Tamu, the drummer from Nemophilia, also smiles a lot. These Japanese female bands have brought the joy of rock back to me. They have fun, incredibly likable and you don't have to worry about them trashing hotel rooms, showing up late for shows and dying of drug od.
Yes, I have noticed some others that do as well, like Yuri from Gacharic Spin (although nothing beats her bandmate guitarist Tomo-zo). It shows how much fun they have while playing and that they have room to spare as far as their musicianship goes even though they are a lot of times playing pretty technical music. As far as drug OD goes, drugs in general are a big no-no in Japan, if they get found out their career is probably over and they probably will have trouble finding a job anywhere. I have seen stories about a video game that just released pulled from store shelves after a drug issue with one of the actors came to light, the actor was swapped out for the Western release (which was a couple of months later) and after they changed him out in the Japanese release the games were repressed and put back. And these actors faces are captured in the game, so a lot of cutscenes had to be redone with a new actor (I am pretty sure it was the main villain too), so I can not imagine how much money that took. So yes, the chances of issues with that kind of stuff is way lower over there because the consequences are way higher.
Rina from SCANDAL is also smiling all the time. And the drummer from the Korean female rock band Rolling Quartz, Yeong Eun, is another one who is always smiling.
One great reaction old guy from an even older guy! It was so nice to see them in concert with a large audience. They deserve them, but I would sure miss them in a smaller venue as I was able to see them this last summer. To be in a small place with this band just giving you everything they've got cannot be surpassed. They come at you like a freight train and leave you wondering what did I just see and experience. Man I love these women. Right now the best band in the world!
Great reaction! Yeah, Band-Maid and The Warning together is pretty exciting! I'd like to add Tamu Murata from Nemophila to your list of happiest drummers on the planet. 🙂
When I describe Band Maid's members, I say the rhythm section consists of Akane Hirosi, drummer and Miku Kobato, rhythm guitarist and backup vocalist, Saiki Atsume, lead vocalist, and Kanami Tono, lead guitarist and primary composer, and Misa, lead bass guitarist. Misa is so much more than any bassist that I have ever seen.
You can check another great duo Kanami and Misa in the song name "Hate?" from the same concert. That was fenomenal performance!! Thanks for your reaction! Im not a Lovebites fan, im not a Nemofila fan but i agree with you, you have to respect another person opinion!
Totally agree. These ladies makes you realize how fake and silly was the so-called rock'n'roll attitude of these generations of guys thinking they needed to behave like creeps or arrogant jerks just to play music.
It's the first time I've watched your channel, I like you! I completely agree with your initial observations. You chose random, but you chose well, this song is one of the most loved by Band-Maid fans. This execution is one of the best in my opinion. I agree! Misa has an incredible bass tone. Misa is also a sound engineer so I think she knows how to do it. I saw these girls live in Europe 3 times in 2019. I saw them by chance dragged by a friend of mine into a small theater in London, and it was an unforgettable experience, I was right against the stage in the front row, and I heard Saiki's voice directly, not from the system Misa with the bass seemed to come out of the floor and Akane moved your bones, it was really exciting! Then up close they appear tender and friendly, almost shy, I loved them that evening! One of the best concerts I've ever seen! I'm a Boomer, I've seen all the greats live since the 70s. Band Maid are powerful and motivated I think they will go a long way. good life
Such a shame the world has become so polarized where no one can sit and have adult/civil conversion and work out our differences. Social media has eroded the ability to accomplish this I fear. I would LOVE to make it possible to see Band-Maid in a large concert venue like this one, Yokohama Arena. Waiting semi-patiently for my Blue-Ray DVD from this show to hit my doorstep. I need to sit down at watch The Warning more. I haven't given them the chance they deserve I feel, mostly from being so wrapped up in Band-Maid for the last four years I think. Glad your back, love your reactions......keep it up.
