My grandpa was a sharecropper way back and he had a 4020, which he was done wrong and the man he was sharecropping with co-signed with him on a 4440 and tricked him and somehow ended up owning it, and the 4440 I loved that tractor its still in use today by a farmer that purchased the farm and implements back in the 90's I miss that old 4020 I loved riding on it with him, my dad, and uncle, wished I could have bought it way back then, but now they won't even think of selling it, and sadly, I can't do too much I'm a Disabled Veteran and my backs messed up among other things, but I love all your videos, beautiful work you and your family are doing.
Thanks for the background story. 4440 is a legendary tractor my dad still has his 4440 that he purchased new the year I was born 79. I'm pretty sure most new tractors of today won't still be running 45yrs from now.
Worked in a custom shop many years and they processed jobs like you are planning. An open credit card on file for all parts (protects shop cash flow, parts at cost for customer). Labor was net 30. He also had a labor charge (reduced amount from standard hourly) for research and parts ordering. Was a very efficient and proven way to work. High end shop that was 40+ years old.
Unfortunately that is how it has to be anymore. It was one of my best friends that did that one to me and we don't talk anymore. Sometimes the closest people or family burn you the worst. Thanks for the comment 👍
Yep in the body shop business for may years, had one good customer get me pretty good. Did work for them for 15+ years. Net 60 on their accounts.. We fixed 8 cars in that time period, total was north of 30 grand.. Live and learn.. All accounts became cod after that..
That really sucks that you got stuck with it but it will be a beautiful tractor when done and I would just break even on it. Trust me someone will buy it because of all new tractors safe and smog emissions crap. I’m is the process of working on a 1967 3020 LP. Learned a lot from this page already. Any links from where you got replacement parts from?
Thanks for watching glad I can help. As far as parts most I get straight from deere but I also purchased alot of the random stuff for that 4020 from shoup and all states ag parts. Shoup is good and they have fast shipping
Something I have done when commissioning a job with any contractor or mechanic when a lot of parts are involved…I pay for all the parts and have them delivered to the person doing the work so I know I am receiving the parts I’m paying for and the stress is much lower on the contractor or mechanic. Has seemed to work out well for both parties.
@@rgfarmsrepair503 Man, I am i sorry to hear that these are people out the that thinks it’s ok to treat others in such a manner. In 2008 I was neck deep in real estate including a development. We ran out of money and owed the contractor a considerable sum as we had to stop the project due to lack of buyer interest right before the meltdown. My partner and I told them we would get them paid, and we did, 100% within 3 months after we were able to sell the land to a much larger investor with deeper pockets.
I know how u feel now too and im owed from several companies nowand holding hostage all thier trucks and equipment unil they pay me in full and labor too and i even leaned all there business es and all the properties they owe too als. And i have gotten lawyers now tio..
I definitely understand the bitter taste in your mouth. Some people are just evil. You do beautiful work so no matter what hold your head high and piss on those people. I hope you can at least come out even on it.

That's gonna be a sweet tractor when it's finished.
Awesome as always!
Thanks
Can’t wait to see it done!
Going to be a beautiful tractor when done. Hate the circumstances behind it though. Be Safe!
Thanks

Yeah they owed me 70k when I absorbed that tractor. I hate when people do that crap to me it makes me not trust anyone.
Going to be a gem

do you do red tractors
Yes I farm with all red tractors for the most part. If you look at my channel last winter I restored my 7250 magnum
@@rgfarmsrepair503 could i email you on a project i’ve got?
That sucks! Just curious what happened to there truck in you’re shop?
I gave it back once they paid me for everything else that was owed to me besides the tractor. Sometimes you just have to take it and move on
Some people are stupid, I use to deal with the public, and some people wants something, and don't want to pay the bill, I understand you
