Hi Susan, what a great awareness on toys in this episode, especially at this time of year, when we love to put a little something under the Christmas Tree for our beautiful dogs. I love stuffing toilet rolls with a few special treats, then wrap in Christmas paper. They even have their own Christmas outfits. Fern has a toy for the beach and park, because she is legally blind and i want her to feel save, when she zooms around in an open space I will say to her free run circle. It is her choice when she wants to take the toy. It is so magical to see her so happy, running around. When we do tracking a different reward toy. Then their are home toys, for inside the house, and outside toys. One more a toy to cuddle up to at night. I have a box of toys, and I rotate them. Another episode you could touch on is food treats, I just can't believe some of the treats, pet shops sell, it is not rocket science that a dogs stomach was not designed for a lot of artificial treats, especially what they put in them etc, better stop here. Also awareness over Christmas what leftovers you should not feed your dog etc.
I love your videos. But I am a bit overwhelmed. I am 77 and we just got our final puppy. Our last dog died 2 months ago. Cancer. Horrible. I want to have a wonderfill time with her. She is 3/4 poodle and 1/4 Golden Retriever. She is 6 weeks old. Too young to leave momma 💔
Hi Linda, here's our Puppy Essentials playlist with the first things you should be focusing on with your puppy at the beginning: th-cam.com/play/PLphRRSxcMHy2hywpv3Md3HbWWPPbVF8W5.html
Great episode! I want to see what your dog toys look like. Would love to hear more episodes addressing the shy non confident dog! Thanks for all you do!!!!
My Beebop loves her Wiggly Giggly but it has hit the walls so much they don't make that noise though i loved when it did 🤣🤣 Awesome podcast as always ❤❤❤❤⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Hi Susan, the toy in this episode your dog is holding, I have it, I call it a fish, rather than a snake. Because if fern was in the bush and saw a snake say no more. So I call it a fish. I have been trying to locate a couple more for friends, cannot find them on line. Anyway love this one, great advice
great podcast....it stops me from me mindlessly buying toys.....now I can focus on buying toys that have specific purposes and it helps me know what to buy for which one on the 6 E's I want to ensure my dogs have purpose to playing with individual toys
I learn so much with each video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us Susan! I can't wait till I have a puppy this spring who will hopefully love toys.
I love tugs with bungees - definitely a more gentle experience! However, we do have to work on our "don't regrip" as I have have a holee ball come at me a quite a velocity during a regrip and bungee recoil LOL!
I have a 3 year old Dobermann who loves to tug and play retrieve, pre recallers we didn't think that was possible as he would constantly play keep away and even steal the tug toys. Thank you Susan and the team, he now sees the value is in playing with me ❤️ xx
My new puppy loves rubber toys the most. But she is only 4 lbs and I have a hard time finding ones small enough for her mouth. She has a strong bite and instantly kills the squeaker.
Susan your style of training is just beautiful kind, and definitely build s the best relationship with human and dog, I’m a trainer and highly recommend you to everyone that crosses my way. Keep up the amazing work!!
Yes. Dogs can see blue and yellow. Everything is some shade of brown. I didn't know about the app though. Thanks for that. But I've been buying toys for my new puppy that are blue or yellow.
Never thought about toy colors and dog's vision, especially outside. Although my dogs tend to see toys as something to destroy when they pay any attention to them!
Thank you for this guidance! I've had subscriptions to PupBox and BarkBox so I have a LOT of toys around! Trouble is, many are In a box unused because I would be picking up all the pieces off the floor. I become much more selective based on my dog style and really appreciate your insights!
G-I-V-E-A-W-A-Y! This podcast’s random comment give away of Susan's favourite dog toy from 4MyMerles will go to: Beaddemon. Beaddemon, you can reach out to us at: wag@dogsthat.com where we will need a few private details to follow up on getting you your new toy! Lynda(TeamSusan)
Love your podcasts. I had never thought about color although now that you have mentioned it, I do remember that our last poodle's favorite toys were a shade of blue! Need to download the referenced app.
