      You cant go wrong with PA ACSS optics.
      I own both the SLX and PLX 1-8x ACSS models and LOVE them both.
      I will say though, as great as the platinum series is, the lighter, more compact and less expensive SLX model gets the nod for me.
      Its 2nd focal plane reticle just makes more sense for any LPVO of 10x and under and its glass and overall performance is so close to the much pricier models it really isnt a factor.
      One thing for sure, whether silver class or platinum, the ACSS reticle systems are the best in the industry!

      @JohnMaxGriffin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Razor Gen II 1-6 is still the fastest LPVO on the market all these years later. As clever and well done these ACSS reticles are, they still aren’t as fast as a good SFP reticle and super bright illuminated dot. Where the PLx-C really shines over the Razor is the light weight and the medium-long range capability. The glass quality is about equal on both, the Razor has better eye relief and more forgiving eye box. Basically the top LPVO choices right now are Razor HD Gen II for $1k (on sale) or PLx-C 1-8 for $1.5k. The PLx ain’t never going on sale lol. So you have the option to spend an additional $500 for an optic that is slightly better at longer ranges without compromising much at short range.

      @@proverbialmind_spread9421 It's literally a roll of the dice, no matter what company you buy from. EVERY company (the major ones anyway) has a 10-15% return rate, at least. So you were just unlucky, just like I was. My first Primary Arms 1x prism, the screws that held the optic to the mount broke, on my first several shots while I was sighting it in. Broken screws inside the optic, 3 out of 4. It took 21 emails and 4 weeks to get a return label. Crap happens. But it can happen with other companies too.

      How far out do you think MrGunsnGear is shooting ? I'd venture a guess and say, not any further than his corn/tobacco field lets him.
      This means that he's not out there shooting this out to 750/800 yards and therefore he can't say much about how it's doing at those distances. Just sayin.

    • @joshuareed3999
      @joshuareed3999 ปีที่แล้ว

      @rascalmatt6713 Using a few other context clues, I'd agree. I don't think anyone with half a brain and an AR chambered in 5.56 is trying to shoot beyond 500-600 yards at most. The reticle in this optic is another good clue as it has a BDC solution for 5.56. I now own one of these and can attest to its great build quality and usability out to reasonable distances.

    I’d be really interested in a comparison between the older and newer model. Yes the older one is heavy by 10oz but the 34mm tube provides a much more generous exit pupil diameter. Dang it! I bought the first Gen 1-8x, as Carl (MSGT Green Beret) from Tactical Rifleman recommended it as the scope that he’d take to war with no questions or doubt! I prefer the mil-radian so that’s the one I purchased, and I love it. I total agree with Carl based on my use.
    Then they come out with this one! I should of waited. I wait for all you TH-camrs to ring out the flaws, then I’ll pick one up when PA corrects them. If it’s as good as the first gen, then I’ll pick one up.
    IMO, Primary Arms has great glass for the price. Maybe not the best, but definitely good enough for the average & precision shooter/first line/civil defense/militia/preparedness types. I do think, hands down they have the best Reticles on the market!

    i prefer 2nd focal plane for the large and full reticle. also you don’t need illumination in the daylight. if you’re going in and out of buildings turn it on to a medium setting and it will be there when you need it. i don’t need a rangefinder out to 300. if i need rangefinding i’ll turn it up to 6 as i prefer a 1-6.

    • @andreivaldez2929
      @andreivaldez2929 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd disagree about not needing illumination in daylight. Having a black reticle can sometimes make it hard to see it when there isn't contrasting colors behind, or if you're transitioning targets often. The illumination just helps the reticle stand out that much more.

