Having more eye box does make a huge difference with clarity and function. To clear up the confusion, on the 8X. It is a 4 out of 10 in terms of clarity of target picture, due to the fixed parallax with the LPVO. The 1x is fantastic, however, some thing we have seen with all LPVO systems, is, it is a jack of all trades and a master of none. But totally agree with your entire comment.
Friendly advice. Have your video editor make each of those DJI mic feeds into stereo across both the left and right speakers. Listening on a phone doesn't matter but computer or car speakers it's not great.

The nightforce NX8 exists in the same space here, the best out of those is the capped model with the new reticle, barely over 17 oz, just under 9" long.
Also March 1-8, and 1-10. Similar weight and size, but with parallax adjustment, and a dual focal plane on the 1-10, which helps in terms of not needing daylight bright illumination on 1x.
I just backordered one of those myself a few hrs ago. Seemed to be the least busy reticle while still offering a lot of capability. Hopefully when I get it in a month or so it lives up to the expectations.
In reference to the scarcity of actual true daylight bright LPVOs; the NIGHT FORCE ATACR 1-8 is one the few out there that is actually TRUE daylight bright. It’s even brighter than the Vortex Razor gen 3 1-10.

I’m kind of between this and the khales k18i-2.
Why wouldn't you get an MVPO instead of an LVPO if you plan to mount an offset red dot sight? You will get much better magnification for a cheaper price just not having the 1x and the 1x isn't as good since LVPO's are all fixed parallax versus a red dot. So why bother with 1x on an LVPO if you are going to use a RDS? Better off getting a 2-10x if you mount an offset dot it will be cheaper and have better glass for the price.
Do you happen to know of any MPVOs that compare with plx’s weight and footprint? The weight, glass quality, and reticle are what’s selling it for me, haven’t been able to find anything that matches it’s capability for its size.
Precision at distance this thing really shines against its comp imo. Chevron is sharp and defined allows for pin point accuracy vs covering a target with a dot

Just my opinion, if your not going for “precision” and just want a good dependable reticle that can put shots on target quickly and at different distances than I would get BDC, otherwise I would get MIL. Nothing wrong with MOA but I’m starting realise how much more potential MIL has over MOA at longer distances. I have a PA 2.5-10 GLX on my AR10 and my 18” AR-15. I also used a 1-6 LVPO from PA. I’m a pretty much a PA fanboy and their BDC reticles are pretty good (they can be in MIL or MOA). I’ve had leupold, Vortex (poortex), Swampfox, and PA. And except for my gucci Leupold, I love PA. Q1: Once zero is achieved @100 and all manipulation needed can be done with redical, is not having a Zero Stop necessary? Q2: Is a Red Dot needed wirh this redical?
It’s always good to make sure that you never take away capability, so having a zero stop even though you may plan on using the reticle to hold for your different targets is still a good option to have in your toolbox. Also having a top red dot is a good backup citing system as well as allows you to passively aim with Night Vision or a gas mask However, with that being said, the one X on the scope is probably one of the best 1X power settings we have ever seen

