The automatic feature thing doesn't just make the handles at the wrong angle, it also moves the pivot farther from the jaws and removes all of the leverage for grip. Its like they expect you to flip the auto thing away before you use them every time.
@Toolsandtrash auto pliers are things you have to get used to, my auto wiha pliers the handles you have to get them parallel then secure them up, and these seem to be the same, once you get used to them they are easy just like anything else. But I still only use my knipex and hardly ever touch the wiha ones
I grabbed the set of 4, from 6 to 12 inches, for about $65 plus tax on Amazon warehouse. So it's not just me who has trouble with the auto feature, eh? Good to know it's not my fault! Also, it left grease all over my hand the first time I used it. But as you pointed out, it works well enough in manual mode. So I'll be content with what I have for the price I paid. For my 16-incher, I'll be going with Sunex pushbutton for 40 bucks. For my 20-incher, I found an Irwin pushbutton for $40 shipped on Facebook.

The little dangly thing between the legs immediately stood out as some kind of perfid atrocity that is only good for jamming itself up or pinching fingers.
Those other push button water pump pliers look very similar to the Doyle ones from Harbor Freight. I'm guessing Apex makes those, too. It looks like the cheap Kobalt self adjusting ones work better than this, even though their fit and finish aren't that great. BTW, I was wondering, how do the hex shaped ones compare to the Channellock 410 on those round fittings?
I wanted another set of Knipex, but I had a freaking gift card for specific store( don’t do that) and bought pair of these. Only saving grace is they have a slim profile. I will be breaking the little prick of these things. 😁
Brother I'm glad you saved me the money on those. I got Milwaukee V Groove, they sucked too . They look great but when you wake up with the beer goggles off , it ain't great . Everyone trying to mirror knipex and it doesn't work out
I strongly agree about those gimmicky automatic pliers. They have never worked for me. Had a set of them years ago and they failed miserably. I'm a big fan of Knipex. Even Channellocks have let me down.
@toolsandtrash its astonishing that no one can duplicate knipex as far as quality and function, imo unless you can touch knipexs balls, then there's no point in coming out with pliers to the market, unless your half price and even then, I'd still pay extra for knipex
A lot of companies are making these types of shits. I just got the Oreillys power torque version of this based on Catus Maximus video. By the looks of it, it’s better than this chihuahua but overall still a piece of junk! Return them all..
Atleast they bite in the manual operation. I have the crescent version of these and they are complete dog shit. From 1/2 inch all the way to 1 inch!! They never bite ever! These atleast bite and I actually like when the handles flex a little bit. It does give you that little extra leverage when you are squeezing down. Let's just say anybody that reads my comment. Knipex are the best. Gearwrench is right behind them minus that stupid self adjusting feature and crescent is dog shit company anymore. Even my crescent lineman pliers have a gap on the cutting edge when you are cutting stranded wire you can cut all the way through. Every just buy knipex or gearwrench.....
I think gearwrench has sold out to only making Chinese garbage now, most of their newer products including the pitbull line are made in cheena, all the wrenches I see are cheena garbage instead of tiawan. Thanks for the review, but yea seems like a waste