Thank you for this! My pup´s favorite is squeaky grenade on a braid i bought on a sale and it is the only squeak that is still squeaking even after quite long time and 42 teeth attacks
I always seem to miss the pod cast... I nearly fell off the couch when I saw all those toys on the bed! Never thought to consider color! Washability is always important as I train outside a lot and obviously toys get dirty. And the slobber...uck... Can't wait for the next pod cast on the uses of your toys. I have that as well but not as many..😁 looking forward to knowing what your Zero investment toys are too.
I recently went to a local dog training center owned by a lady I know. I downloaded an ap that shows how the dog sees colors just because I was interested. (I had formerly been told that dogs didn't see in color.) When I looked at how red and fluorescent orange looked to them, I was amazed. Now I know why a fluorescent orange bumper "disappears" when throw in the grass. What "amazed" me even more was that when I showed the ap the lady who owned the dog center, she had no idea dogs didn't see totally "in color". Thank you for the information!!!
I want to repeat a suggestion I made . My 12 year old Belgian recently had to have surgery for an infected uterus. Her recovery was slow and I would have loved to hear a podcast about games and ideas for the rehabilitation process.
I noticed when throwing the orange chucket ball for my dog he had a hard time finding it. After looking at the ball with Dog Vision, I understood why. It was really hard to see in the grass. I found a purple ball and problem solved.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, experience & humor in so many different, free platforms (podcast, TH-cam, FB, Blog) in addition to your online courses. I gain something from them all!
I watched your video with Nikki Gurr, when I first joined 'Recallers' back in October...and downloaded the 'Dog Vision' app right away! It was such an 'eye opener' for me, and I sure look at things for my dog differently now! I find myself checking so much out through the app, and the eyes of my dogs, now! Pretty cool! Love the podcasts - keep 'em coming! THANK YOU!
Thanks so much for your time and effort in providing this and all the information that you do. I'm picking up my 9 1/2 wk old GSD pup soon so this was perfect timing.
another great podcast. My puppy loves his "crunchy" toy or whatever you called it :) I have no name for it but he loves it. I knew about the dog collar vision but never really thought about it for toy :) thank you and cannot wait for your next podcast.
As always another great podcast. We don’t yet have a puppy, we are researching and biding our time. Currently catching up on your podcasts one or two episodes most days. This particular episode is going in my ‘puppy book’ I also realise that I am going to need a ‘next steps’ book as well. Thank you for so much amazing info for dogs and everyday life
This is awesome!! I lived with a roomie once who banned stuffed toys.... And honestly even now that I don't love with her it's still a huge consideration. Maybe for special occasions.... But my terriers destroy them so fast, and fluff goes everywhere, and it takes forever to clean
This podcast is the best one out there!❤️💕 I commented before and I told a lot of people about it. My dog Nala🐾 would be suuuper happy to finally get a new toy for Christmas.. Nala plays with everything, as long as we have fun together or food is involved🤩. I hope she wins, she is brilliant🤓 and deserves it 🎅🎁🌲
I have found stuffed animal type toys may not be the best for our puppy as he goes after my toddlers stuffed animals as well. He loves them, but too hard for him to differentiate between dog and human toys for now.
Toys have easily become the most overwhelming thing now. I think sometimes it’s hard to pick just the right fit, so I’m glad I tuned in on this particular podcast! ☺️ All three of our dogs have different favorite toys to play with, and all of them have a very different drive when it comes to tugging. My oldest enjoys eating over tugging I guess he also enjoys just working over tugging - It’s not like I can’t get him to play but I just know he enjoys other things more! ☺️
I have really enjoyed this episode, even though I already have a lot of toys for my dog. Now I understand a lot more, though. Also, I have gotten the app which shows what the dog sees!
I often have to restrain myself from buying yet another toy and have a bit of a collection after a lot of years of owning dogs. I love seeing the different personalities and preferences for different toys in my dogs. They can be the happiest with the toy that I did not think would be a favorite and have little interest in the toy I like best. ;)
Love these great ideas! I have a 1.5year old rescue that loves toys, but she is also an strong chewer. I will listen to your pod cast on which toys you recommend. Thanks!
I love the dog vision app! Color is something I just recently started considering when my Aussie was refusing to bring back an orange frisbee but loves the yellow and white ones that are the exact same disc type. Also, now I can point my husband to your podcast for why I need so many toys for my 2 pups! 🤣
Great subject to bring awareness to people the reason for so many dog toys and their different categories and uses. Thanks and look forward to the other episodes that follow this one.