To me, on an LPVO, especially on the PA, I am not concerned with the illuminated reticle during the day. In fact I prefer *not* to use it during the day. Night time on an LPVO is when it becomes money. I try not to under think or over think things. There are pros and cons to everything in life, and even balance requires compromise of some type.
It's the Reptilia Corp AUS. I have it on mine in clear anodized. I like it more than the Badger mounts. Just expensive. Especially if you add on the RDS top mount, compared to other manufacturers.
@primaryarms Make a LPVO with these qualities and will be an absolute game changer: 1. Same excellent 1x 2. Same size and weight 3. Aimpoint bright!! 4. Top magnification of 4x! That is plenty and will help eyebox / scope performance. Magnification wars of LPVOs are losing sight of what the purpose is to the detriment of the performance. 5. Less busy reticle. Preferably the horseshoe with bdc drops. Leupold CM-R2 is about perfect. 6. Capped turrets 7. Clear cross hairs like the schmidt and bender 8. Oh yeah and must be FFP
I went with a Midwest industries 1913 rail qd mounts for Harris bipod and a different qd mount for an atlas. I am also curious on what they would recommend but for me I like both bipods.
@Rob yeah it's a lot, as the product develops, we may see gen2 versions that are priced a little lower. I think the price is not too bad when you consider that it includes a scope mount. I say all this with the caveat of as long as it proves to be a quality product.
Very cool concept. I’m excited to see others come out with products to rival it to help prices come down a little. Id definitely be interested if it was priced a bit better.
Yes, way too expensive. It's really if you're using it all the time all day and are really counting ounces. I own it. I do enjoy it and am also enjoying learning how to use the reticle to it's full potential. But man, that price. Oh, and their warranty is great. My reticle started to flicker and they sent me a new one. So there's that. If I have to get another I'll find a slightly bigger cheaper one.
A true 1x is overrated. Once you get magnification factors above 4 the eye box degrades so quickly. 6 or 8 are usable. 10 pretty bad. I’d take a bit of a crappy 1x or even a 1.5-2x low end to get better eyebox at max.
Ninjas don't like locking in for 8x 609 yard shoots. They think u should be running with ur head off the stock picking 30 head shoots with 30 trigger pulls.lol😂 respect .
Personally I dont do scopes on my AR15s I deem them a battle rifle, and a red dot is more than adequate. This said I have a Wilson combat AR that its accuracy could put it as a DMR, but my personal take is if im running an optic, i am pushing it out past 300 yards i dont want a LVPO and going to a traditional optic. I understand the want for PID, but again, I do not point my weapon at anything i do not intend to destroy. I have binos on my rig for that very thing, if its hostile and i have the time to discern if its a viable target or not, I will not point the weapon to indentify.

Please don’t take this the wrong way, but if $100 is a lot of money to you in 2023 you need to figure out a way to make more money. I’m not saying you need to spend $1k on an optic, but damn man that mentality of accepting being poor makes me sad.
@GhostlierQ82 I could see this for competition, but why wouldn't you just run a magnified eotech with a flip to side magnifier for nods? It just seems impractical outside of competition where go from 200 yards to 25.
@@Kaltwasser45 That's a great question. What is boils down in my opinion is a compromise between daytime and nighttime shooting, where you want good positive identification capabilities out to some distance during daylight. That set-up is completely dependant on your particular needs, of course, like everything else.
I don’t care who loves Primary Arms Optics/LPVO’s and their reticles. Their lines are FAR too THICK ((Thiccc)) and way too busy vs sizing and layout. They really need to clean them up bc they are NOT for the serious end user or professional.
But some of us prefer the thicker lines. I've found in low light I can shoot better with thicker reticle lines then thin lines that disappear completely
I have the SE FFP 1-8x and the PA PLXc 1-8x. PA is obviously nicer quality overall and clearer glass. But I’m still undecided if it’s nearly 3x the price better. I don’t think it is honestly. 8x eyebox seems more finicky on the PA. My biggest complaint is if your head isn’t dead center, parts of the reticle seem to drag/double/blur. I notice it mostly on the vertical ranging bars, although it occurs throughout the reticle. Back it to 7x and it’s not present. Awesome 1x. Gripes on SE: weight. At 24oz, it’s noticeably heavier. Clean reticle at 8x though/no reticle “dragging”. BDC lines up great with what I’m shooting. Hopeful Vortex puts out a lightweight PST Gen 3 with reticles similar to the EBR-9 offerings with something like the user configurable turrets PA did. I have my elevation turret exposed on my PLXc.

6. Capped turrets
7. Clear cross hairs like the schmidt and bender
8. Oh yeah and must be FFP
Less busy reticle= lower hit ratio
@@1lostinspace slower hit ratio
@@dentron2 What is a slower hit ratio ? At 1x you don’t even see the grid. All this has been tested to death
What bipod brand would y’all recommend for a 14.5 GPR type set up?
I went with a Midwest industries 1913 rail qd mounts for Harris bipod and a different qd mount for an atlas. I am also curious on what they would recommend but for me I like both bipods.
Front focal or first focal? And the optic is not level.
Small is great but if clarity sucks then it's pointless
9.25 is massive to me
How is the Griffin too thick its a .30 cut like any other reticle, who dials in lpvos lol
Have you guys seen the Scope Switch? Seems like a really cool mount for LPVOs, expensive but really cool.
I thought it was interesting till I saw the price tag.
The March shorty is a 1-10, 17oz, dual focal plane, and shorter... Also, far more expensive, but some may think it's worth it.
Ninjas don't like locking in for 8x 609 yard shoots. They think u should be running with ur head off the stock picking 30 head shoots with 30 trigger pulls.lol😂 respect .

