Mel , sorry but I’ve got to comment, thank you I’ve never laughed so much that’s the best video I’ve seen from you,
I’ve just put exactly the same awning as you on my van (last week) getting on the roof was priceless, i didn’t unroll it i left it in the bag i held it level with the rail and got the wife up the ladder to feed it through the rail much easier, and don’t extend the front legs until the roof supports are in place and be careful the wind loves these canopies, I’m going to watch this again.
So that’s what I’m doing wrong 😑 cheers buddy 🙏👍

As a caravan net of many years I suggest, if putting up an awning solo, allow at least 3 hours to setup and prepare a a large G&T for post erection wind down. Manufacturers usually arrange for their label to be visible and the correct way up. Have you considered the possibility that you have installed it upside down?? Steve
The extra strip is to bring the shade line down so that you can sit under with your head in the shade.

We’ve got one of these Mel, great kit, in the bag of bits you should find some locking barrel shaped bits which slide into your awning rail, one either end, you then tighten them with a screwdriver to stop the awning bag moving in the rail 👍

Sorry bud, really enjoyed your video, very entertaining ! but its convinced me that my fiamma roller awning was the right decision for me and i fitted it in a fraction of the time it took to fit yours. plus in 3p secs i can deploy mine to keep rain out when my side door is open and i'm cooking !. cheers mel ! oh and yes mine was nearly £900 ! ouch ! ( f80s) all the best !

I did look at that option, but the F45 wind out is worth every penny. And 3 small screws and you can remove it easy if you want to. Great video as always 🤣.

@@SACREDTRAVELLER I was lucky being able to use the standard brackets (High top Transit) as they come with it. For me just being able to wind it out a little bit, more so on rainy days is a big bonus. It gives you a porch. I don't spend much time on campsites so a quick set up was important. Again it's what is suitable for you as we all have different needs.
Maybe will get one for the big van 👍😮👍
I made my own went to awning repair place where I live made 14 foot long by 9 foot wide cover out of the same material as caravan awning bit like the urs, takes me 10 mins to put up in gutter rail and was only £240 with buying 6 poles to use to put it up. U have fun rolling that back up on ur own that's the only thing that put me off getting one like that.
the bit you took off is useful when the sun is lower down giving you more shade

I like the awning Mel I used to have a 2m model on my caravan and makes a lovely covered space outside the van but don't have the space above the sliding door on my t4 but instead use a 2.5 m tarp with a couple of old tent poles and guy ropes or I also have a vango faros low drive away awning it takes about 10 mins to put up and stays up like a tent once you remove the figure of 8 joiner and as long as you mark the position of the wheels with tent pegs is easily re connected to your van upon return to site .

We had one Mel on our other van great bit off kit you can buy end stops for the rail stop it flying off I used filed down bolts with nylock nuts worked a treat great for sunny or rainy days all the best donny

A good tip is to spray a little furniture wax into the awning rail to make the sliding process a lot less effort & smooth running.

Wow saved alot of money and does the job nicely... good on you! The extra side flap will definitely divert water but might also keep the setting sun from heating up the van or hold in alittle more warmth from a campfire in winter. Thanks for sharing 😊

Hi Both.. The drip flap..? (NOT the Drip doing the job) I put and awning rail along the sill and used it as a wind brake from under the van.. its called a skirt..? and it does stop the draft when your sat under there.. Just a thought.. Cheers Bud

Back in the days of Laurel & Hardy, my mate and I went travelling in a caravan we got for £50. (I think we still owe the guy the money for it). It had one of those slide in awnings which had sides as well.
We forgot about the awning one day and drove away. Because the caravan was so crap, it tore quite a bit of the aluminium skin from the side of the caravan! After that we were even less welcome in caravan parks than we were before, due to the duct tape look on one side and the general crumpled look on the other side from when it got blown over by the Aberdeenshire wind one night with us in it! Haha

Already done this 3yrs ago mel to my high top Renault traffic. If you take it off go careful the end of the awning rail will rip the seem edge on the awning bag but dam good video mate 👌

Love how much fun you both have. The awning looks great! On such a tall van, how in the world do you roll it back up, though?
Ha ha ha, it was genuinely a lot of fun to install with Mel😛. Never a dull moment. It’s got to be rolled up with a ladder or steps of some kind. If you had a lower height van it will obviously be easier 👍🏻🙌🏻🚐
We did manage to roll it up I’m sure with practice it will get easier 👍😊👍
You need a pair of steps and secure the middle Velcro strap first, it makes it that bit easier.
Be j Mel you could have saved a lot of time by getting the vango airbeam awning. Easy to fit and easy to store for less than €200.00. Well ya got the awning fitted without taken u'r head off. Enjoy. 😁😂

I have changed this type of awning on my popup camper, I left it rolled up in bag and just slid it in the channel on the camper.

You could also leave it on the side of your van permanently and using awning stops to stop it coming out of the rails 😁