What a great podcast subject! There are sooo many toys out there, it feels overwhelming sometimes. From now on I’ll pick the toys in a more conscious way. Can’t wait to hear the next podcast on toys!
I wish I could find an entertainment toy for my dog. He's a destroyer and shreds any and everything. He has tons of safe chew toys (Kongs and the like) but unless they are full of food he ignores them. I give him bones, food puzzles and other toys but they aren't something that I can leave him unintended with
Thank you so much for this! It’s just what I need to sort through an accumulation of toys! The color thing *does* make me wonder why Kongs & so many other toys are red 😳 Must check out Dog Vision!
Another great podcast! Brilliant and simple way of putting across the considerations about dog toys. I will borrow it to explain to our customers how we choose the toys in our pet shop. Always recommending your channel and podcast to them of course! Thank you Susan and Say Yes Team.
I just downloaded the Dog Vision app. That explains why my dog sniffs everywhere for a treat that I can see really easily. I had no idea their vision was blurry too. Very interesting & helpful. I’ve just ordered some pods in purple which it looks like they see as blue so hopefully a good choice. Thank you!
I always learn something new from your podcasts :) Guilty of having a TON of toys my dogs easily get tired of. Thanks for some holiday gift ideas for my dogs!
Love the podcasts! As a 2nd year Recallers member I find the podcasts to be the “glue” that cements the concepts! So helpful in seeing those “ah ha!” moments. Fantastic insight!!!
Susan, your insights changed my life and the lives of my dogs! Thank you for what you do and who you are! Would love to see more learnings from your raising This!
I can't wait to hear your favorite toys for each of the 6 E's! Now I'm off to look in the toy box and see what categories I think I have for my dogs and what I need to fill in for their best life. Thanks Susan!

I'm never disappointed with Susan's videos. Who would have thought that a blue toy is more visable than a red one through dog eyes.

Great episode! I want to see what your dog toys look like. Would love to hear more episodes addressing the shy non confident dog!

A great episode would be one about separation anxiety and how to awoid it
I hope it’s not too late to comment but I really appreciate all of the information shared in these podcasts. Thank you so much Susan!
So many good ideas! Love the dog vision app! Educational,
engaging and entertaining...thank you Susan!
Best way to introduce toys to a dog that is not really toy motivated
VERY educational! Thank you
I like the checklist and I have three dogs and each one has it own favorite toy
I am commenting 1 year later!! Love all of your podcasts Susan!! Thank you🥰!!
I loved learning about toy selection
My Beebop loves her Wiggly Giggly but it has hit the walls so much they don't make that noise though i loved when it did 🤣🤣 Awesome podcast as always ❤❤❤❤⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I smashed the like button !!!!
I love this conversation !! My collies LOVE toys !!!
I (and my dog) thank you for sharing your wisdom and knowledge! Keep on!
My new puppy loves rubber toys the most. But she is only 4 lbs and I have a hard time finding ones small enough for her mouth. She has a strong bite and instantly kills the squeaker.
This is such awesome info, thank you! I love finding new toys for my pups and now I have some new things to think about! Definitely getting that app!
So much great stuff again! Thank you Susan!
Great advice, We have to make sure the seams on the plush toys are intact on a regular basis. We have dacron eaters if we do not stay on top of this.
Thanks for the tips on choosing toys and the vision app. Will make toy buying easier with so many on the market.
Well, and some of us have dogs that think toys are stupid and have zero interest in any of them.
Keep working at finding the right one Jay! More to come in the next episode. (LyndaTeamSusan)
My lady dog was like that
@@DogsThat He's just not interested. I accept him for who he is. It's okay for him to not like toys.
Never thought about toy colors and dog's vision, especially outside. Although my dogs tend to see toys as something to destroy when they pay any attention to them!
LOL
Thank you for all the info you give.
Great podcast to encourage intentional, thoughtful purchases rather than mindless, impulse toy purchases! Thanks Susan!

You're correct. I've never considered color in buying toys. Now I'll think of it.
Great podcast Susan. Great information :)
Loving all of his information!!!
Thank you!
Thanks so much! Very informative list and looking forward to the specifics!
Great summary of the values and purpose of toys, very helpful