When you mention how effortlessly Kanami and Misa blend their talents, it's amusing to know that Kanami, Misa and Akane all knew each other and had played together prior to the formation of Band Maid in different projects. I personally have been a big fan of female bands since I first heard Fanny in the late 1960's-early 1970's and it continued right through until the end came. I loved the The Go Go's, The Bangles, The Runaways, Sleater-Kinney and a few others. My first foray into Japanese music were female bands with The 5, 6, 7, 8's and Show-Ya. When I re-upped with Japanese music about 6 years ago I was so gratified to see so many female bands, SCANDAL, Aldious, Bridear, Mary's Blood, Doll$Box and others. They lead the league in female bands. There is an entirely different feel with a female band and they are just as technically sound as any male band. Band Maid is truly the cream of the crop right now and show no signs of slowing down. I think their multi-rock genre approach gives them a much better field of possible fans than say, just metal or just punk, etc. But Band Maid has a way of getting to the heart of the matter in a way very few other bands have done before, male or female. They have no egos, they get along very well personally, they enjoy each other and they love their fans in a way no other groups has ever done. Thanks for a great reaction. I look forward to more. And I would suggest you check out Rolling Quartz, they are nice and edgy and command your attention. Reacting to a live video of "Fearless" would be a good start.
You will love Endless story from this show. Ut shot up from being one of my Band Maid songs to favorite very quickly after watching the live vid... Very emotional ❤❤❤
I saw BAND-MAID at the TLA in Philly Oct 2022 and The Warning May 2023 at the TLA. A show with both would definitely need a bigger venue. No problem selling out that one.
MISA plays a Custom Black Cloud Black Smoker Private Reserve 5 string bass with Ernie Ball strings.....The ladies of LOVEBITES were at this concert...So was I.
Many people call these duets “battles” but I agree with you, with Kanami and Misa, Midori and Miyako, Ayase and Yuki (East Of Eden), are more like conversations. I have always loved Misa’s bass tone. It’s a pity that society as de-evolved into a “I’m right, you’re wrong” mentality. I thoroughly enjoy your reactions.
You'll be happy to know Band Maid and The Warning will be doing a concert together in June in Japan. They've actually met if you ou didn't already know that. I understand members of Lovebites went to this concert too.
They really need to do another tour through Europe now. They've done a couple of tours through the U.S. recently. And also Japan. a European tour would really raise them up even higher, and help reach their goal of 'World Domination'. Unfortunately I don't think they will come down here to Australia, as I don't think they have such a large fanbase here. I've got to ask you man, does that photo of an electrical switchboard chassis mean you were or are an electrician like myself? Or did you just see it as an interesting image.
I work with everything up to about 600 volts at work as an industrial machine technician. That particular photo however was taken in Philadelphia by a friend who is a master electrician. He sent a copy of the image to me via chat but I told him to send me the highest definition one that he had, and then I blew it up into that picture because I just thought it was incredible.
@@ThePentagenarian I thought you would have some sort of affiliation with the electrical industry. Not many "Normal" people would have an image like that on the wall. HaHa. I myself was an industrial & commercial electrician, down here in Australia, for nigh on 50 years. Retired now. It was a good life. Cheers.
Based on your stated age, during the reaction, we are both older men. Too many people feel that their opinions and likes hold more sway over others and that they are the designators of what is and isn't good. In other words too many people with too much self validation from social media and not enough being told their opinion is just that, "Their Opinion". As you said, I can respect that they have an opinion, I don't have to agree with it, nor do they have to agree with mine or any others. If they feel otherwise, maybe they should go back to pre-school and learn how to act in a responsible society. And MISA's bass tones throughout the entire concert was very good. She switched out her bass, I think 7 times during the concert. Using 4 of her basses. I know that each one is set up differently, and on 2 of the switches, I noticed her Tech do something to MISA's pedal board. Whether that was switching her wireless channel or adjusting something else, I don't know. But MISA has probably one of the best bass tones of most bassists currently touring. And many of us agree with you on The Warning/Band-Maid tour idea.
Not a musician? You certainly have an ear for bass tones. I’ve played bass for over 40 years and I couldn’t agree more. MISA has had different ones, and all are great. However, this concert? She ought to have her entire signal chain inducted into the Hall of Fame. Regarding this song? One of my favorite rock songs ever. All bands, all years. Well written, perfectly executed, hitting all the right buttons from open to close. Thanks for another great reaction 🎉 and thanks for keeping the Maids in rotation! 👍🏽