    Great scope, PA is a great company, and while I respect the hell out of you and the information that you pass on, SDI is not a real gunsmithing school. There are few schools that are, and I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to attend one, TSJC in Colorado. Gunsmithing is a hands on skill, it requires someone to learn in person, not over the Internet. “How smooth is smooth?”, serious question. When working with action parts you need someone there in person to teach, SDI sells a package of hope, tools included, and will not count an actual gunsmith school as credit for any of their courses. When you enroll in a course, you are buying their package of tools that they sell with the “course” and you cannot opt out of them even if you already have the same tools of higher quality. I realize that most people can’t take 2 years off of their lives and go to Colorado, Arizona, or North Carolina, but what you can do in person is go to a community college and take machine shop or welding courses there, you’ll learn a lot more and you’ll have in person instruction.

    FedEx just delivered this LVPO to me 4 hours ago. I unpacked it and immediately checked the glass that you are so impressed with. Comparing it to my 34mm Platinum 1-8 and the SLx FFP 1-8 you’re right on… there’s no comparison in clarity and quality in the Japanese glass. The eye relief is much improved over the other 2 as well. I’ll mount it in my Geissele super precision extended 30mm mount tomorrow. This is outstanding.

    I was waiting for you to do this review. Thank you.
    I have two of these on my DD AR's. Shooting with this is just flat out enjoyable. It is by far the best LPVO I ever looked through and that includes the Vortex Razor Gen 3 1-10, and yes I had I used a rifle that had it on. That is a nice scope but I wouldnt purchase it if it were the same price as the PA Compact. I like the Compact that much. Opinions may vary.
    I have read the PA Compact is a non starter for some because the reticle is not day light bright. That factors very little in my assessment. Its bright enough, and considering what you are getting its not enough to deter the purchase. In daylight I use the reticle alone. I watched SupersetCA’s review, and he called it "almost perfect". The daylight bright was holding it back from perfect.
    I also read/heard ...dont remember where - that the PA Compact 1-8 is on the cutting edge of the technology. I have only shot it out to 200 yards thus far but the drop from the Chevron at 100 to the bottom of the Chevron at 200 is spot on. Cant wait to take it out further.
    Bottom line I bought two of them and havent regretted it at all. It was a great purchase and look forward to every range visit when I use them. It is expensive for sure but you without a doubt get more than what you paid for. That doesnt happen every day.

    I'd consider this for the size factor alone. I'm currently using a Swampfox Arrowhead 1-10, and while it's absolutely awesome and punching WAY above its weight class, it's fucking huge. This Primary Arms is perfect for an SBR setup... especially something that can reach different ranges depending on load, like 300 BLK.

    • @lincolnpascual
      @lincolnpascual ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ferrumchnop6617 Yes. But with the caveat of making sure the rifle you mount it to is not going to be integrally suppressed. I mounted it to my SBR (300 blk, 8.5 barrel, suppressed) and it took a previously 4.5lb rifle almost to 7lbs. I don't mind it, but it is something to consider. I'm planning on moving it to a different rifle, but I haven't decided what and why. I just want to make that particular rifle lighter again. Thing is built like a tank though.

    I finally got one, but I got it at Rainer Arms without the mount. $1,250.00 Can I still use the code and call PA for a free mount? JK😅 The 1x8x24 Creedo I have will be passed onto another. Still like the Creedo, but it's heavy. This PA LPVO works great and is lighter. I just can pull the trigger on the expensive top tier when I'm using mid-tier firearms with top furniture, trigger and controls. That's the sweet spot for me because I can add a little at a time. I can't justify paying 2K more for a rifle or optic that I don't get to train with as much and with disabilities I ain't kidding myself about what I can do either. I appreciate manufactures providing decent equipment, parts and firearms to guys like me who at least have the capability to shoot 1 MOA once in a while. PA got this so right. I hope they stay the course.

    Make a LPVO with these qualities and will be an absolute game changer:
    1. Same excellent 1x
    2. Same size and weight
    3. Aimpoint bright!!
    4. Top magnification of 4x! That is plenty and will help eyebox / scope performance. Magnification wars of LPVOs are losing sight of what the purpose is to the detriment of the performance.
    5. Less busy reticle. Preferably the horseshoe with bdc drops. Leupold CM-R2 is about perfect.
    6. Capped turrets
    7. Clear cross hairs like the schmidt and bender
    8. Oh yeah and must be FFP
