    Thanks for watching this week's video all about the best toys for super-chewers! Which toy on this list do you think your dog will love the most?

  • @samuelflabra7326
    @samuelflabra7326 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Yeah that’s the issue with my new rescue is that he’s a super heavy chewer which is fine but he eats the pieces of whatever he chews up. He’s a rescue from the pound and they were calling him shoestring because he ate a shoelace and had to have it surgically removed. I’m adjusting to this as my previous good boy wasn’t a heavy chewer and only liked soft toys. He also never ate the insides of the toy. Thanks for the tips.

      Oh my! Hang in there! Make sure to keep an eye on him whenever he does have toys. It's fine until it's not fine, and we want to keep him safe!

      @@HowToTrainADreamDog I have to keep a close eye all the time but he’s worth it! My queen palm trees in the back yard are dropping poisonous seeds so I’ve been on a mission to collect them all and never let him out unsupervised. Thanks again!

    My Brittany goes through Tuffy toys in mere minutes. Black Kongs last longer but like you said only a few sessions. We fill them freeze them and pick them up when they're empty. For hard chew toy she likes antlers and nylabones. She loves to shred 1" thick 100% cotton rope, not dyed, that I buy by the yard and tie big knots into. She doesn't eat it and it's a big matted clump of string before long, but one yard of rope with knots has lasted for a long time. If it gets too shredded, I just tie more knots in where I can.

      This is a WONDERFUL idea!!! My GD loves to chew on cloth like items, but spits out shreddings. This seems to be a safe yet affordable solution!

    Thanks for this info. My lab is a huge, almost all day chewer-his favorite is the large Nylabone Wishbone. But he is a toy snob and has a toy box full of toys he doesn't want. I was thinking that at age 9, the Nylabone may be getting a little hard on his teeth. Now he loves yaks but I don't give them much because he does NOT want to part once he's started. I'm anxious to try some of these new ideas. I've never heard of indestructible toys...thank you so much!

    Do you think the Monster K9 Ultra is tougher then the Kong ? One of our Labs chewed off the top of a Kong and swallowed it! Needed surgery to have it removed. We now supervise them whenever it is chew time. Thankfully they dont chew furniture and only chew the toys when we give them to them. We are having a hard time finding something tough enough so they dont destroy it right away! P.S, we have used Gouhnuts chew ring with great results but it is time for something different. Thanks for your video!!

    Thank you for this video. Just found you this morning. In my experience with our GSD, Benebones are too soft. They were fine when he was a puppy until about 5 months old. Even the largest one wouldn't last a day. Love the idea about putting the nyla bones in his dog food bag and the head of lettuce in the yard. His favorite thing to do is tear something up 🤗🤗.

    Tuffy Toys was my go-to brand for my last dog, but they just don’t make them the same anymore! Our newest family member is a chewing machine & he ‘inherited’ some of our last dog’s toys which not surprisingly, held up pretty well. I bought several replacements after a few weeks & he destroyed all of them within minutes! I compared the materials and there was a noticeable difference in quality, but no shocker in today’s market. I’ve found that the yak bones & water buffalo cheek rolls from tractor supply co will last him weeks (which NEVER happens!!) instead of 10 min tops. He always chews when he’s anxious or sleepy & I work from home so it’s nice that he can be occupied and not constantly wanting my attention!

    I got the Bark Box for super chewers and it was a huge disappointment. There was a nylon toy (our vet said nylabone can crack dogs' teeth, and recommends staying away from anything like nylabone/nylon. There were two others - one was a natural rubber black bearbone brick, which I thought GREAT - dog had chewed CHUNKS out in just a few minutes (choking hazard). Then I tried the smores rubber toy as well - and within a few minutes, a huge chunk taken out. I don't mind if tiny pieces are removed that will easily pass through my dog ,but these were large chunks. I contacted bark and what AMAZING kind people - totally tried their very best to help - they sent a similar treat dispensing toy (similar to the kong but smaller) - I thought GREAT - but my dog (a pitbull/staff mix) got the treats out and then started chewing on the toy itself and again, big chunks taken out. I took photos and sent th ebark, saying are you sure these toys are for aggressive chewers? They sent me a frizebee round disk type thing that floats (really heavy) for us to play tug - which is great but I"m really looking for toys that the dog can entertain herself and doesn't need me to play with her - and when I let her play with this for a while, again, big chunks taken out. They sent a kind of green leaf toy that has a toy sewn inside and my dog LOVED this, but again, this is a supervised toy and within a few minutes she'd ripped it open and got the rubber toy out from inside and had chewed great big chunks out of it within minutes. Don't get me wrong, myu dog LOVED LOVED LOVED ALL the toys sent to us in the super chewer box, but not a single one of them actually lasted. I work from home and she always wants my attention, and I need toys that she can play with by herself. I already have 5 kongs, but I don't want to always have food inside her toys, I just a toy that she can play with by herslef without worrying that she's going to choke on big chunks. Again, tiny bits are OK, they pass through her but all the toys from bark were easy for her to take a good inch or larger size chunks out of. They tried SO hard, I can't tell you how nice they were and how much they tried to get it right - but ultimately, these toys are huge fails, choking hazards and in the end I canceled my subscription. Instead I"m looking on youtube for toys for aggressive chewers and I'm having more success that way.

      Hopefully that video gave you some good ideas. Keep in mind that dogs are social creatures and they often aren't so good at playing by themselves. But you can give your pup some awesome mental exercise and then she can snooze when you are busy with other things.

    Im located in Texas prices will definitely varey by location.

    When dogs spoil their owners, they often rub their bodies against each other. This is not the same as a cat purring and rubbing its head against you, but in many cases, the dog will rub its head, cheeks and body against you. This kind of behavior is one of the gestures that puppies make to their mothers, so it can be assumed that your dog is spoiling you. However, since dogs cannot use their hands as dexterously as humans, when they feel itchy due to dermatitis, ear or eye diseases, they try to relieve the discomfort by rubbing their bodies against walls or carpets. For some dogs, the object of their rubbing may be the owner's body. In this case, it cannot be said that the dog is spoiling the owner.🐕🐕🐕💖💖💖

    I have a 21 pound puppy that can destroy most toys in 20 min or less. She likes rope toys but unties and unravels them. She still has fun with it but it goes too far for me. I got her a piglet toy so called TUFFY and its face was gone in 20 min. two day later she had gone for the bacon, stuffing all over and I threw it away. When I see TUFFY on a toy's label I just laugh.

She does have some rubber bones and a rubber chew stick she likes. A lot of teeth marks and small pieces but they do survive. And one natural bone she likes even without peanut butter added.