I really didn’t want to leave a negative comment but the guy on right constantly interrupting was driving me crazy. Great info overall.

Bro I love this channel but I’m so sick of Roy constantly cutting Eric off like bro he is talking and dude staying cutting him off like we trying to hear what he has to say without you butting in like it’s nothing 10 plus times a vid. Bro is literally not conscious at all
I caught tetanus just from looking at that car @ about 8:00 in. 😂
Hahahahah it’s brand new whatcha talking about?
Custom speed holes!
I know his is a little off topic, personally I would like to know where the firearms industry, gets their statistics for budget pricing, because I do not know about y'all, but where I live $100. is allot of money and not easy to come by, I would end up in a divorce, if I were to spend $1k or more for an optic...
Please don’t take this the wrong way, but if $100 is a lot of money to you in 2023 you need to figure out a way to make more money. I’m not saying you need to spend $1k on an optic, but damn man that mentality of accepting being poor makes me sad.
I think my PLX-c 1-8x is the best scope on the market for the money PERIOD
Buys a 1-10 with true 1x, runs a reddot on top so you dont have to use 1x.........
🤣
The piggyback sight is for passive aiming, aka for NODs/NVGs.
@GhostlierQ82 I could see this for competition, but why wouldn't you just run a magnified eotech with a flip to side magnifier for nods? It just seems impractical outside of competition where go from 200 yards to 25.
@@Kaltwasser45
That's a great question.
What is boils down in my opinion is a compromise between daytime and nighttime shooting, where you want good positive identification capabilities out to some distance during daylight.
That set-up is completely dependant on your particular needs, of course, like everything else.
@@GhostlierQ82 Fair enough, it just seems like a compromise all the way around instead of situation built.
I don’t care who loves Primary Arms Optics/LPVO’s and their reticles. Their lines are FAR too THICK ((Thiccc)) and way too busy vs sizing and layout. They really need to clean them up bc they are NOT for the serious end user or professional.
lmao, all the ACSS line comes from the school house and actual combat input
But some of us prefer the thicker lines. I've found in low light I can shoot better with thicker reticle lines then thin lines that disappear completely
The night force is 8.7in long I like the March 8.4 but is out of my wallet.
Vortex strike eagle ffp 1-8x review when?
@@JGoodZX6R thank you! Everyone I've talked to has said shit like "bro obviously the pa is better" and there is no coherent response as to if it was worth 3x the money
$410 at AR15 discounts right now.
@JGoodZX6R I just got that email. Unfortunately I'm a little too poor to buy rn

The optic is way to busy.
Of course a decent 2-10 is going to outperform a 1-8 in precision work. Thats a stupid comparison. How about comparison to other 1-8s?

for $1500 you might as well find an NX8 on sale, smaller, lighter, red dot bright illumination. just sayin…
We actually may do a review on the NX8
@@barrelandhatchet night force has a generous military/LE/first responder discount program too. there is a bit of a wait though, I ended up waiting about 4 months before mine shipped out.

$1500?! For a primary arms 1-8. Hell no I can get a Vortex 1-8 or a swampfox for half that.
This is a platinum series with jap glass. It’s top shelf.
@@e7tegt503 It's funny how people shy away from PA platinum optics. It's half the cost of a vortex razor with the same glass.
Swamp fox lol

You guys mentioned not knowing another LPVO that’s smaller and also said not many other lpvo’s are truly daylight bright. I know it has its shortcomings…but the Nightforce NX8, 1x8 is both smaller/lighter and absolutely daylight.bright.
Not really. It’s almost identical in length and weight. But the bigger picture of the nightforce that I actually chose this over the NF. Is the bezel around the eye piece
Almost disappeared vs the chunky bezel
On the nightforce optics. I do love the NF though
